Firefox 4 Totally removed 3 incl registry 4 loaded will not open

Cleaned registry Reload Firefox 4 Click on desktop icon starts to try to locate application then stops .Have also tried to run firefox direct from download site No other firefox versions in processors. OS windows 7 Had no problems with old version.updated Java

No it was a fresh install totally removed all previous versionsIcon is for new firefox4 all plugins are up todate.When I click on icon it tries to open but just drops outwith completely no change or desktop activity.Have also tried thru the programs run mode still will not open Have removed & reloaded several times firewall & antivirus turned off no different.Firefox used to run perfect on Vers 3.06

    I had tried this before, but went ahead and tried this again.
    I clicked on "reset Firefox". Firefox closed, but did not come back up. When I tried to open it again, I did receive a message that said Firefox is running but is not responding, that I couldn't open another window without stopping the processes on the other page.
    I never got a window that showed me the information that was imported, or a place to click finish.
    Since I don't believe this completed, I don't believe my problem will be solved.

    that function of mapquest works on IE.
    it also worked on firefox 3.6. so i downgraded back to 3.6.

    Otherwise, I don't really have a guess as to why that function doesn't work. You could try it in Firefox's Safe Mode; if that works, it could indicate a conflict with one of your add-ons.

    I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

  • Had a problem with hijacked browsers. Got it cleaned, Firefox will not open or un install. I want to remove existing and install a "clean" one.

    Browsers were hijacked, found and quaranteened(sp?) the bugs, Mozilla will not open from the desktop, Programs. Tried to un-install either one-no joy.   • Firefox will not open. Hangs at "connecting" stage. Non-responsive even to process shut-down via task manager.

    Starting yesterday, Firefox will not open at all. It hangs at the "connecting stage." For hours. It will not shut down even using the task manager for applications or processes, and it locks up virtually every other application. I thought I managed to save an open Word document yesterday - it looked like a slow, but normal save during the Firefox hang, but the document was empty when I restarted my computer.
    Even though my machine is not pentium 4 based, I tried starting using the Windows XP/M configuration, I downloaded and re-installed (over the top of) the existing version, I verified that no Mozilla processes were running before trying to start Mozilla, and tried creating a new profile. Absolutely no success. Every time (of the dozens) I have tried to start Firefox I have had to force a hard shut-down to get out of the application. I have now unpinned Firefox from my task bar because I keep forgetting and hitting it by reflex.
    I am running version 11.0 (at least that is what I just downloaded - I am not positive what I was running yesterday). My system is Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i3, 2.4 gHz, 4 GB RAM, 64 bit OS.
    Next option is to restore to a previous version. If that doesn't work, I will uninstall and start over from scratch.

    Firefox opened today at 5 pm. I closed it when finished, then tried to reopen it about 6 pm - it will not open. I have tried several times in the last hour and it will not open.
    When I attempt to open Firefox, the 'busy' circle spins for several seconds, but then it stops, but Firefox NEVER opens and I get NO ERROR MESSAGE so I have no clue as to what the problem is.
    I have a Dell PC, running Microsoft Windows Vista, 32 bit (I think). AS far as I know, there were no updates of any kind that preceded the Firefox problems, which started about one week to 10 days ago.
    I have re-downloaded the program; I have uninstalled and then redownloaded the program to no avail. I can not figure out any kind of pattern, although it does seem to be more likely to open in the a.m. hours - but not always.
    I really prefer Firefox as my default browser, but I will not continue to use it on such an intermittant basis. Please help me trouble shoot this issue. By the way, I have had no problems, when Firefox won't open, opeing IE or Chrome, so I know it is not a generalized internet access issue.
