Firefox 4 upgrade: program automatically sending previously saved personal data to websites ingnoring what's just been entered - glitch in program?

Something weird is happening in V4 so I've already rolled back to 3.6. On entering details (names, address, passwords) on website forms, V4 is sending personal data entered previously (cached?). It ignores what's just been entered on the form - it sends the old data! Has anyone else experienced this?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

ESS Problem saving Personal Data

Hi all,
When i tried to save personal data, it shows a screen where i can edit, then review and then save.
Everytime i press the Save button, the data are stored in the backend system, but then i get the following error.
Anyone have any ideas?

Everytime I send a picture from my old computer to the new one it becomes a winmail.dat. While it was a jpg when I send it. Also pictures people send me become winmail.dat very annoying. What can I do about it

okay-what type of machine are you sending it from ? It may be helpful to check "Send Windows-friendly stuff" maybe try sending it as an attachment or zipping it, then attaching it. Hopefully something will work in your situation-please see other people's posts on this topic

IOS4 Backup is sending all your personal data (i.e. pics) to apple

I called Apple today to find out why my back up was going so slow (so far 5 hours for about 40% backup). She said it was based on how fast my internet connection was. I said why do I need an internet connection to back up my phone to my laptop. She said I was backing it up to my ITUNES account at Apple. I said why does apple need to store pictures of my kids. She said that banks keep your personal info why not apple. ***???? I wonder if Droid does the same thing when you "back up your phone"??
I am offloading all my pics, music, etc. prior to trying this again. I might just not upgrade the 3g phone at all...

iTunes account data is not your iPhone contents. Calm down, take deep breath and relax. Its undoubtedly taking a long while as there will be a load of junk data left there to sort out. It needs internet access as it will validate your phone is in a legal state (i.e. not hacked) as if it is, it will relock it all over again.

Firefox 8 upgrade file does not start after downloading it.

I am using Firefox 3.0.19. I tried to download the .exe for firefox 8 in order to upgrade, but when I start the exe, the only window that pops up is asking if I want to run the upgrade under this user or another. When selecting my user (I have admin rights), the window closes and nothing happens.
Do I first need to uninstall Firefox 3 ?
And also, will my bookmarks be kept when upgrading (of course without first uninstalling ff 3). Or which file should I backup and where should I place it back?

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You may have to start the installer as administrator via the right-click context menu: Run as Administrator
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Reactivate Console's "Automatically Send Anonymous Diagnostic and Usage Data to Apple"

I accidentally unchecked "Automatically Send Anonymous Diagnostic and Usage Data to Apple" on Console Preferences and immediately after that, this option grayed out, don't understand why. For me it's ok to send that information, I understand it helps to improve Apple's software performance and future software updates.
Could you please help me to reactivate this automatically?

As I am writing this I don't see a way to reenable that checkbox (I'll keep searching). FWIW the Console help says the following about that checkbox:
If you deselect “Automatically send diagnostic and usage data to Apple”, you will no longer see the option. When you encounter one of the events described earlier, you’ll see the message asking if you want to send diagnostic information to Apple.
So unless I can find a way to reset it (haven't looked at plists yet or did any real research) it appears to be a one way switch. Once thrown, it's off, period.

1) Want to send file data to socket
2) and the name of the file to socket
in client
1) read the file data from socket
2) read the file name from the socket
3) and save the file.
how can i do this, I know how to send only file data, but i am finding dificuilt to send both.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

Have your husband text the word "stop" to 48369. This should take his number out of the iMessage system.
Go into your settings under messaging and make sure the box to send as an SMS if iMessage is unavailable is checked.
Hopefully this will get your messages sending/receiving to each other.

How to stop firefox from opening new tab when opening a pdf that is previously saved on my desktop?

I have previously saved PDF files on my desktop. When I open the PDF, firefox sees fit to open a new tab even though I do not have the browser open. This is annoying because after I close the PDF I then have to close the New Tab browser window as well. This costs me a lot of productivity time as I open a lot of PDF's for work. The PDF file use to show the Adobe logo on the file on desktop. Once I installed firefox it now shows the firefox logo?

In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
