FIREFOX 4 WILL NOT OPEN/START SINCE BEING UPDATED

I was using Firefox daily, then I updated to the new Firefox 4.Since then it will not open/start.
I uninstalled it - cleaned all traces using "Crap Cleaner" - then re-installed it...Same problem! Will not open/start.

I also had this issue after upgrading to Firefox 4.
I just downloaded firefox 3.6.16 installed it and Firefox opened up perfectly fine and everything was back to normal.

  • Firefox will not open now - I just updated my privacy settings, and cleared cookies - what happened?

I changed the privacy settings on Firefox preferences, including clearing cookies, history and cache, and now Firefox will not open at all. It said it had to restart after one of the privacy changes, but it didn't and now won't open by the dock icon or thru applications. What happened, and how can I correct the issue to start using Firefox again? Thanks.

    Hello,
    Try start in Safe Mode:

  • Firefox will not open. Can't update or delete. Says it's already open and I am unable to find how to close it.

Firefox shows notice that it is already open and must be closed in order to update or delete. I can't locate a place to close the process. It's probably something very simple but I am not a computer genius. Thanks!

Have you tried looking for firefox.exe in the Processes tab of Task Manager (you can get to that by using Ctrl-Alt-Delete, usually)? If you click on firefox.exe in that list and then click End Process, it should close Firefox, even if Firefox doesn't appear to be running (sometimes the process takes a bit longer to close than the main window). If all else fails, perhaps a reboot?

  • In Mac os 10.5.8 firefox will not open at all. Updated latest version, used time machine to get back to older version and still will not open. Have to force quit with message Firefox not responding

    Hey kbroch,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If the crash doesn't happen in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
There is also a lot of useful stuff in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox-not-start Firefox won't start] Knowledge Base article. If you've recently upgraded, you might want to check out [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#w_firefox-crashes-when-i-start-it this article] as well.

  • Itunes will not open anymore since latest update?????

i did the new itunes update a short time ago and now i cant open it at all???????????? please help

Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • Since updating last time Firefox will not open new tabs unless I right click on a link. It won't open them via file or the tab at the top of the brwoser. Anyone know how to fix this?

Since updating last time Firefox will not open new tabs unless I right click on a link. It won't open them via file or the tab at the top of the brwoser or usinf ctrl + t. Anyone know how to fix this?

I can press ctrl for a new tab but otherwise a new tab does not open. I actually need help regarding this new Synch which apparently will be in Firefox automatically in an upcoming version so I am asking how that will synch with people who use LastPass-of course because I use this very successfully and really am not eager to change the set up that I have in place at this time.
I have read through endless FAQ trying to find anyone else who has this question or concern but have found nothing. Can you please tell me how that service will get along with LastPass which does basically the same thing as Synch-it is probably spelled wrong as it looks wrong to me but if I click back to where this issue began, I will lose all of this question so please respond for the upcoming service synch.

  • Firefox will not open any new tabs since windows update

I have windows 7 64, and recently, when windows automatically updated, my firefox will not open any new tabs, manually or when opening a link...

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

  • I upgraded from 3.6.13 to Beta 4.0 and now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing.

I uninstalled Beta 4 and re-installed 3.6.13 now Firefox will not open at all I tried to uninstall to start again but it will not uninstall either it does nothing, I have been using Firefox for a long time but cannot resolve this problem can anyone help and give me a solution please. As I use Firefox as my web browser it is very frustrating.
The fact it will not uninstall appears to be something completely new as nobody I know who uses Firefox has ever encountered this in the past.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Updated to android 2.3 on my htc evo 4g and now firefox will not open any tabs?

I've been using Firefox 4 since first few weeks of release and all was great with Android 2.2 on my htc evo 4g. Now updated to 2.3 this past weekend and Firefox will not open any tabs. Have resorted to using stock Dolphin... :(
I miss Firefox. What is the fix?

If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.

It means removing the Firefox application files and then reinstalling Firefox from a fresh download, as explained in the "Reinstall Firefox" step in [[Basic Troubleshooting]]. If that allows you to start Firefox, but if the problem returns after restarting the computer, you should do another "clean reinstall" and then troubleshoot your plugins by disabling all of them, as suggested in the [[Basic Troubleshooting]] article.

  • Firefox will not open. Hangs at "connecting" stage. Non-responsive even to process shut-down via task manager.

Starting yesterday, Firefox will not open at all. It hangs at the "connecting stage." For hours. It will not shut down even using the task manager for applications or processes, and it locks up virtually every other application. I thought I managed to save an open Word document yesterday - it looked like a slow, but normal save during the Firefox hang, but the document was empty when I restarted my computer.
Even though my machine is not pentium 4 based, I tried starting using the Windows XP/M configuration, I downloaded and re-installed (over the top of) the existing version, I verified that no Mozilla processes were running before trying to start Mozilla, and tried creating a new profile. Absolutely no success. Every time (of the dozens) I have tried to start Firefox I have had to force a hard shut-down to get out of the application. I have now unpinned Firefox from my task bar because I keep forgetting and hitting it by reflex.
I am running version 11.0 (at least that is what I just downloaded - I am not positive what I was running yesterday). My system is Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i3, 2.4 gHz, 4 GB RAM, 64 bit OS.
Next option is to restore to a previous version. If that doesn't work, I will uninstall and start over from scratch.

  • Firefox will not open unless I run it in compatibility mode (Windows XP SP 3), run it as an administrator, or launch it immediately after a reinstall (the reinstall thing only works once.) How do I fix this?

This morning, Firefox crashed. After this, when I click the Firefox icon, the hourglass appears and then nothing happens. Firefox does briefly appear in the task manager when I do this.
I tried rebooting. I tried reinstalling multiple times. (Firefox will run when I select "Launch Firefox" from the installer. Then the problem occurs again.) I tried safe mode. I have found that Firefox will work if I select Windows XP compatibility mode from the icon properties menu or if I run the program as an administrator. When I do this, Windows asks me if I want a program to be able to make changes to my computer.
I have noticed that a Windows Error Report is being generated each time Firefox will not open.

  • Firefox will not be trashed won't update

I updated to FireFox 4.0 for Mac about a month or so ago. It was working fine. A couple days had passed and all of a sudden I noticed a 'Padlock' on the left corner of the Firefox Icon. I have no idea what that means. Firefox still worked but when 4.0.1 came out... It would find the update but install would fail.
So I manually downloaded the application and moved it to Applications folder but said I do not have access to those privileges. I can not 'Trash' the application or even open it at this point. (When I try to open it... it says 'You can't open the application Firefox because it may be damaged or incomplete.)
I'm all of out ideas. I'm pretty new to using a Mac so any help would be appreciated.
    I am the administrator.
