Firefox 4 opens mail in a non-resizable window on clicking a mail ID of my 1and1webmail list

My company has provided me a mail account in 1and1 web mail. Whenever I click a mail in the list for display, the mail is opened in a non-re-sizable fixed window that has only a close option. This does not happen for other websites. This problem doesn't appear in IE9 also.
My Os is Win 7 starter and the Firefox version is 4. I could not update to 5, as it finds my "Awesome Screenshot" add-on incompatible that I need for my work.

I want to add that there are no related re-sizable options in in my mail account. If I click any link in the non-re-sizable window mail, that link is opened in a tab as set in Firefox options.

I want to open a folder in a separate window by clicking on it.  For some reason when I click on a folder it just replaces the one I was just in.  I want them both to be open at the same time without having to go through several steps. Old apple operating systems made it easy to have several folders open at one time.

Eric, thanks that works but seems like an extra added step also to do it that way.  I've got to move and organize a ton of files and I'm looking for a easy way to get this done.  I could also open the folder into a separate tab and then drag the tab out so it becomes an open window but thats a lot of fussing around also with extra steps.  Not sure why these newer operating system seems more confusing and less user friendly than what they used to.  In the past I could just click on any folder and it would open in a separate window making it really easy to copy or move files from one place to the other just by simply dragging them from one window to the other.  Seems like I'm going through several extra steps now to do a simple task.

• Firefox not opening mail in yahoo

When I try to open mail in yahoo.com I end up with a blank white screen. It seems to be going thru the motion at the bottom but then end up with "done" and all I have is that blank white screen. It happens mostly when I get an email from companies or if there is an attachment. I can go to Safari and open the mail so it must be something with firefox. I am using a mac.

If you left-click a link then that link is always opened in a the current tab.<br />
You need to middle-click a link or use command+Left-click to open the link in a new tab.<br />
The setting in Firefox > Preferences > Tabs only makes it possible to divert links that specify a target window to open in a new tab instead.
You can look at these extensions:
*Open Bookmarks in New Tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-bookmarks-in-new-tab/
*Open Link in New Tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-link-in-new-tab/

• How to I get firefox to open my email on a separate window or tab maximised

duplicate of - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/898304
I want my email to open maximised in a new window or new tab so only the new open email window / tab is visible over the screen area (maximised).
Edit: Can Anyone tell me how I can keep track of my questions?
I spent a good bit of time locating it, thanks.

Middle-click or {Ctrl + click} a link to have it open in a new tab.
Or, right-click the link and select Open Link in a New Window (or New Tab).
Window size isn't going to change when opening a link, if you want it Maximized, that is a separate click if the original window isn't already Maximized.
Full Screen is window by window, and is toggled by F11.

• Open help file in new, resized window

I have been trying to set up a button in Captivate which is when clicked opens another Captivate demo that is sized to fixed width/height with no toolbars. While I can open the demo in a new window I can't make it open as a browser frame only.
An example of what I am trying to do can be found in the link below. Click the ? (Help) in the demo to see athe sized window open.
http://www.saskstories.ca/english/work/1stpeoples/index.html
A code example would help me a great deal to get started....
Thanks.

I acutally tried a very similar code before within the Execute Javascript option and nothing happened. I tried the code you provided above as well. Nothing happens when I click the button. I do not think this is a pop-up blocker issue and at this point I am not even sure it is a script issue either. I am testing the file locally from our fileshare and working with Captivate 5.
Thank you!

• How do I make Firefox the default browser in a non-administrative Windows XP account, where clicking to do so has no effect?

I have two accounts for myself on my PC running Windows XP. In the administrative account, Firefox is already the default browser that opens when I double-click an HTML file, etc. Firefox knows it's the default browser there.
In my other account, every time I start Firefox, it tells me it's not the default browser. Clicking there to make it the default, or in the options, does nothing.
When I go to Set Program Access and Defaults in the administrative account, "Use my current Web browser" is selected. Mozilla Firefox is not listed as an option. In my non-administrative account, the Add or Remove Programs control panel can't be used. It says I don't have permission.

To check that in the other account you would have to give it temporarily administrator permissions.

• Firefox always opens maximized and does not save window size unless I delete localstore.rdf

I use Linux MInt 13 with Cinnamon 1.6.7. Since the updates to Firefox 17 came through the update manager, the program always opens maximized, no matter what state I close it in. When I de-maximize, it comes up in a different size and position than the last time.
Some googling turned up that this can be due to a corrupted localstore.rdf file, and indeed the window sizing works properly if I delete that before starting.
It also works propoerly in safe mode, but even a fresh install without any add-ons, search engines or anything opens in window mode at first startup, but will always open in the same place as the first time after I move and close it, and if I resize it, it goes back to always opening maximized.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello norumaru, did you try to Turn off hardware acceleration ? (in safe mode hardware acceleration is disable).

• Why does firefox not open the address in the browser window via dvd@ccess?

I am building a dvd with dvd studio 4 latest version on a brand new MB Pro / Snow Leapard. dvd@ccess is enabled in dvd studio pro 4 as well as on my computer. The function opens a browser window, but firefox does NOT automatically type in the required address. Therefore the browser does not look it up. This is not likely related to dvd studio pro, since dvd@ccess links to mailto: with no problem, and entourage correctly opens a new mail with the proper address. Please help. Fast – I am supposed to deliver a project! Thanks ;-)

Ok, well I found it quickly without really finding the source of the problem. I created my account here in order to post this problem, and when I received the account confirmation email to activate my account, clicking the hotlink opened a browser window WITHOUT the address! So I restarted firefox and lo and behold, I could confirm my account via the hotlink and dvd@ccess now works, even in the dvd studio pro simulator. Why this bug appeared remains to be answered. Thanks and good luck.

• How can I prevent Firefox from opening a second instance of Excel when I click on a web link to a .csv file?

I can't find anything about this online

The CSV files are send as Content-Type: text/comma-separated-values
Do you mean that you also see the file in a Firefox tab or do you get two Excel instances?
You can try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

• How can I get Firefox to open the page of a link I've clicked on in an email?

Every time I click on a link, in an email (or in Facebook), unless a Firefox page is already open, I usually get my home page first. Then I have to go back to the email window to access the link again to get the page I wanted from the link. Is there a workaround?

• Why will my firefox not open all the time on my windows xp pro and gives me an error message instead?

I some times get this message "The instructions at "ox879ab0e3 referenced memory at "ox879ab0e3" . The memory could not be "read". Check ok to terminate the program.
And sometimes the session will simply not update since the firefox has shutdown but the then present sites are open but won't update.
If shut down my computer and restart, I have better than an 80% chance that fire fox will not open---probably less than 29% chance that it will open. I have to just repeat the shut down over and over until fire fox will open.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• Tried everything, cannot get firefox to open new tab rather than new window. set options, cleared cache, rebooted. win 7 firefox v26

Win 7 64bit desktop.
Set tools --> options --> tabs OPEN new windows in new TAB instead checked.
apply/save .. tried from there, tried exiting firefox. tried clearing cache.
what else???

Hello leelassow, Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• On one desktop in my shop, Firefox keeps opening a software update screen. If I click the next button allowing the update to proceed, it will state that it's connecting to the update server. It will do that all day and never finish.

Happens every time I boot the desktop and open Firefox for the first time.

Do a clean (re-)install:
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

• When I start Firefox it opens my tabs plus several other windows to sites I do not want (marketing, sales, poker etc.)

To clean up a day's session, I often close all applications including Firefox. When I re-open it, nmy tabs appear, but also three or four separate windows like "Poker site" or some "media" site, and other advertising sites. How can I prevent this?

You can click-drag the tab of the page you are viewing over to the homepage icon on the toolbar. When you drop it, a prompt will ask you whether you'd like to set it as your homepage. Click "Yes".
I hope that helps!
If this doesn't solve your problem, it's possible that another piece of installed software is changing your homepage.
