Is Firefox creating a file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder?
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
* Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and all open tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • How to save firefox 4.02b app tabs after closing browser

    when I save any tabs as app tabs, and then close Firefox, when I restart they are gone. And yes I do select save and quit

    The app tabs feature is still being worked on and is far from being complete. The release version of Firefox 4 will be able to save app tabs.

  • Firefox "Pin as App Tab" bug/glitch issue

    I've been trying the "Pin [website] as App Tab" feature, but sometimes after reopening Firefox, all the tabs disappear.
    Although I generally lose the tabs after a browser crash, it also happens at other unusual times as well. Tabs generally don't disappear the first time the browser is reopened, but frequently disappear with subsequent closures.
    Any ideas this occurs/or how this can be fixed would be much appreciated.

    App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]

  • FireFox remembering last website state, even after restarting, clearing history, cookies,cache etc. No other does this (IE,Chrome,Opera...)

    On the website, after 3-4 login attempts and an error message appears. You cannot retry unless you exit out of the browser(s) completely.
    I closed all FireFox browsers, opened a new browser and cleared Recent History will all checked. Closed the browser and restarted the browser again. Going to the website, the error message page is displayed and not the login page.
    With IE (also Chrome and Opera), after closing all the browser window(s) and restart browser and then go the website, I get to the login page, not the error message page.
    It sounds like FireFox is keeping something around (even after clearing everything out) and the website is remembering you in some way.

  • Firefox occasionally crashes, after restarting it app tabs disappear. 8.0.1

    From time to time, Firefox crashes.
    When I open Firefox again, my app tabs disappear.
    The problem is that I had more than 50 app tabs, and I really need them back, as I don't recall some sites' titles or addresses and I can't find them in history.
    How can I restore or at least make sure that it doesnt' happen again?
    If it is not restoreable, is it legal to change Firefox core files?

    My problem is not necessarily when Firefox crashes, but when I have two windows open, one with my tabs and one plain one. If I close the one with my tabs first, and then the plain one, when i restart Firefox reloads only the plain window, and I cannot get my tabs back. This has happened to me numerous times and is highly annoying. I don't have 50 tabs like Mirac7, but it still frustrates me. Can't these be linked to my profile, instead of just the particular window I have open at the time?

  • How do I keep app tabs from opening as a regular tab when I restart Firefox? (In addition to staying as apptabs)

    I set up four apptabs, then set the rest of the tabs I want to appear when I start the browser, set the Tools, Options, Use Current pages, and closed the browser. When I restart, the apptabs appear as I would expect, but they ALSO appear as regular tabs. If this is the way it's supposed to work, what is the point?

    You have your wording mixed around two different options
    one is for
    :When Firefox Starts: Show ...
    :and the other is for setting home page -- Use current pages
    I expect that first one was "Show my Home Page"
    The app-tabs then are in addition to your home page, you just repeated your home pages into normal tabs.
    The app-tabs are preserved from one session to the next.
    For me currently here in questions I have 8-9 tabs set up as app-tabs, I know what the are and in what order, my home page is not one them. I can clear all of the tabs to right of my app-tabs with Multiple Tab Handler and continue.
    Home page is just a page I can bring up quickly with a button, I can bring up any page quickly with a keyboard shortcut or through the AwesomeBar features available in the Location Bar, and History and Bookmarks sidebar and Library list.
    more information on app-tabs:

    * https://support.mozilla.com/questions/840583
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/what-are-app-tabs
    I am sticking with my choice to bookmark those I want as app-tabs and to refresh everything by closing all tabs then using the bookmark folder to restore tabs to be used as app-tab and pin them all at once using Multiple Tab Handler, so there is only one page in each.
    In normal use I will restart at the first level in a tab, similar but not quite the same as really clearing out the cobwebs.

  • Love app tabs but they disappear when I quit and restart FF4 beta.

    Hello, I've set up my app tabs twice, but they are gone after I have quit Firefox. On restarting, the only tab is my home page. Thanks, and hope you can help.

    Just loaded Firefox 4.0 Final release and had this problem. I normally tell Firefox to forget browser history. When I disable this feature Firefox remembers my App Tabs. I really wish I didn't have to ch9ose between these options! I like to keep my browser history, cache, etc clean for added security and privacy. I'm opting for security over convenience so I guess I'm not going to use App Tabs for now.

  • App tabs and panoroma wiped out at restart

    Help, where is Firefox/Tools > Options, so that I can try the same thing that you suggested above? There is no such thing as tools under my Firefox menu, nor is there an options under my tools menu. I'm using Firefox 6.0.2. I have this same problem that tab groups and app tabs disappear after restarting my Mac. I do not have the 'clear history' setting turned on, so I don't think that is the problem. Big time sink so far.

    ''App tabs and panorama wiped out at restart:''
    Your question appears to be a continuation of something else, but this is your only post that I see here.
    As you say you found app-tabs are part of your browsing history, so you don't want to wipe that out.
    * http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    It is important to close Firefox properly through File > Exit or "Firefox" button > Exit, since you are on a Mac it may be slightly different. In Windows do not use the "X" in the upper right corner which closes the Window but not necessarily Firefox.
    See item #31 in the following, basically if you don't see what you wanted from the previous session, use your History menu to retrieve previous session and then possibly previously closed windows.
    You can make '''Firefox 6.0.2''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. ''Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.''
    * http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface
    There is a lot more beyond those first 10 steps listed, if you want to make Firefox more functional.
    '''App-tabs''' can be closed and they can become contaminated with unwanted History within the tab. I would suggest you maintain a folder of bookmarks that you can repopulate your tabs at any time by opening the bookmarks in the folder into tabs. You can use the Multiple tab handler" extension [https://support.mozilla.com/questions/846422
    The '''Multiple Tab Handler''' extension provides lots of features for handling multiple tabs: pinning a selection of tabs (app-tabs), pasting titles & urls in various formats. Closing selected tabs, or all tabs to the right/left. Closing tabs to the right is especially useful if using app-tabs.
    Multiple Tab handler ( 74.8KB download) see my usage notes
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/multiple-tab-handler/
    *http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/multiple_tab_handler.txt
    If you want to test out the functionality of anything involving Tabs use this test page. (the strange name is derived from my keyword shortcut to the page is "_")

  • Sometimes when i start up Firefox, all my app tabs are missing and i can not get them back unless i physically go do them all again. all my settings are correct as per the trouble shooting pages, but it keeps happening randomly every 1-2 weeks.

    When firefox starts, normally, not after a crash or restore, all the tabs i have pinned as app tabs disappear. I have to go do them all again, and this has happened at least 5-6 times now.

    App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the file sessionstore.js [2] in the Firefox profile folder [3].
    Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

    * [2] http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
    * [3] http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox
    It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting, that is usually a more reliable way to restore session data.
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox/Tools > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then make sure that Session is unchecked in the settings for the Firefox application.

  • After I close Firefox and reopen, my app tabs are not found. Is this correct?

    Firefox doesn't save my app tabs. Is this normal or is there a setting that I am missing.

    The loss of my app tabs still happens even though I have my settings set up under Options > Privacy to "Firefox will... Remember history." I have not selected the option for Firefox to clear my history. I have not selected private browsing mode.
    The problem is this: when I close my app tab(s), or when I use my app tab(s) to browse to another page, my app tab actually does disappear or change, and it does not come back when I subsequently close and reopen Firefox.
    This is not the behavior I was expecting for a "permanent" app tab that is "pinned" somewhere. I was told on the features page: "Take sites you always keep open—like Web mail—off your tab bar and give them a permanent home in your browser." To me, permanent means permanent until I actually delete it, like a bookmark on my toolbar. If something is pinned, it should stay pinned down.
    I guess I have to use the bookmark toolbar to get the behavior I want. These app tabs are just temporary skinny tabs.

  • My pinned App Tabs do not reappear after I close and then reopen Firefox 4. Why is this happening? What can I do about it?

    Using Firefox 4:
    I right-click on a tab to "pin as app tab."
    The new app tab appears as expected.
    But after I close and then reopen Firefox 4, my app tab(s) no longer appear. They go away. Repeated cycles of the above do not keep the app tabs present .
    Advise on this would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    I have been having this problem on occasion for a while. (Most recently in firefox 7) I just discovered that I had a phantom firefox.exe process running for some reason. This has the same effect as closing your tabbed window before a non tabbed window. I killed the process and my app tabs magically work again.

  • My pinned apps tabs keep disappearing. They will stay for a week or so, then all of a sudden they're gone. I checked the forums and everything that was suggested there, I did or un-did. But there's no point in having the tabs if they don't stay.

    My pinned apps tabs keep disappearing. They will be there for a week or so, then they just aren't there the next time I open the browser. My settings seem to be OK, i.e. no clearing of history, etc.
    It's frustrating because then I have to go through the whole process of pinning everything as app tabs again.

    Try the suggestion in this thread: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/840901 instead of the garbage above. You would think mozdevs who actually know a solution to this problem would post the solution in all the relevant threads.
    If it doesnt work too, I'm ready to get rid of FF as my primary browser.
    Why bother providing a feature thats buggy ?? I once wasted my time pinning 20 apps over and over again till I realized it was poorly written and unsupported.

  • How to keep the APP-tabs ?

    The App-tabs are realy good for me, but how to keep them ?
    After change the design of FF, all the app-tabs gone
    Restarted FF and after checking for updates - all app-tabs gone..
    Any idea waht I may did wrong ??

    The App-tab data is stored in the file sessionstore.js in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] as part of the session data.<br />
