Firefox 5 can't open pages in Honda Build Your Own Site

We upgraded to FF5 last night. All seemed well till ...
I was interested in configuring and pricing a Honda CR-V this morning on the Honda web site. I have used it in the past with no problems.
I went to: http://automobiles.honda.com/tools/build-price/models.aspx
This is where you can select which vehicle to price or configure. I clicked on the CR-V and nothing happened. Normally, a page pops up where you select the model (like LX, SE, etc.). I tried other vehicles on the page, nah dah.
I cleared disk cache in advanced.
I restarted FF5. Same problem.
I turned off No-Script (my only add-on). Same problem.
I restarted FF5. Same problem.
I filled out the sad face, Mozilla feedback paragraph and tried to send it to mozilla. Same problem.
I restarted our iMac.
I started FF5. Same problem.
I quit FF5.
I started FF4.01 (Noscript disabled). NO PROBLEM with Honda site.
I filled out the Sad face, Mozilla feedback paragraph and sent it to mozilla. NO PROBLEM.
iMac OS X, 10.5.8

The post I was responding to said,
"Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps. "
Somehow, I think that means Windows...
I've tried Firefox in Safe Mode - it makes no difference.

  • Safari and firefox can't open pages

My 15" Macbook Pro will not open certain pages using either Safari or Firefox. For
example, they won't let me log in to this discussion, and I can't check out when trying to make a purchase at Amazon. I have trashed prefs, thrown out cookies, reset Safari 4.0.4, repaired hard drive and permissions , done everything I know how to do short of erase and reinstall 10.6.2. I don't have the problem using this Macbook. Can somebody explain this and suggest a solution. I will buy a backup hd if a reinstall is the only way out. Rudd.

System Preferences>Network. Put the following into the DNS Servers box and hit Apply:

  • Firefox Can't Open Page Tab in 4Shared Website though Internet Explorer Can

I'm using Windows 7 on a Gateway FX6840 computer, and using Firefox3.6.12 I'm trying to download some files from a friend using a website called 4shared.com which I've used before on my previous computer. There are several hundred files on this site, so there are two pages to download from. I can't click on the page 2 tab to get to page 2, but using Internet Explorer I can. There must be some setting on Firefox that I can click on which will enable me to click on the page 2 tab since I can do it on IE as well as my old computer running Firefox 3.6.10. Unfortunately I can't give you the exact site I'm using since it is my friend's password protected account. What settings do you think I need?

    Hello guys.
I also had this problem, I couldn't open 4shared links with firefox while it was ok with other browsers.
The problem is with the cookies, it's very simple to solve:
    Try to open www.4shared.com (you probably will fail);
    On the toolbar click on:
    TOOLS\
    PAGE INFO\
    SECURITY\
    VIEW COOKIES\
Than you will highlight all 4shared links and click on REMOVE COOKIES.
    You're done!!! close it
Now try to open the 4shared link you wish.

  • Firefox can not open dwt.asp files. Just returns the coded page.

Firefox can not open:http://www.oslopubguide.com/Templates/FlyFisher.dwt.asp and similar files. I just get the coded text. Int. Explorer show the page. This is a new problem. Happened on Wednesday or Thursday. I have tried this on two computers

Looks like the server is mis-configured. That file is being sent as '''text/plain''' and that is how Firefox is rendering it. Opera 10.63 and Safari 5.0.1 do the same as Firefox, it only displays properly on IE8 for me.

  • "A copy of firefox is already open. Only one copy of firefox can be open at a time." What do I do?

I was installing Firefox 4.0.1 and something went wrong. Now every time I try to open Firefox, an error message that says "A copy of firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." I've looked it up and every forum says something about a terminal.. and lock files.. Could somebody PLEASE break it down and explain it as if you were talking to a 2 year old? I am computer illiterate.

Maybe Firefox messages have been modified slightly. Please read the article
*[[Firefox is already running but is not responding]] <-- clickable link -- <br> (the illustrated articles will explain a lot better than I could)
The article explains how to find and stop the extra Firefox process that is causing problems. (You usually use Windows Task Manager to do this - if it is a Windows computer) There is a selection option on the help page with a + by it towards the top right, click that to change the help page details to match the operating system and version of Firefox you use.
If the problem keeps occurring it will be because Firefox has some files mixed up, for instance multiple copies of the files it uses to try to get Firefox to display the details of the last browsing session when you restart Firefox. You now need to follow the link from the above article to this one:

  • I try to open Firefox. Get error message saying Firefox is already running and needs to close - another error message say Firefox can't open

Turned on laptop (rebooted) after being away from it for a few hours. Went to open my home page. Error message popped up saying Firefox is already running and must be closed. I closed it and another error message popped up saying Firefox can't open - incomplete or missing files.
I went into Processes to close Firefox. Selected 'end process' but nothing happened.
Tried to use Internet Explorer but it just gets hung up. Cannot access anything.
    And, because I can't open Firefox, I can't go a refresh.
Everything was working just fine a few hours ago.
    Any thoughts?

What is the computer system and Firefox on the bad computer?
    Separate Issue;
    Your System Details on this computer shows;
Multiple versions of your Adobe programs.
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
Go to '''adobe.com''' and download the full installers after removing
    all of the old programs.
Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift><br> ''(Mac Options)'' ''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up in Windows.

  • A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time. I cannot find the open one. was having some problems. deleted and trying to re-install. I get this message each time

Some web pages did not load correctly. (on Imac). Deleted Firefox and moved Profile to another drive to backup.
Downloaded new Firefox. When I try to install, I keep getting this message-"A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."
I went in and searched for all occurrences of Firefox or Mozilla and deleted.
    It will still not load.

I cannot get Firefox to run now. I backed up my Profile to another drive. Cannot create a new one as Firefox will not run. It says there is another copy running. However, I have deleted all Firefox and Mozilla files and downloaded new. When I try to run it, I get the message to close Firefox as two cannot run at once.
I did create a new Mac account logon and can run Firefox there, so something in the other account is showing Firefox is running.
I also checked in ACTIVITY MONITOR and in SETUP and there is no Firefox or Mozilla running.
So, where can this bug be hiding????

    Hi Dan
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Usually "can't find the server" means the DNS codes supplied by your Internet Provider are somewhat lacking (Firefox has its own Network mechanism, so the two are not comparable). The alternative is to add DNS codes from other sources. Here's how to do it in Leopard:
To add the codes, go to System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply".
In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete.
    Restart Safari.

After updating to 4.0 stable today, FF reports it is in offline mode and can't open pages! I've checked the work offline boolean in about:config, it is set to false as it should be. !?!?

What in particular didn't you like about Firefox 6?
You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.
Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    *Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • A Copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time

I have shut down my mac for half a dozen times in response to the warning -- A Copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time -- that comes up each time I attempt to launch the browser. I have tried out the solutions suggested for previous users (on the Mozilla Forum) who were experiencing similar issues, but I can't even see Firefox on my Mac's Activity Monitor. What's going on?
I started experiencing this problem out of the blue on a networked computer two days ago (on Tuesday December 6). I have been using computers on this network for more than a year and it's only now that I have started experiencing this problem. Furthermore, I have been a Firefox user for more than four years and never encountered this issue. It's frustrating considering I have come to rely on Firefox as my browser of choice.
Other than this background I don't know what else to tell you by way of details.

    Hi Swarnava,
Thanks for your prompt response. Intriguingly, when I logged on to my Mac (it's on a university network) this morning and launched Firefox it opened without a problem. If the issue resurfaces, I will try out the solutions you posted. Judging from the experiences of users who successfully trouble-shot their issues, apparently, Madakkadam's solution would be most helpful.
    All the best.

  • Firefox can't open normally without going through the "this is embarrassing" routine; nor does it close down properly; it also sticks frequently, i.e. screen freezes for a minute or more; should I uninstall and re-install to try and debug?

Firefox can't open normally without going through the "this is embarrassing" routine; nor does it close down properly; I get the "end program" message and have to say "end now"it also sticks frequently, i.e. screen freezes for a minute or more; should I uninstall and re-install to try and debug?
    - I've used Firefox exclusively for around 2 years.
    - My outlook express has no problems
    - other programs seem unaffected; it seems peculiar to Firefox.
    - my main use is surfing the net, primarily entering competitions on line via specialist competition sites.
    - every day at some stage(s) I have to switch computer off as Firefox has got very slow/sticky/freezes.
I'm not techy by any means, but I can only thing of un- and re-installing to hopefully start with a clean slate.

Sounds like something is keeping Firefox from closing properly. See this: <br />

  • I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox several times. Every time I try to open Firefox I get an error message saying "Close Firefox"," A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

I uninstall Firefox, then reinstall Firefox, try to open Firefox, and get an error message in a popup box saying,
    "Close Firefox"
"A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time."

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing".

I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing". Original file is written on iMac (2014) and saved to an USB stick and then transferred till macBook Pro (2009, Yosemite) for editing. Then I shared the files by iCloud but I am not able to open them on iMac again. Niether can I use the USB stick to transfer the edited files back. I'm running Pages '09 4,1 (923) on the macBook and Pges 5.5.2 (2120) on the iMac.
    Håkan

Pages 5.5.2 is extremely incompatible with even other Macs let alone the vast majority of PC and MsWord users out there, so not a good idea to leap into the fire with both eyes shut.
After having done that to the first Pages 5 files, Apple has repeatedly done it to even the most minor point updates. Apple can't even anticipate its own erratic changes let alone what everyone else needs doing.

  • I can't open Pages app on iMac

Hi all, I can't open Pages app on my computer. These are the specs:
iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB, 2/3 of a TB free storage capacity,
    Yosemite version 10.10.2
Originally I had iWork 09 and since I've been updating from the app store since they are available in there. Now version 5.5.2
I wanted to create a new document and explore the templates available for it but when I click the icon of the Pages app or the name in the Finder apps list, it won't open, instead it opens another window for me to choose what I want to open -see pic below-, and as you can see from the light gray color I can't choose the app from there.
I open the app store to see if I needed to update it and it is already done. So I don't know what to do... Can anybody help please? Thanks

If one clicks that extreme left icon, the Favorites panel disappears, leaving the Application view we see posted. Additionally, the OP has the
Finder Preferences ▸ Advanced ▸ All My Files checked, instead of their login directory (house icon).
This just adds to the mayhem. Once Finder Preferences is fixed, then the OP can click Applications, and from that lengthy menu, select their login directory, or Documents.
Why the OP did not just click New Document and review the bundled templates, is a question mark. Or click Launchpad in the Dock, to launch Pages.
