Firefox 4 won't load Google-related Pages (e.g., iGoogle; Gmail) - Shows "301 Moved Permanently"

Firefox 4 won't load any Google-related pages for me. The only exception is that sometimes I can use Google search, otherwise no other Google-related pages load.
For many other sites, I receive either a "301 Moved permanently" or a "302" error message. I disabled ALL of my plugins to see if this would help; however, the pages continue to fail to load.
Any ideas on what's going on or what I can do to fix this? Otherwise, I am switching browsers!

I was having an issue with gmail after upgrading to FF4. Trying to load gmail, FF kept asking to save a file of type application/binary. The file itself was a .part file. Not sure what all this was about, but I deleted all gmail related cookies and gmail loaded and ran fine after that.

  • Firefox won't load google image search results

Firefox won't load google search results. It will load the page of results with the thumbnails etc. but if you click any of them, just a loading spinning icon appears on the tab and it never loads.
    I have tried:
Both logged in and out of google account,
All other areas of google work with no problems (news, shopping etc.),
Site working perfectly in Internet Explorer,
    Running firefox in safemode,
Manually disabling all plugins and addons,
    Clearing the cache and cookies,
Opening results in new tab just results in white page with web address but it never loads,
Restarting both my PC and router.
It's not been working for at least the past 6 hours. Last time I used it was about a week ago and it was working fine then. I've not noticed any problems on any other sites this week that I can recall.

Updating firefox to version 17.0 appears to have solved this.

  • After I boot up from standby, Firefox won't load any web pages

If I let the computer go into standby on it's own, once I start it up again and open Firefox, it won't load any webpages...the wireless icon in the taskbar is showing connection, but nothing happens other than the address bar on Firefox says "loading"

I had this problem too. Running 32 bit Vista on a Toshiba Satellite U305 laptop. When you fold the lid it doesn't matter if Firefox is running or not, when you open it and the system wakes up, then Firefox 7.0.1 doesn't work any longer. Firefox either will not load if it wasn't running when the system went to sleep or it will soon hang if it was running. I started having this problem 2 weeks ago and have since then been uninstalling and reinstalling software that recently updated, checking configurations etc of ZoneAlarm, AVG, Acronis, etc. but nothing I did seemed to resolve the problem. Then this morning I was about to rebuild my system and remembered something I did a couple of weeks ago, install iTunes to support a used iPhone I was given.
I decided to try removing iTunes before undertaking a rebuild and this fixed the problem. Now that I think about it, I installed iTunes on this laptop when it was new and had to remove it because it slowed it down so much. It looks like they resolved a lot of iTunes performance degradation over the years but iTunes still appears to slow your system down and obviously, now also stops Firefox from working. Whose fault is it, Microsoft, Firefox or iTunes? Good luck having them work it out :-). Removing iTunes resolved my own problem. I can live without iTunes but not without Firefox :-)
Note: When the problem occurs, firefox.exe is running in the task manager but you can't kill it. Another problem for the research team. My own research found that MS Vista turns out to be one of the few OS's in the world that doesn't always provide for killing a process. (Lucky me for buying a laptop that has no XP drivers and doesn't warrant the expense of upgrading to 7). Reason for the kill problem? From what I understand, a kill instruction requested of Vista has it asking an application for permission before doing so. Problem is, hung applications rarely reply "sure go ahead".
    ///// UPDATE:////////
After 12 hours and 4 iterations of putting the laptop to sleep and waking it up, the problem has now recurred. So uninstalling iTunes is not the solution (although it seemed to help at first). Sorry if this confused anyone. My plan now it to regress to an older version of Firefox and see if that fixes the problem. However, I probably need a fresh install anyway after 3 years of overcrowding.

  • New I pad won't load certain web pages unless I clear cache and history every time

New I pad 64gb with Telstra pre paid.
    Full signal 3G
    Everything up to date.
This is the scinario I am getting, and it's getting worse. I am actually writing this on my other I pad as the new one won't load this page!!!! Not happy!
Lets say I'm on e bay searching stuff and suddenly it won't load any more pages from the search results. I can open a new tab and load other sites so the internet is working, but at this instant i cannot look at any eBay pages on the new I pad.
I go into settings and clear browsing history and the cookies, go back into safari and I can now load eBay and view the page that wouldnt load before. Sometimes this method will work for an hour, sometimes only 2-3 mins.
This fault is happening more and more frequently, I was on yahoo earlier reading news. Then the page wouldn't load. Couldn't load previous page either exactly the same as with eBay.
So I go on apple.com.au and sign in to support to ask them. Page won't load . GRRRR!
Clear the cache etc and it's fine for a few mins then the same so I am writing this off our old I pad 1, using the Internet tethered from the new iPad that wouldn't load this page
It's happening more and more I don't know if it's a problem with Telstra or with the I pad? Is this a common problem?
I have tried Mercury browser and Terra browser and the fault remains.
Seems to be on any website it can happen now.
And now when it does, I can't check e mail, load maps, carry out speed tests anything Internet related.
I can tether the I pad and it works fine on my old one.
    Maybe faulty I pad?

I'm thinking it may be a DNS issue. I cleared my DNS cache using OnyX and my problem went away. OnyX is a free utility and is very useful. You can get it here:

Ever since I did that, I haven't had any other issues. Good luck!

    Hi curtismoxam,
Please try these troubleshooting steps: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]

  • Safari (Mavericks) will open only Google-related pages

I have a 13" Retina MacBook Pro running Mavericks... as of this morning, Safari suddenly will open ONLY Google-related pages (e.g., gmail and google maps).  All other websites I try result in the gray page that says, "Safari can't find the server."
The other odd thing that happened this morning (preceding use of Safari) was that when I turned on my MBP, the wireless connection would not connect to my home network.  That was temporary--it eventually connected to the network, but then even though it was connected to the network, it could not access the internet connection.  All of that then resolved itself (I reset modem and router) and those connections resumed functionality.  But then I could not access any web pages, as per my comment above, EXCEPT for Google-related pages.
Steps I have already taken in attempt to resolve:
    booted in safe mode
    cleared Safari cache
    Removed all website data
under Proxies on Preferences -> Advanced tab, selected Auto Proxy Discovery
unchecked and re-checked the Fraudulent sites warning check box on Preferences -> Security tab
Does it have something to do with the Google Safe Browsing Service?  Seems so odd that ONLY Google pages will load...
    Thanks for any help!

In Recovery Mode, Safari opened every page I tested--i.e., including non-Google pages.
Just rebooted as usual, and Safari is doing the same thing as before--opening only Google-related pages.
Hold the phone... Hallelujah!  I just noticed that my Calendar app had not updated with an event I had entered into Calendar via a different device--it should have updated the Calendar on my MBP, since I use iCloud to keep Calendars in sync.  I tried Refreshing Calendar several times--no change.
So then I went to Settings -> iCloud to sign out of my iCloud account and sign back in.  It wouldn't let me sign out -- got the spinning ball and eventually had to force quit everything, then restart the computer.  Went back to the iCloud settings, was able to sign out, and then it told me I had no Internet connection to sign back in.  This wasn't really true, since I was able to connect to my gmail via Safari... I followed the prompts, anyway, to diagnose and reset the network and internet connection.  Signed back in to iCloud, and voila, Safari started working!  [I'm guessing the issue had less to do with iCloud, and more to do with network settings...?]
Thanks for all of your help.  Hope this might help someone else!

  • Firefox 26 does not load the home page. Instead, it loads the previous session (and that includes all the tabs). It does not matter how Firefox is closed.

Firefox 26 does not load the home page. Instead, it loads the previous session, irrespective of what has been entered in "Options". The browser is running in Win 7.0 64-bit; Norton Internet Suite 21 provides the security functions. There are certain "cloud" solutions also running such as Google Drive, Box, Skydrive and Cubby. The browser behaves similarly in all my machines (the setup and OS is similar to the one described above) and no amount of resetting of "Options" seems to affect it . Nor is it affected by the manner Firefox is closed. It is obviously a bug that needs to be fixed.

  • Safari won't load some web pages.

Ever since installing Mavericks, Safari won't load some web pages (including these Apple support pages). I'm able to load the pages using Chrome or Firefox. Does anyone know of any settings in Safari 7 or the Mavericks system preferences that would be causing this?
    -Greg

I had the same problem... I ran disk repair and repaired all permissions on the HD then reopened safari now it's working fine.

  • Firefox 4 won't load pages, can't connect to websites on mac

After installing Firefox 4, I've had nothing but problems. Sometimes websites load, then next time they can't connect. I've tried a number of solutions, nothing is working. Hotmail can't connect, weather.com won't load correctly. All updates are done, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times. I'm using an imac all up to date.
If I switch to Safari now, the same pages won't load there either. None of this happened until I updated Firefox. However, there were a couple of websites like ehow.com and woot that always gave me issues, but now if I click on a link it typically won't take me to the new page. It has also crashed twice tonight. I have no anti-virus anymore after deleting iantivirus last week.

I have a similar problem. After browsing for a while Firefox will stop loading pages for me on my Macbook Pro. This happens several times a day. In order to fix it I have to restart FF. This is brand new since upgrading to FF4. I've never had this problem before.
My work involves a lot of Internet use and this is becoming a nuisance quite fast.

  • Firefox won't load any web pages but my other browser will

i updated to firefox beta. It ran for one day. Since then it loads a blank white page and won't go to any web sites. I don't get an error message or anything. It just sits there.

This was the problem with mine. I had to remove mozilla firefox from my trusted programs in my antivirus firewall settings and then open firefox... it added it back in. The problem occured when my AVG updated.

I just updated to 3.6.11 and now firefox won't load any webpage it
just times out I tried diableing add-ons no difference. I't on internet exploers now. Tried rebooting.

Do you use McAfee Antivirus/Firewall/Security products? McAfee released a security update that is blocking Firefox 3.6.11. This should be cleared up with the next McAfee update.

  • Safari won't load Google, Blogger, and certain You Tube Videos

    This has been happening since the Safari update. Some (probably 60%) of youtube videos will not load, the page opens but the video never plays. I also cannot get to blogger.com the page won't load and I eventually get this message (it takes up to 5-10 minutes to get this message);
"Safari could not open the page “https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&continue=https%3A%2 F%2Fwww.blogger.com%2Fstart&passive=true&go=true&alinsu=1&aplinsu=1&alwf=true&sk ipvpage=true&rm=false&showra=1&fpui=2&naui=8” because the server is not responding."
I also cannot get to google.com or gmail. I try in Firefox and it's hit or miss. Sometimes the pages load and sometimes they don't. I'm wondering if this is a Safari issue or what. I have no idea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
    Thank you in advance!!!

I found the answer in another post from Hawaiian_Starman and it WORKED! So if anyone else is having this problem, this is what I did:
Safari's internet connection benefits from adding DNS server codes to your Network settings. To do so, go to the Apple Menu>System Preferences. Open the Network panel. Select your connection, then select "advanced". Select the DNS panel. Enter the following codes: 208.67.222.220 and 208.67.220.222. Select "OK", then "apply".
    Restart Safari.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 - Won't load certain web pages - Happens in all browers - Won't do windows updates

This server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1) is used to host thin clients as well as RDP sessions.  One morning the office is fine, they come back from lunch and all of the sudden they can't load certain web pages, such as adobe.com
and pandora.com to name a couple.  This was roughly 3 days ago.
1.)  I have tried machines that are not connected to this server (not thin client or RDP), but are on the same network, they can load up any web page fine with no issues.
2.) On the server I have tried Opera, Chrome, IE and Firefox, all have the same exact problem.
3.) Tried different DNS servers just to be sure, even though it only effects the server and no one else.
Based on these facts I know that it is something wrong with the server, but not tied to a specific brower.  In all browsers when you load up a page in question it just sits there with a blank screen trying to load, it never generates any errors.
The Event Viewer is also clean, no errors.  So with no errors I have had trouble trying to find a starting place for this.  Things I have tried:
1.) ipconfig /flushdns to try and clear out any DNS issues
2.) Changing the DNS servers for the server to 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2
3.) Scanning for Viruses and Malware/Spyware
4.) Checking proxy settings on the server
5.) Updating and then removing Adobe Flash (thought it was tied to flash at first).  Problem persists even with no flash player installed.
6.) Completed a failed update of .net, no effect
7.) Loading up browsers in debug mode to try and find anything in the site code that I could relate between failed sites.  I found nothing I could identify
Of all issues to finally be stumped on this seems like an easy one, but I can't even begin to come up with an idea at this point.
I have tried to lay out all of the facts that I know as plainly as I can.  I am hoping that someone has seen this before as this issue is effecting a number of differnt users and keeping them from doing portions of their job.
Help is most appreciated, thank you!

I was able to figure out a solution.
    CAUSE:
It appears that the Internet isn’t fully up to date and ready to use EDns -- which is enabled on Windows Server 2008 R2 by default. The solution for this is to disable Edns. Note that this isn’t
a problem for most Windows Server 2008 R2 member servers.  It’s only a problem for DNS *servers* that do recursive lookups.  i.e. likely only your domain controller will be affected if that is where your DNS Server role exists.
    SOLUTION:
To disable EDns, you can do it from the command prompt, or by editing the registry.
Create a DWORD called EnableEDNSProbes and set to 0 in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\DNS\Parameters
Restart the DNS Server service for it to take effect.

    Hi,
Extension Mechanisms for DNS (EDNS0 as defined in RFC 2671) allow DNS requestors to advertise the size of their UDP packets and facilitate the transfer of packets larger than
512 octets, the original DNS restriction for UDP packet size (RFC 1035).
But this would cause drop packets because of some DNS servers or hosts don’t support this. This always causes some website inaccessible.
Using Extension Mechanisms for DNS (EDNS0)
