Firefox 4 is horrible!

1. PDFs. Really? enough said
2. W3C compliance. Websites are being rendered different in some cases, including what appears to be margin/padding bugs that I thought were so IE6
3. connection reset error messages constantly
IE has been horrible for years, and now Firefox is joining their ranks. Is there a decent browser left? You know, one that doesn't crash, displays content correctly, can display pdf documents, etc. like that's asking for a lot.

Sync doesn't work either,the whole thing is garbage,the developers don;t even want to continue updating their apps either.I have used this browser since the begining but this last update is total crap.This makes me really angry !

I can't use Firefox, or "Crashfox", more than an hour without crashing. I have a new computer, have tried every fix known to man, so I don't need any "tips".
Due to my endless efforts to fix the many shortcomings of Firefox, I can say without a doubt that its Firefox. I have no clue how this browser gained any popularity or why anyone would continue to use it. I've lost more data than I can imagine because Crashfox just quits. It can't handle any type of load at all. 5 tabs open and its done. I can have 30 open in Chrome and it works like a champ.
I just switched to Chrome and it kicks Crashfox's ass all over the place. Faster, more stable, and just plain better. Hands down, no questions about it. Good luck catching up to Chrome Mozilla.
AND, IF YOU WANT TO BLAME THIS ON THE PLUGINS, THEN DISCONTINUE SUPPORTING THEM. IT STILL FALLS ON MOZILLA.
Why did I post this, because I feel after all of my inconvenience, i should be able to at least make one comment about Crashfox. This post will probably be removed because no one wants to face the fact that Crashfox is inferior. Very inferior.

Chrome spanks Firefox in all bench tests. I even used a FF install w/ no addons. No contest. Chrome hands down.

Your site recommended that I start Firefox in "safe mode," but despite following the steps, I could not do so, why?

I have used Firefox as my browser for more than seven years, maybe ten.
After the two recent "updates" over the last six weeks or two months, Firefox has been horrible.
It constantly hangs and crashes, cannot access certain basic website, slows start-up, use, and shutdown, and, according to AVG, is using massive memory. Two weeks ago, AVG actually came out and directly recommended that Firefox be completely disabled.
I tried the Firefox recommendation to reset Firefox to default settings. It didn't work.
I tried the Firefox recommendation to start Firefox in "safe mode." But despite following their instructions as to how to do so, I could not start Firefox in safe mode; it just bounced back to the recommendation page.
It seems that Firefox has destroyed itself, and made itself completely unusable as a browser.
At this point, I see little alternative to removing Firefox completely from my computer and changing to Internet Explorer as my browser.
Has anyone had a similar experience, and similar problems, or does anyone have any ideas as to how I can try to salvage Firefox and restore it as a usable browser? Thanks to all who have any comments or ideas.

I can't use an online forum using Safari

I go on this forum regularly, it's a support forum for people who suffer from the same chronic illness as I do. The ONLY browser that will let me log into this forum is Firefox. I didn't mind firefox that much, except when using this forum when someone sends me a message I can't hit reply like everyone else on the forum can.
But the latest Firefox update is horrible! I hate it. It's full of bugs or something. So I set out to find a browswer I could use. Chrome doesn't work with that forum, that has been confirmed by the "tech guys", Safari won't let me log in. I finally found some one who uses that forum who has a mac, so I asked her advice.
She told me to make sure I had all my software updates, I had. She told me to update Java, I did. These are the other things she told me: Turn Private Browsing off, (It was never on), de select letting websites track you, and make sure my Block cookies setting was on third parties and advertisers. I did all that. Still doesn't work. She has a Macbook Pro. I have a MacBook Snow Lion. I also read some articles in Safari Help, made sure enable Java is selected.
I am currently in the process of downloaded Internet Explorer 9 via a Virtual Box because I have no clue what else to try!
Any ideas?

My Safari works fine in there. That's the point I was trying to make.
And so far, for you, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome don't work for you.
So far, it works in Safari, Firefox, and Camino on my Macs.
First, go to Safari and delete all the BP cookies first.
(Safari Preferences > Securityor Privacy. Look for Cookies. Open up the list, type in BP, and delete all the cookies that show up. Quit Safari immediately. Then restart Safari. Find the BP site through Google, not by any Bookmark you may have. Open it up, and log in. Report back, OK?

How to fix problem with installed and working add-ons disappearing after update to 20.0.1?

I updated to version 20.0.1 of Firefox the other day. I had the theme Qute 3++ 1.19 installed and it took 3 restarts of the browser before it kicked in and worked again, for some reason.
Then I noticed that my MillBar Community toolbar 3.18.0.7 had disappeared, which I use for the feature of collecting my email accounts to get fast notifications about new emails. Also my Adblock Plus 2.2.3 seems to not be working because all of a sudden I see ads everywhere and I also discovered a bunch of pop-ups from nowhere. I used these add-ons for such a long time that I was shocked.
When i went to type a message to a friend, I also noticed that my american-english dictionary/spellchecker was not working.
The first thing I checked was that none of these add-ons was inactivated or said to need updates. The dictionary had disappeared, so i re-installed that. I also reinstalled Adblock Plus. Still it doesn't work.
When i entered the email information into the toolbar options, it collects my emails for a while, but suddenly it stops and the information is not there anymore. If I restart the browser it also disappears.
Same thing with the dictionary. it works for a while, and then suddenly it's like it's disabled.
And the add-ons are still in what seems like working conditions in my lists. No errors that I can see, no updates available.
I'm really at a loss as to what to do, I've never had problems like this before that couldn't be solved with an update of the add-on. So I'd be very grateful for help with this and hope that I have provided enough information.

Macbook maximum hard drive size?

Hi all,
I read somewhere that the 2nd gen macbooks can only handle up to 250gb hard drives; is this true? Can I use a 500gb, or will I get some kind of issues? I need to replace my drive thanks to Leopard apparently killing my sound, blutooth, and more. Lovely.

I've done so much troubleshooting my brain hurts.
For months, my mac stutters when running flash video or audio from safari or firefox, sometimes getting horribly distorted, and eventually I get a kernel panic. I've posted about this issue, and gotten no help. I've been to the apple store four times about it, and gotten no help - and I'm an IT guy, and this makes no sense. I've wiped out flash and shockwave, tried other browsers, EVERYTHING, and still crashes/total unusability.
Also, my mighty mouse is herky jerky and useless, no matter what, even after having to replace my bluetooth antenna. I was told at the apple store today that it's probably best to erase and reinstall, because they are "stumped" (thanks). Unless the mouse is ON TOP of the **** laptop, it's basically useless, and I've been given two new mice. I've unpaired/repaired, wiped preferences, repaired permissions, EVERYTHING, to no avail.
I have no idea what's going on, but I'm tired of trying. I'm going to do a new hard drive, I suppose, and if that doesn't work, I'll toss this macbook out the **** window.

Wrong DPI/Huge Font Intel card

Can anyone help me with this? When I start GDM the dpi is messed up and Fonts are unusually huge. I tried everything listed in http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … Size.2FDPI but adding "Load "ddc"' doesn't work, I guess /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc is ignored by GDM because it didn't work either. DisplaySize is also ingnored by Xorg. And adding "Option "NoDDC" "true"" causes my LCD to not recognize the server output at all with an "Invalid Format" Error Message.
the olny thing xrandr does is alter xdpyinfo output, but the screen looks the same.
I the quick and dirty fix of setting the fonts to size "2" but Firefox icons look horribly wrong.

Tab Bar Right click changed behavior

When right clicking on the tab bar in FF 4, I get the toolbar customization menu. In previous versions, I'd get a menu that included options for tabs (i.e. new tab, reopen closed tabs, etc). In FF4, this menu is only on existing tabs.
Is it possible to get the old behavior back?

Why can't this be fixed. Firefox 4 is horrible and changed everything. No one wants it this way. You don't just change stuff to make it not work the same because ONE geek wants it changed. You are losing typical users by doing this. Can you simply update FFx3.6 and release it as, say 3.7 for those of us who don't want all these changes? Plus, please change your release schedule to once every 3 to 4 years, I'm tired of seeing this "surprise" update stuff all the time, I hate updates especially when they break everything. THANKS

I have friends I like to email in China and in Chinese, however, the recent update to 9.0.1 seems to have blocked my ability to switch input languages from English to Chinese. Is there anyway to fix this to allow me to do input in English and Chinese?

Under the old Firefox browser, I could switch input languages on the fly using the keyboard input option (shift+alt). However, this appears blocked on the new Firefox.

I lost all my bookmarks downgrading to the previous firefox because the new one is horrible

I downloaded the new firefox today but it sucked! All my plugins didnt work, and it just kept pissing me off. I had to keep updating stuff like adobe for youtube.
What I did was I kept the old firefox on my mac and put the new firefox in a different folder. I uninstalled the new firefox after finding out how horrible it is, all my bookmarks got deleted in the old firefox too! All my settings and plugins too!
I looked in the application data folder, then went to firefox and bookmarks.html. and the other one in there. but still nothing! Both files wiped dry!
I liked firefox before but this is a huge downfall. Im ready to leave firefox if I dont get my bookmarks back!

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Flash 13.0.0.182 in Opera and Firefox on Windows 7 64 bit runs horribly slowly.

As per title. Runs horribly slowly. Cannot even render 480 video without jerkiness and artifacts.
Seems to chew up to 30% CPU easily with 720 HQ.
Netflix with Silverlight runs quite fine.
Video played on the machine with VLC, Windows Media Player, and Winamp are quite fine.

If you force HTML5 on YouTube, does it still run slowly?
IF it does, (and HTML5 uses no plug-in) then the problem is elsewhere.

Looks great in Safari, but Firefox takes my 2nd text box and blows up the words and overlaps them to the point that you can't even see what the words say.

Horrible Firefox Performance

Hello, ever since the last two or three minor updates for Firefox, the performance has been horrible. For me, sometimes opening up a tab can take a minute and if I'm restoring a session the entire browser freezes for a minute or two before it loads any web pages. I've disabled all of my extensions, and I've even tried disabling flash. However, the problems remain.
The strangest thing for me is that this is happening on both of my PC's (both Arch). I've been using Chromium to get me by while I figure it out, however I don't like Chromium much so far.
Is anyone else having this problem?

You can revert back to Firefox 3.6 very easily how ever this is not recommend as support will eventually end for Firefox 3.6.

I downloaded the newest version of Firefox while I was trying to access Yahoo! and now it is horribly, horribly slow. My Internet access is by dial-up. How can I speed things up or how can I get back my prevous version? What number was it?

I presume that the reason why it takes so much time for Firefox to load and then for me to get responses is because my Internet access if by dial-up. I need a less rich, or complicated, version of Firefox. The previous version was okay in terms of speed. What can I do to speed up the processing. Is it because I downloaded the version from the Yahoo website?
