Firefox 5.0 won't print web page - no dialog box

After updating to FF 5.0, I can no longer print using File>Print (or Control+P). No dialog box comes up, no error message - just nothing. My printer is an HP Deskjet D4260 and it prints fine from Internet Explorer or from files saved to my computer.
I tried a couple "fixes", including disabling HP Smart Web Printing and resetting the print.print_printer file from about:config. Neither option worked. Please help!
Thanks!

Is Fixed! Someone suggested clearing the Firefox cache 9 (Preferences / Advanced / Network / Clear Now) and and after doing this now we can stream on the YouTube site as normal.

If I send an email my d110a prints, but won't print web pages.

    Hey dmorrisp,
Can you pull up your apps? You can try following these steps to resolve your issue.
    1. Find your printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page.
    2. Type you IP address into the address bar of your web browser.
    3. Click on the network tab at the top of the page.
    4. Look at the left hand side and click IPv4 under wireless.
    5. Change the IP settings to Manual.
    6. Enter the printer's IP address, your subnet mask, and your routers IP address or default gateway in the spaces.
    7. Set the Preferred DNS to 8.8.8.8.
    8. Set the Alternate DNS to 8.8.4.4.
    9. Click apply.(You may need to refresh the page if it says processing for longer than a min and click apply again.)
    10. Now try to enable Web Services.

  • EPrint won't print web pages from Windows 8 Microsoft Surface tablet

ePrint won't print web pages from Windows 8 (x64) Microsoft Surface tablet Any ideas?

    Hello JereTanner,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print web pages from a Surface tablet. What model of printer are you trying to print to? Also, Is there an error, message, etc, when you try to print? Typically, ePrint is used when printing eMails or forwarding documents / pictures to the printers eMail address, is this how you are trying to print the web page? Since this is a Windows 8 Operating System, you may be able to install full feature software and print that way. When I know more about how you are trying to print, what happens when you try and what printer you are using, I will be able to better help. Cheers,

  • My Photosmart 5512 can copy, scan, print documents, but it won't print web pages

Yesterday, having had problems scanning on my HP Photosmart 5512 All-in-One printer after an HP update, I went to the HP support site and downloaded the most recent driver for my printer.  Once it had finished downloading, it automatically went into the installation process.  Almost everything ended up working fine except I'm unable to print a web page.  I can print from Word and Excel, I can make copies, and I can scan.
I installed and then ran the print and scan doctor, but to no avail.  When I looked at the print queue there was nothing there, even though I had made four attempts to print a webpage.
Does anyone there have any ideas?  Your assistance would be most appreciated.

Thank you for your help!  I tried reseting the printing system and removed the printer (as indicated in the instructions); however, when trying to add the printer back on it says, "Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."  The printer says that it's connected and the ePrint setting is on... Any suggestions of what to do from here?

    Hello dhronek,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue when attempting to print from Internet Explorer.
So I can better assist you, please respond with which Operating System you are running:
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
You can try to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  IF the Doctor finds an issue, it will troubleshoot it for you.  If the Doctor comes back with no issues, this could be an issue with the version of Internet Explorer you are using and this is why it works with Chrome.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Why can't I print web pages in Firefox 5.0 or 6.0?

I have tried to upgrade to 5.0 and, most recently, to 6.0. But I end up having to downgrade to 3.6 because I am not able to print from either 5.0 or 6.0. When I click on 'print preview' or 'print,' nothing at all happens. No print preview screen nor print dialogue box. I really wish this problem could be fixed. I won't be able to keep using firefox if I can't print web pages. If there is a fix for this, please let me know. Thanks.

Try the '''''reset''''' described here: <br />

  • I am using Firefox 11 and I am unable to print web pages. I can print PDFs ok. I tried to open the prefs.js file to delete anything that starts with print and I get an error message.

I cannot print web pages. I've tried the solutions suggested like deleting anything that starts with print in the prefs.js file but I get an error message: Script: c:\users\rick\appdata\roading\mozilla\firefox\profiles\iviwh5c1.default\prefs.js
    line: 1
    Char: 1
    Error: invalid character
    code: 800A03F6
    Source: Microsoft JScript compilation error

When editing '''prefs.js''' you need to use a simple text editor program. WinXP Notepad messes up the line formatting of prefs.js, so I use Wordpad - but you need to save the edited file in a Text-Only format (Wordpad asks about that when you go to save the edited file). I never used Win7, so I don't know if that version of Notepad messes with the line formatting of prefs.js or not.
Another thing - make sure '''''"Hide extensions for known file types"''''' is de-delected in Windows file / folder options > view -> advanced settings. Otherwise Windows may add a .txt file extension that you won't be able to see, and that will break that file in Firefox. '''prefs.js.txt''' won't be recognized by Firefox, when is expecting to find '''''prefs.js''''' .

  • Reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 won't let me print web pages to PDFs

I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery.  I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update.  I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs.  I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely.  So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6.  Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background.  I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner.  I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer.  From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual.   The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers.  This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.
I have Windows XP Pro SP3.  I did the most recent Windows Tuesday security update several days before messing around with Acrobat and did not have any problems printing PDF files from Firefox or IE7.  So, it seems like it's clearly an Adobe Acrobat problem.  I get the small box saying "Preparing to Print" which goes nowhere and then I have to use the Task Manager to get out of the loop.  That closes Firefox, and when I reopen Firefox, the same webpage comes up.

  • How do i get Firefox to print web pages in black and white only (colors are interpreted in grayscale and some are too light to be read)?

i have a black and white laser printer. Firefox prints web pages by sending color images to my printer. The printer uses greyscale to interpret the colors. i really want Firefox to send black and white images to my printer, because with greyscale some of the colors are translated to print that is too light to be seen clearly.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks,

  • All of a sudden I have problems printing web pages wwith Firefox 3.6.8 (XP), but printing pdf pages is still fine (printing with other software as well)

Suddenly I can't print web pages with Firefox 3.6.8 anymore, but pdf pages pose no problem - the same applies to printing with any other software

    Thanks edmeister for your trouble!
I guess I should have written that I had tried the tips on 'reset printer' and 'does not print to paper at all' before I posted the question - to no avail.
The printer starts as normal: it's the right printer selected, the dialogue window shows the progress of sending the data to the printer - and after that: that's it. It simply vanishes from the queue, and nothing happens.

  • FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages.

FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages. The print preview works OK, but when you try to print that "unexpected error" jumps up.
Please email me on what to do to get FireFox to work.
I don't see anything in the FAQ that might help me.

    Hi,
Please also try this setting: Windows start menu or Control Panel > '''Devices and Printers''', right-click the printer > '''Printer properties''' > '''Advanced''', and select '''Start printing after the last page is spooled'''. In this case you can also close Firefox after spooling is over (usually much faster than direct printing), and printing will continue.
Also as a general case, if you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].
