Firefox 4 is not starting

Whenever I try to start Mozilla firefox 4, it begins to load (little circle icon next to pointer) but then nothing happens.
It is shown under processes in the task manager as running, but nothing in applications. And nothing visually comes up.
I"ve tried closing the process/process tree, re-installing, restarting my comp, disabling anti-virus, deleting the folder itself and re-installing in a different directory and nothing worked.
Please help, i'm actually having to use IE to type this! haha

Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!

Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?

If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

After removing system fonts and reinstalling fonts, FireFox will not start! When I start FireFox the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" opens as if FF just crashed??? I don't see any records in event viewer. I am using FF v3.6.3 on a Windows 7 box. I tried uninstalling 3.6.3 and installing 3.0.18 and had the same problem!

There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.

To be honest, I can't find anything on this Netscape Font Navigator and it sounds highly dubious.

Firefox will not start after I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 10.04.

I was using Firefox without issue on Ubuntu 8.04. I then upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. Firefox would not start after upgrade. Message said it was already running!
I checked the System Monitor and saw it was "sleeping". I ended process. Firefox then would start, however..... I always have to go into System Monitor before I start Firefox to stop it from running (sleeping) even if I already just quit the program or after a fresh reboot.
I do not use a firewall or virus program.
My router has some sort of firewall hardware, and it is the same router I used with 8.04 with no problem.
What is going on? Why is the program sleeping when I try to start it. Why do I always get the message that it is already running (and I have to shut it down) before I can start it.
It is either a Ubuntu problem or a Firefox problem.

The workaround for the crash is linked [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=563484 HERE], under "Attachments" in the bug report. When you click that link it will show the contents of the .reg file (you can save the page as "ff7fix.reg" on your computer, and then merge it into the Windows registry, f you are comfortable doing that).

Firefox will not start at all

New versions of Firefox will not start and only bring up the crash reporter. I've tried starting in safe mode, I've deleted/created new Profiles and I've uninstalled/installed Firefox over and over. I can still download 28.0 and it has no problem opening. Below is the latest Crash ID from 35.0

Firefox will not start, after reboot.

For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. firefox was working this morning but in the afternoon, after i got off a game that did not require use of firefox, firefox would not start. it does not show up in the task manager and typing "firefox.exe -ProfileManager" into the search box opens a crash report which neither restarts firefox nor quits it. further attempts to do the same results in the same crash report.

Thanks jschaer2000: after starting it once in safe mode, I closed Mozilla and tried several restarts in normal mode. So far, all worked:-)

Still the automatic update process bothers me: it took me several days to discover the reason to the malfunction, since when I removed the problematic version from Add and Remove Programs, I didn't pay attention at first that it was another version, not v26 which I installed from my folder.
In addition, I like to save the installation files before I run new programs and if I didn't have v26 exe file, I couldn't have operated Mozilla at all. Not that it was fun to remove and install again each time v27 didn't react, but it was better than nothing, I still prefer Mozilla over its competition.

Firefox does not start in Windows Vista. It can be seen in the task manager that the process is running. But nothing happens. After deleting the process it still does not work.

Are there any issues with Firefox 10 and Vista? IE works.

I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
