You don't. Since you have an Intel Mac, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.

InCopy is a solution, but it's not the only viable solution.
I update many books, from 200 pages to 3,200 pages every year, long document, very techincal tax books.
Some are done through InCopy, some are edited word files and rtfs exported from InDesign, some are marked up hard copies etc.
It totally depends on the clients technical ability with computers. Last year I taught over 30 authors of ours how to use InCopy. Some were receptive, some were dubious, some were totally clueless.
And on the dubious and totally clueless I spent more time troubleshooting their problems than I would normally with a Word/RTF option.
Some people are capable of switching to InCopy or even know how to use it in the first place. For anyone never used InDesign or InCopy before then it's a massive learning curve to jump from MS Word et al word processors, to InCopy.
I do agree, it is the best solution that's out there, technically. But that solution is not usable by a lot of people.
Yeh if the client is comfortable with InCopy then it's the way forward.
But in most cases, in my experience, it's faster and more efficient to Export the text as RTF and let the author update the RTF. That leaves you in control of reinserting the text and formatting it correctly. Rather than letting the client add bold, underline, italics, superscript, subscripts, crazy workarounds because they didn't know how to do it properly. And in the end you end up with 2 or 3 times the amount of work than is necessary, just cleaning up what the client has done in InCopy that does not suit the overall formatting of the publications.

So what you have is higher than 10.7.0 and Adobe Elements 12 should be happy.
If some part of AE 12 is not working, that should be sorted out with Adobe.

I understand what you've done now. You used the "Set Layer Visibility" command which sets the on/off state of all the layers at once. What you need is a more subtle approach, one that will only change the state of the specific layer associated with the button, not the rest of them (so that you could have multiple layers enabled at the same time). The way to do that is by using a script.
I wrote the script for you and applied it to the top-left counties (WILLIAMS and FULTON), in the attached file. You can now copy the actions I associated with those buttons to the rest of them, and it should work as you want it to.

I see. I'm not aware of how to fix this in Firefox. Usually you want to tweak your Winow Manager preferences for opening new windows.
Example: sawfish preferences for Linux.
Since Mac OS X doesn't have any preferences, you have to use Applescript or another technique. This is an iPad user to user forum, so you are not addressing Apple. Depending on how many user helpers are on-line, it may take several hours, or longer, to get a response.
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

I have a mac os 10.4.11 and the new version of firefox (4) which is 'not compatable with my operating system' what can I do? I have tried to redownload firefox 3 to no avail.

(There were more photos than the 7k, but they were saved on other drives, thank goodness). 7K pohotos on the Touch are no where else, must be saved! Just never went from a Touch to iMac. I'd ask in the iTouch forum where there are more iTouch users there than here and they should know how to off load the photos. It might take a 3rd party app.
