Firefox 5: distortion when scrolling on all web pages; wavey appearance
There is distortion when scrolling on all webpages using Firefox 5. It doesn't matter how fast or slow the scrolling is, the screen becomes wavey until the scrolling stops. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and that hasn't helped. This does not happen using Safari or in any documents or spreadsheets opened outside the Firefox browser.
'''''Its better to take a Screenshot of your Toolbars before performing the following suggestion.'''''
Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the SHIFT key while Starting Firefox -> Safe Mode window will appear -> place Checkmark on 2nd option "Reset Toolbars and Controls" -> Click "Make Changes and Restart".
Check and tell if its working.

When two finger scrolling in Safari, it resets itself to the top of the web page - not where I stopped.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support. -
I checked my options settings for applications, and all of the known apps that play various formats of video files appear to be set to 'Always ask'. This does not resolve this problem, however. What I want to do is to set Firefox to NEVER automatically play ANY video that is part of a web page that I visit.
How can I do this?If I am seeing it correctly, the message in the video box
is reporting that the player has crashed. Reloading the
page should fix it. If your player still does not work
after reloading the page, you can go to the web page
for the player and download the player again. -
Firefox opens ok, but crashes when I open a web page
I upgraded Shockwave and Flash today, and since then, Firefox will crash when I open a web page. Firefox itself opens fine, but opening Gmail or Facebook causes it to crash with a windows error saying it has crashed.
Im using...
Firefox 4.0.1 on Windows 7
Flash player V10 plugin
Shockwave V11.6This is very consistent, happens within minutes? In that case, I suggest this test:
To see whether one of your extensions is the culprit, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Any difference? -
Sometimes when on firefox when I try to scroll down a web page it will immediately jump right back to the top of the web page as soon release the mouse button. When it starts happening it will do this on all open tabs on all web sites.
Just closing Firefox and reopening it does not help, only way I have found to fix this is to reset my computer.Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false.
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. -
I downloaded from Canon website an update to my Canon 750 IXUS digital camera. It downloaded various software products onto my computer which are outlined in the computer's database of software applications. From that time, this flickering effect occurs when scrolling through all pages using Firefox and to a lesser extent on Safari. It is like the effect of someone blinking rapidly and constantly and looking at the screen. When not scrolling there is no such effect. It is very disruptive when trying to read a page.

FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages.
FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages. The print preview works OK, but when you try to print that "unexpected error" jumps up.
Please email me on what to do to get FireFox to work.
I don't see anything in the FAQ that might help me.Hi,
Please also try this setting: Windows start menu or Control Panel > '''Devices and Printers''', right-click the printer > '''Printer properties''' > '''Advanced''', and select '''Start printing after the last page is spooled'''. In this case you can also close Firefox after spooling is over (usually much faster than direct printing), and printing will continue.
Also as a general case, if you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firewalls this].

The odd thing is that it is an on and off issue, meaning that sometimes the scrollbar distorts when scrolling, and sometimes it doesn't, and it started doing this about 2 days after updating. It didn't start immediately, which I find kind of odd. Is this just a graphical glitch? I'm pretty sure it is. I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.3.
'''Try the Firefox Safe Mode''' to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or use the Help menu item and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode"''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again.''
'''''If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.

Question
HAVING A PROBLEM WHEN I PRINT A WEB PAGE WHICH IS MORE THAT ONE PAGE LONG. ONLY THE FIRST PAGE PRINTS TO SCALE...THE REMAINING PAGES PRINT OFF THE PAGE????HELP-IT IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH FIREFOX BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH SAFARI??Thank you for the response. I tried to fix the problem with some of the suggestions on that page, but none seem to work. I believe that is the only website that I'm having that problem on. I got to fooling with it a bit more and when I highlight the whole page and select to print the selected area, it actually prints the whole page then, but it won't do it as a default. I guess I can just do it like that from now on, but I thought there would be something in the settings that I could have changed. Thanks again for the help.

I'm using the Motorola Atrix smart phone with the Laptop Dock. When I open a web page with Firefox I have to hit "Ctl +" three times to make the page fill the screen. Is there any way to set up the Firefox browser to open the web pages the right size in the first place?
The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension: <br />

Or the NoSquint extension: <br />

When I select print from any website article while in Firefox it only prints a blank page. When I open same web pages using Safari, they print fine. Documents in other appliations print fine. Only Firefox documents print blank page.
Quit Safari.
Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:
☞ If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.
☞ If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.
Delete the following items from the Library folder:
Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
Relaunch Safari and test. -

Scrolling down in web pages causes color saturation
I'm not sure if this should go under Safari or the Mighty Mouse (plugged/not Bluetooth). This just started a couple of days ago. When I use the scroll wheel to scroll down in web pages, the colors and fonts all get continually more saturated. I can't do a screen shot because once I click off the page, the page goes back to normal. I checked the settings for the fonts and it had smooth scrolling set for 8 size or smaller. I set it to 4 and it still is doing the same thing so I'm guessing it's not that.
I have no idea what could be causing this. Any ideas?I have the same problem with Safari. As I scroll down fonts gradually lose anti-aliasing and in addition all inline images blotch to unsightly colours. Scrolling inline pdfs produces horizontal lines in the viewer pane.
It occurs with trackpad two finger scrolling as well as with the MM's scroll ball.
Rebooting and resetting Safari doesn't help. -
Cannot send email when clicking lonk on web page
I cannot send email when clicking link on web page.
When I would click the link to send via email I was being directed to hotmail to open new account.
Today the tech tried to assist me and completely messed up my email capabilities by setting up
windows live account.
I am thoroughly disgusted with FIOS internet services..Every time I've called them in the past month problem has been with someone else whose portal services they are using.
I cannot send emails because all my contact information cannot be moved.
I'm paying for FIOS internet service that is almost non existent.
THe VZ in home agent doesn't work nor does the FIOS information site.
My next move is to get rid of FIOS.
