Firefox 4 issue with certain websites and mp3s

Downloaded Firefox 4 for my Mac 10.6.7. I'm no longer able to watch certain videos (like those at adultswim.com) or listen to mp3s. Know this has to do with plugins, but I can't figure out which ones are the issue.

I tried your suggestion, and both the sites I mention above loaded without issue. But I think hardware acceleration was already off:
When I went into the advanced preferences in safe mode, hardware acceleration was unchecked, which, according to the FF guidance I saw on safe mode, is the default in that mode. When I then relaunched FF in normal mode, acceleration was still unchecked. So unless starting in safe mode turned off the acceleration and that setting carried over to normal mode, I'm assuming it wasn't on in the first place.
Because the issue only occurs on a few sites, I'm assuming it is sloppy web design as opposed to a browser problem. I wonder if the issue could be related to the problem sites using Java or Flash, or some script that stymies Firefox, but I don't know how to check that.
The thing that bothers me is that the browser causes the whole system to hang while it struggles with loading the site. I'm no expert, but I don't think that should happen in a four-core, 2.8 GHz system with 6 GB of RAM.

Sorry, Swanarva, It didn't work as it was supposed to. I downloaded, saved file, clicked the download to open, clicked 'run' then got an error message that it couldn't find the file(!) . No idea what happened or why. Should I have uninstalled Firefox first, then downloaded Firefox 8 using another browser or downloaded, uninstalled Firefox 09 beta then tried installing Firefox 8?
At this rate, IE is looking good, despite its shortcomings.

recently updated mac to this version, and since then certain web pages timeout or server not found or they just hang, you get the address come up but the blue wheel spins and the page never loads. (this is the same in safari and chrome) but i can access some pages, and also thunderbird, msn messenger etc, i have cleared history, checked firewall, and done updates still no luck, also if i do get a page to appear ie: ebay / paypal etc they are in a strange format and then it fails at logins, is this a https/http problem or due to a upgrade or more sinister, please advise

Caps Lock Keyboard having issues with certain notes and chords

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a weird issue when I'm using the caps lock keyboard on my macbook pro (running 10.6.2) with logic 8.
When I play certain chords, 1 or 2 of the notes don't sound.
It's almost like I'm having limited polyphony but in a random way.
It's happening on any instrument or plugin.
Sometimes only 3 of 4 notes are ringing out, sometimes 2 of 4, sometimes I can play a big 6 note chord and no notes drop out.
It's not the same note dropping out in multiple chords when it happens, sometimes in one chord a note won't ring out but in a different chord that same note will play fine.
But it's the same chords that give me the same issues every time.
I've already trashed the prefs file (com.apple.logic.pro.cs)
This only happens on my macbook pro on the internal keyboard. It doesn't happen on my desktop mac nor does it happen when I use an external keyboard on the macbook pro.
My Macbook Pro's keyboard functions fine in every other way.
Any Ideas? It's really driving me crazy.

There is a limit to the keyboard response in hardware - it's got better, but in older machines the keyboard processor could only handle about two or three key presses at once.
A qwerty keyboard is not a musical instrument - you cannot guarantee a decent, or quick response - I'd suggest you get a real keyboard if you are writing a piano concerto....

Security issue with a website and java

I am having trouble getting Java to work on a website, the message tells me that I have a security issue but I don't know how to fix it??

"Copy to clipboard" issue with Acrobat X and Skype extension in Firefox

This post is just to let you know that there is and issue with Acrobat X and the Skype extension in Firefox.
I don't know why but when both programs (Firefox and Acrobat) are opened and I try to copy something from a PDF I always get an error
message like "Impossible to copy into the clipboard. An internal error occurred".
If I close Firefox or I disable the Skype extension for Firefox everything runs smoothly.
It is really odd, I don't know if it is a problem of Acrobat, Firefox or of Skype....
Are anyone experiencing the same problem?

Just found your post after getting the same problem with Google Chrome and Adobe Reader 10. It doesn't happen all the time but is annoying. If I switch Chrome off the problem is cured. Switch it straight back on and the problem reappears. It has only started after Skype was installed. Thanks for posting - I'll just switch Chrome off for now when I want to copy and paste unless a fix appears.

Delete background Apps from memory and then Reset.
To Delete background Apps, double click Home button, in the bar at bottom, hold down on an App Icon until the minus sign appears, tap all the minus signs, until all background Apps are cleared from memory. Then Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself, ignor the 'slide to power off' let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.

Firefox stalling out on certain websites, necessitating a forced quit

So! After yet another in a string of updates for one thing or another, Firefox has decided that it does not like certain websites, and it expresses its displeasure by eternally pretending to load information; the spinning rainbow circle of wait appears, and would continue to spin into eternity if not for the "force quit" option.
As soon as I try to open one of these websites there is a brief pause where you almost start to think that this time it might actually work, but then, no, everything freezes, the spinning rainbow appears, and I have to force quit. I have force quit, no joke, about 500 times over the past three days. Affected websites include Netflix, a website for school, and the same thing happened when I tried the suggested "reset Firefox" thing.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, Adobe Flash, and Silverlight. I have tried opening and running Firefox in 32-bit. Nothing has even remotely worked.
This is really, really frustrating, because prior to all of these unnecessary updates which rendered it useless, Firefox was my preferred method of being on the web.

I can understand why you chose that name. Unfortunately I do not use Mac's and can only initially offer general advice. The new reset feature should work and in your situation sounds like a good idea.

Maybe you could read that article, attempt the reset, and then post back to explain exactly what does or does not happen.
Plugins list and other information
You appear to have had a problem with finding which plugins are installed. The Ask Question prompts suggest copying it from

An alternative method to get the same information is to key into the location bar (where you type web addresses) ''about:support'' and then use the Return/Enter key or click the arrow.
The page of troubleshooting information even has a button allowing you to easily copy all the information.
Not Loading or hanging
It will probably be worth attempting to use an alternative browser; such as Safari; as a comparative test to see if that also has problems. Then look at these articles

Upddate the OS & Consider the possibility of Malware
This is something Mac users traditionally have not been too concerned about. There were a few worldwide headlines a couple of months back. Please make absolutely certain that you have the latest updates to your Operating System.

Firefox causing problems with web pages and Yahoo

Firefox has been causing problems with:
Yahoo: no matter how many times I reset the font size, it is always much bigger. Also the "From" box (where my name and email address appear) has shrunk;
This does not happen in Chrome
A particular website has suddenly stopped working: http://explore.org/#!/live-cams/player/kitten-rescue-cam
Instead of seeing what is going on on the live cam, all I get is a green screen.
This does not happen in Chrome.
I have followed all the instructions:
- Reset Firefox
- Disabled and re-enabled add-ons
And yet this has solved nothing. Iam now having to run both Firefox and Chrome at the same time. This is highly frustrating. I like Firefox better than Chrome but problems are mounting up and I do need help.
Has any one got some idea what is going on?

Thank you for your input. I did try Font size, reset, zoom... the lot and nopes it did nothing. As I said the problem is in Firefox, not in Chrome.
I also checked the plug-ins issue and it seems they are in order and up to date.
Now this morning, the website has been working again in Firefox (was working ok in Chrome).
Overall Firefox's performance with some websites is poor. My health report confirms the number of times it crushes (many times a day, which is highly frustrating). I am keen to keep Firefox as it is so mcuh nicer in many ways than Chrome but it's performance is an issue for me... sigh...

We are just users like yourself. If Apple has stated publicly about the problems you mentioned, it will be listed on their website and/or in one of their Knowledge Base Articles.
I have a 27" & do not suffer from such a problem. You should keep in mind that these are technical support forums. Generally, the only people posting here are those with problems. The thousands/millions without problems don't ever come here.
Think of these forums as a hospital emergency room.

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. Apple Support admitted an Issue with WEP authentication and some Routers

After reading many posts here and other places I logged a service call to Apple support. With the particulars: AT&T U-verse 2 Wire router would not connect with WEP would connect with Security disabled. I wanted a call logged before I went past the return time
I got a call back immediately after a few basic questions I was passed to a product manager for ipads, it seems connectivity issues are taken seriously.
The upper level support said there were known issues with some routers and WEP security we steeped through changing the security and it works fine now.
Bottom Line:
Apple knows there is an issue with some routers
They were very helpful and acknowledged the issue.
He even stayed on the line while I reconfigured one of my Windows PC to make sure it connected to the new settings
I suggest to all to log a call and get a tech support involved before taking the iPad to the local store
They certainly new their are some connectivity issues. If that does not work you can always return it.
He did not admit it was a Apple issue and did not commit that Apple was working on it but it is something they are aware of.
So skip the Apple store got right to tech support.
Just my 2 cents.

Can't agree more. I used to manage a tech support department and it is all about the numbers. No matter how many forum entries the issues that get addressed are dictated by the reports.
So for those that are buying new routers contact Tech Support first even if you end up getting a new router the call is logged that will get Apple's attention.
People that are not familiar with post launch processes have no idea how things that need to get corrected and enhanced are dictated by support requests
