Firefox 4 tab-switching hot keys not registering?

When I watch videos online via YouTube or other streaming or flash media, the tab switching keyboard shortcuts (Cmd+2, Cmd+3, etc.) will not switch to the desired tab. I have to click on some blank space on the side of the website in order for it to register. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't been able to find centralized forums at Mozilla, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Their support system seems very decentralized - you post a problem and it sits out in cyberspace until someone stumbles upon it. You can't browse like a traditional message board, I can't even categorize it so people can better find it. But yes, I have posted the problem in their "system" and didn't get much help there other than someone suggesting gfxCardStatus to toggle manually (not exactly a fix like I said).
I've heard of some people trying to use NoScript to block flash (flash is the culprit in a lot of websites that sap battery life surreptitiously but I haven't tried it personally. My issue with trying NoScript is that it is just another "workaround" and not a solution. NoScript will undoubtedly have unintended side effects/consequences where websites just don't display right or "work properly" and I'll probably end up having to toggle it on and off -- no different than fiddling around with gfxCardStatus to turn the discrete dGPU on and off.
Ditto to disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox 4 options (which actually doesn't fix the problem of the dGPU being wrongly activated, and ends up causing more problems than it solves).

Hello, I have the HP2000 laptop and my key compresses frequently d not register unless pressed alot harder than normal. This pc is only a few months od and I feel this is not usual. Is there a quick fix or adjustment or am I stuck learning how to type like a caveman with 10lb fingers???

Well you should not have to press the keyboard extremely hard to get it to recognize your key strokes. Have you connected an external keyboard to see if the issue occurs still?

Flex 2-14 keyboard flexing in the center and left. Keys not registering.

Hello Lenovo Community,
I recieved my Flex 2-14 about 2 weeks ago. Right after I took it out and began using it I noticed the keyboard was really "flexing" when typing, especially in the middle and left side.
Also, when typing, sometimes the keys won't register which causes letters to be missing in words. In almost every sentence I type there are letters always missing. I noticed that I have to press in the exact center of keys or else they will not register. Even if I press a key all the way down on the sides, nothing happens. This is a really disappointing keyboard from Lenovo, definitely the worst I've used.
Is anyone else experiencing either of these issues? What can I do to get this fixed?

Hi, yes having exactly the same issue syptoms as you hve described. Took it back to PC World - advised that was the design!

LENOVO G580 HOT KEY NOT WORKING

Sir, I bought lenovo laptop g580 my model no is
WB0208030S.. i bought one month before... now the hot keys for brightness, volume , wireless are not working... i can't operate my hotkeys which is now harder to activate wifi for me ...when i press Fn+f5 key the wireless option which displayed before is not now showing it is same for brightness(Fn+down/up) and volume (Fn+right)....

All the hotkeys combinations are controlled by the lenovo energy management software. So i reccomend you to reinstall/install it again. Its setup would be present in the lenovo drive of your hdd. If not then please download it from support site.

Adding Custom Hot Keys, not Keyboard Shortcuts

So, I've gone online and done some research but I can't seem to find anything on creating custom, universal hot keys. Everything seems to be about keyboard shortcuts, which are great within the applications, but I'm looking to create Hot Keys that launch applications or folders.
For example, in Quicksilver (which is no longer working for some reason) I had a trigger to open my Applications folder set at "controlshiftA" one for my documents folder at "controlshiftD" and one to launch Safari at "controlshiftZ" but I can't seem to set this up without some sort of app launcher.
I also don't want to use an app launcher because the additional engine it uses just clogs up my resources and increases my start-up time by about a minute....

You can't. You need an application launcher for those tasks.

as I said there is no way around that. either you use an application launcher or you won't have that functionality. 1 minute extra startup time sounds way too much. I use Butler, not quicksilver but I know for sure it only adds a few seconds and consumes very few resources when it runs. I suspect it's the same way with Quicksilver.

Hot Keys Not Working With Yosemite

I recently updated to Yosemite from Snow Leopard and have been having some issues with my hot keys. I'm working in CS6 and have updated the latest version of Photoshop from the Adobe Manager.
The hot keys do work sometimes, but then they stop. Is anyone else have this issue, or is there an update in the works?
It's such a slower work process to have to go through the menus to find what I want, mainly Command Z.

Space Bar hot key not working after recent Indesign update

Hi all
I just did the most recent update (3-31-14) and now the space bar hot key isn't working, nor is the hot key for duplication (option). So, uh, anyone else notice this, and if so, Adobe, you gonna fix this in the update? These two functions missing are messing with my work flow.

Try restoring your InDesign preferences. Here's how:

You're assuming that it's an InDesign bug that you lost your shortcuts. That is almost always a local computer glitch. None of the rest of us have that problem, we would be flooded with reports if that is true.

Dock not working; command-tab switch between programs not working

The Dock does not work. I have restarted (although the computer will not restart under "Restart", getting stuck at the last part, and needs to be restarted manually). When I change Dock preferences it reverts back to default settings. If I am lucky, the dock will appear and then disappear (poof) without having functioned.
The command tab function for switching between programs stopped working also.
The individual programs work, but I have to go to recent items to switch programs.
Further, I have two Previews open (with different documents in each) even though I have only one Preview program.
A whole lot of bizarre things that may be connected? I would appreciate any help.

You could try removing the .plist file again, but this time, try also removing the com.apple.dock.db file. Then log out and log in again.

So, does the problem persist with another user account?

Function keys not registering with Spaces?

I just noticed that F10 no longer does the spaces expose. I can the function key to F11 and it still does nothing. It's not interfering with any regular expose, I checked. The key itself is not stuck because when I switch any other expose function to it it works just fine.
I have spaces turned on and if I click on the spaces icon in applications it does the expose. Spaces is still on and Ctrl + Arrow still moves between them, so I know spaces is working. I just noticed it now, it might have happened during the last update (it was iTunes I think)
I searched and didn't find anything, so I doubt it was the update, I think it's just my computer. Little help?

I've been having a similar problem- I set the shortcut keys for Expose, and then after a reboot it will have lost them.
I'm also running spaces too.

GUI / Hot keys not always typical

The Save Files dialog box "Package XYZ has been modified. Save changes?" has Yes / No / Cancel buttons.
The Y and N letters are underlined. In windows (my environment) that normally means that a Y or N pressed will take that option. In the SQL Developer GUI, it needs to be an Alt+N or Alt+Y keypress.

License Key not registering - trial version notification reoccurs

Hi Everyone,
I've installed Xcelsius 2008 and I've entered a valid keycode in the trial version notification. It accepts the keycode, but everytime I start Xcelsius again it has the same prompt.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I've tried.
Completely uninstalled all Business Objects software (removed orphan files/folders and cleaned registry of all Business Objects entries)
Tried using the license manager within Xcelsius to register the license key
As you can imagine it is pretty frustrating having to enter the keycode everytime i start Xcelsius.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you go to Registry under->Hkey-Local Machine->Software->suite12.0->Xcelsius and check if the keycode string is present there and has the same keycode which you enter?

Keys not registering the correct characters

My Mac Mini all of a sudden is starting to behave really unusually. When I try to type anything certain letters that I hit on the keyboard would produce a three-letter combination. For example when I type the period character on the keyboard, instead of getting (.), I would end up with (.o9) I believe the letter (b) turns into (bt4).
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I tried restoring the defaults in the system preferences and that didn't seem to work.

How can I disable Control+PageUp/Control+PageDown Tab switch? I have found various addons to provide additional key combinations for this action, but no option to disable that (these key combinations are mapped on my X server to serve as Home/Pos1 and End, and I would like to have that functionality within firefox as well).

Hi Guigs2, I already tried that (and a whole bunch of other key costumization/mapping plugins), and it does not help. It helps to add other shotcuts for the tab switching, but does not give an option to eliminate the existing key combination. Thank you anyways.

Styles hot keys: Gone in Pages 5???

I use Pages for writing documents with multiple paragraph styles. Assigning them hot keys made life pretty easy (Fn+1,2,3,etc).
In the new Pages not only are the hot keys not working, the Assign Hot Key option from the menu is gone!
Or am I just dense and missing where it went? I cannot believe Apple would eliminate them.

X240 F8 Wifi function (fn) key not working

Hi guys,
Just wondering if you guys have the same problem with the F8 wifi switch function key not working?
The F8 function key only works if I have the "Network" page opened on the right hand side (by clicking on the network logo on the task bar). It doesn't do anything if I just press it without that network page out.
Is it suppose to do that?

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Wifi on ThinkPad X240.
This kind of issue occurs when there is error in the Power Management application. Hence we request you to check with updating the Power Management application from the drivers page.
If your system is installed with Windows 7 OS, then you have to install both Power Management and Power Manager Application.
Below is the link to enter the downloads page and install exact Power Management application accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.
