Firefox 4 looks like Firefox 3 only!?

I have recently updated from FF 3 to FF 4 (though update feature).
FF 4 looks very much like FF 3 and not like FF 4 screen shots that I see.
My FF 4 looks like this..

  • Why does Firefox Look Like Chrome??

Because Firefox looks like Chrome Im Sad to say after 7 years im dropping ChromeFox (a fitting name for what ff has become) i will no longer using FF or Suggesting to people i meet to Use FF.
I Will Be Using Comodo Icedragon ( http://www.comodo.com/home/browsers-toolbars/icedragon-browser.php) until i Find a Better Browser. i know i will get a reply saying its not backed by mozilla therefore its not secure. that can be remedied by a good antivirus and Firewall such as AVG whatever you prefer. until i find another Browser does anyone have any good suggestions to try out?
i absolutely refuse to use a bunch of stupid add-ons to remedy the situation (since mozilla adopts apples "theres an app for that" Motto i know its going to most likely be suggested)

  • How to make new Firefox look like old Firefox?

I was looking at the new version of Firefox and really don't like how it looks. If I update to it is there a way to make Firefox look like the old one? 3.6.24 is the version I'm using now, and I really like how it looks.

To restore the old appearance right click the orange Firefox button to open the toolbar context menu or use (F10) View > Toolbars.
    * Click the Menu Bar entry and place a check-mark to make the Menu Bar visible all the time (Windows and Linux).
    * Click "Tabs on Top" to remove the check mark and place the Tab Bar at its original position just above the browser window.

  • How can I make Firefox look like the new updated toolbar?

I installed Firefox 4 on a new computer running Windows XP, but I still have the old look and layout of Firefox. I want to use the new look with the all in one drop down menu bar.
This is a fresh install of Firefox 4 with no previous version installed. Below is what mine looks like.
    See image: http://i52.tinypic.com/1532y4h.jpg

Right-click the Menu bar and click to de-select the Menu bar.

  • How do I make the tool bar displays look like Firefox 3.6?

I have gotten used to the order of the tool bars and would like to make them look like the previous version of Firefox (3.6). Is there a way to move them up or down in FF 4.0?

#<u>If you are not seeing the Menu Bar (File, Edit, View History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)</u> hold down the ALT key while pressing the three keyboard letters VTM.
#*<u>To turn off the Menu bar at any time and use the Firefox button</u> (click on it to drop down the new Menu), click View > Toolbars, click on Menu Bar to remove the check mark. You can always turn it on again using the ALT+V+T+M in step 1 above.
#<u>To move the tabs below toolbars</u>, click View > Toolbars, click "Tabs on top" to un-check it. '''''NOTE: Instead of View > Toolbars, you can click in any blank space on any toolbar to open the dialog.'''''
#<u>To display other toolbars not being displayed</u>, repeat this process View > Toolbars and click on items that do not have a check mark; that will place a check mark next to those items and cause them to be displayed.
#<u>To move items around on the toolbars</u>, you can drag them to the desired location when the Customize Toolbar window is open: View > Toolbars > Customize.
#'''<u>The Reload/Refresh button and the Stop button have been "unified/combined" on the right end of the URL/Location/Address bar</u>''' (where you type a site address).
#*When the Customize Toolbar window is open (View > Toolbars > Customize), the two separate buttons are shown between the URL/Location/Address bar and the Search bar. You can drag those 2 buttons wherever you want them but the order is important when the two are adjacent to one another (side-by-side) :
#**Refresh/Reload on the left and Stop on the right, the buttons will be "unified/combined"
#**Stop on the left and Reload/Refresh on the right, the buttons will be separated
#**If left between the URL/Location/Address bar and the Search bar:
#***Refresh/Reload on the left and Stop on the right, the buttons will be "unified/combined" as part of the URL/Location/Address bar on the right end of it
#***Stop on the left and Refresh/Reload on the right, the buttons will be individually shown outside and to the right of the URL/Location/Address bar

  • IWeb in Firefox Looks Like a Bad Abstract Painting

Running iWeb 3.03 and my pages look fine in Safari or Chrome, but in Firefox it looks like a bad modern art painting -- not off a little; off a LOT.
If you are running Firefox you can see an example of the problem here:
    http://www.nycbicycleshow.com/Bike_Shows/Home.html
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Same here. It looks fine in Firefox 4 for me. Clear the Firefox cache (go to Firefox's Advanced/Network preference pane and click the Clear Now button for offline storage) and try the site again.

  • Burned DVD looks like it only has one field

I have down converted 1080i HDV material to 480i using compressor. The m2v files look fine in the simulator in DVDSP (4.1.0). However when I burn a DVD and play it back, it looks like it is only showing one field. The text is jagged, and you can see the blocky horizontal lines in the video. I have tried auto fields, upper field, and bottom field. Nothing I try seems to help. Any suggestions?

Coul it be related with this thread problem?

  • Why does my Firefox look like the ollder versions? - your examples show a new look with the orange tab in the top left hand corner

The examples shown for Firefox 4 and above show a browser with the orange Firefox tab on the top left corner.
In my case, the browser continues to look - and operate like the older versions.

Go to View (or just right-click on any empty space of Firefox's panels - for example, near the tabs) and turn off the Main Menu Panel. You'll see what you're looking for.

  • How can i make firefox look like windows explorer?

i'm using a custom explorerframe.dll in windows explorer. Now I want the firefox navigation bar(back and forward buttons; address bar) to look exactly the same. Is there a script(userchrome.css) that can do this automatically or do i have to port the style and make my own theme?

Right-click the Menu bar and click to de-select the Menu bar.

  • I have firefox 4, but my borwser keeps looking like firefox 3. I have already download F4 again but it looks the same.

The reload button is still on the right and not in the address bar, for example.

Firefox is not an Adobe product.  Do you happen to mean Fireworks?  If so, do you really mean version 4 or version CS4?  It is not likely a download exists for version 4.

  • Soft shadows around photos on a particular website appear as heavy black frames in Firefox 5.0 although they look like proper shadows in Firefox 4.0 and in other browsers. How can I get the shadows to display correctly??

The shadow effect on two sides of the photos on this site looked fine in Firefox 4.0. When I upgraded to 5.0, the heavy black "frames" appeared in place of the shadows. No change had been made to the website between the time I looked at it in 4.0 and 5.0 (I know because I know the builder of the site). Indeed, it was only about an hour between my two viewings. So I figure the odd appearance has to have something to do with 5.0. But what? Is this fixable? Or do I need to wait for 5.1?

That is either a bug in Firefox 5 or the script has a problem with Firefox 5.<br />
It works in all other Firefox versions like Firefox 3 and 4 and 6 (Aurora) and 7 (Nightly).

  • I can pin three or four websites that load when I open Firefox, but I do not want a homepage to open full. Can I just have pinned sites open? At this point it looks like I must have homepage. Can a homepage be pinned?

I have three or four sites that I want pinned when my browser opens. And would like only those to open pinned and not have another tab (homepage) open.
Or if something has to open I'd like to choose one of my pinned sites to be focused on but still pinned.[http://www.dougsstuff.com/tabs.PNG link text]

Thank you for trying the new Firefox. I'm sorry that you’re unhappy with the new design.
I understand your frustration and surprise at the removal of these features but I can't undo these changes. I'm just a support volunteer and I do not work for Mozilla. But you can send any feedback about these changes to http://input.mozilla.org/feedback. Firefox developers collect data submitted through there then present it at the weekly Firefox meeting
I recommend you try to adjust to 29 and see if you can't make it work for you before you downgrade to a less secure and soon outdated version of Firefox.
Here are a few suggestions for restoring the old design. I hope you’ll find one that works for you:
*Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer] to bring back the old design. Learn more here: [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]]
*Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ Add-on Bar Restored] to bring back the add-on bar. Learn more here: [[What happened to the Add-on Bar?]]

  • How do I make firefox 4 look more like firefox 3?

I am considering updating the household computers to firefox 4, however, the older members of the household dont do changes with their computers very well, to that end, I wish to know how to make firefox 4 look like firefox 3.

If you do not like the new appearance of Firefox 4 then you can change some setting to restore the Firefox 3 appearance.<br />
You can right click the orange Firefox button to open the toolbar context menu or use (F10) View > Toolbars.
    * Click "Menu Bar" to place a check mark and make the Menu Bar visible all the time.
    * Click "Tabs on Top" to remove the check mark and place the Tab Bar at its original position just above the browser window.

  • The I-do-not-like-Firefox-29-layout topic

'''(For Forum Moderators: Please read [/forums/forum-moderators/710264?last=59300])'''
Moderators, please read first before closing/removing this topic right away?<br>
To those wanting to react here on this topic: please, also read ;)<br>
Since my original posting https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997009 was closed because one of the moderators felt it was going off-topic (although it was red a lot and had 131 "have-this-problem" in just a few days), here a kind of re-opening but on-topic.<br>
Why? Because I feel we have the right to express our feelings on this major change. And publicly there is actually only this forum where that can be done on the Mozilla.org domain.<br>
Sure, the change is there and we have to live with it (if we choose to). But that doesn't mean we can not have our voice here because after many, many years of supporting FF with our use, we suddenly are facing a layout we were always running away from.<br>
So yes, that can cause ranting and so on (within the forum rules of course) because people feel strongly about there beloved browser.<br> (edit rules [[Forum rules and guidelines|link]] note the whole topic is ordinarily outside the scope of the forum ... Posts in the Mozilla support forum must be either questions about the use of Firefox, ... Users who post about things other than Mozilla support will be directed to an alternative discussion place .... . ~J99)
Plus this way you can centralize all the negatives here instead of a lot of separate postings about the same subject ;)<br>
To the people reacting here in this topic: there is only 1 real way to let Mozilla itself know how you feel on the new lay out and that is not through this forum. The way is to go to https://input.mozilla.org/feedback/ and let it know there. <br/> '''edit''' <s>You need to use a supported Firefox to post Feedback so that will soon not be possible from Fx28 </s> 2nd edit. I was wrong feedback works with any version of Fiefpx now~J99 <br/>
And I think when that is done in normal words (so no f*ck you rants and so on) and suggestions, then maybe, just maybe, it has some effect.<br>
Also, there is an Mozilla support page with info on how to get the "old look" back, see <!-- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox EDIT better link as extone is capable of redirecting to match: locales, versions, & OS --> [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]]But it will only partly restore the old look, certain FF29 things can not be changed.<br>
And yes, I myself am back to Firefox 28 which is not supported or suggested by Mozilla because it has things (bugs and security) that are not fixed in it. ('''Edit''' Please use Official downloads if you must downgrade links in [[Install an older version of Firefox]] and the growing list of exploits you will open yourself up to is listed here: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html ~J99)
I am not suggesting or advertising to others to do the same. It is a risk I am willing to take and only say it is an option. <br /> edit My reason to go back to FF 28 is because that version still has the intuitive feel and look Firefox one was praised for. With a logical lay out and a good way to simply customize it (also in about:config).<br>
For those who say/think "Come one man, stop whining! Grow up and just accept that Firefox has to go with its time!", to them I say: nope ;)<br><br>

    <br />2nd: re feedback

Because I do not stand behind it: I think it's very weird to first make a complete overhaul and then write an article on how to overhaul the overhaul.<br>
For me that's the same as to complete redesign your favourite car, including parts of it's engine. Then, after that massive job, offering that car and make a remark that you can get a make-over to make it look like the old design again. They will put me in a straitjacket and I will be taken away I think ;)<br>
Don't get me wrong: I think it's a great sign of support that the article is there. It's an acknowledgement by Mozilla that they understand that there are people who want the old layout.<br>
But it's also something that is only done by the "hardcore" users. There are more then enough people who do not know about this forum, the article or whatever and are badly surprised with the overhaul.<br>
And then there is the matter of principle: there are a lot of users who feel that their browser has been sold out. By that I mean that Mozilla made a choice to make the base of Firefox look like the other two mainstream browsers. For them Firefox was THE choice to go against the "big guys". Now that feeling has been taken away and no overhaul of the overhaul article can take that feeling away.<br>
Personally I belong also a bit in that last category: I still have and wear the big, heavy Firefox T-shirt I got many years ago ;)
