Firefox 5 stuck in windows 7

Hi,
Firefox stops responding while in https://support.oracle.com.
In task manager it appears to be running but no button in the firefox window responds. Right clicking and choosing "close window" does nothing, only killing it in task manager helps.

Vitaly

you need to install Apple drivers, aka Boot Camp, which will install a number of things including
msconfig: startup items
Apple OSSwitcher
Apple TimeServices
Apple services

getting option key to work is hard, easier iwth usb keyboard/mouse and more about timing and in not holding down forever
200MB is the GPT and required. You aren't running Lion so there isn't Lion Recovery, and not sure why you have 620MB in there. There should be 128MB EFI, and Windows 7 can and should have 100MB system partition.

  • Firefox gets stuck after closing any window.

I have this problem that firefox always gets stuck for at least like 20 seconds each time when I close another firefox window. I usually have several firefox windows open at the same time. When I close one of them, the rest of them get stuck for seconds before they can do anything, sometimes crashed (not common). I notice that firefox crashing usually has to do with some firefox windows were running online video, like youtube or others. It can be any advertisement on any website that is in the form of moving pictures. But crashing is really not common. Just getting stuck every single time when I close one firefox window among others.
I thought it was because my computer is old but Internet Explorer doesn't have this problem on my computer. I even downgraded firefox to version 28 ( I used to have the latest, 36?) That did not solve the problem. I am running on windows 7. I would like to keep using firefox because it allows add-on so I don't want to switch to IE. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

I forgot to mention. This only happens to firefox. If I am running other programs and firefox at the same time, only firefox gets stuck.

I installed Firefox 6.0.2 on a Windows Server 2003 box. This box is a terminal server with 9 users that are going to use Firefox. The other users are going to use IE. When asked to reboot now or later, I chose Later. After sometime I rebooted, the message "you need to reboot in order to complete the install" reappears. Over and over again. Can not uninstall (same message) Can not open Firefox (same message) Many reboots using various users, the same results.
    Help!

The question appears to relate more to the OS than be a firefox problem, but as I have never used Windows Server 2003, I am unable to help.

  • Firefox gets Stuck while Playing Facebook Games and Working in Another Tab

Firefox gets stuck while playing facebook games (restaurant city) and side by side working in another tab or window of firefox. Switching between tabs takes time and on facebook scrolling doesn't remain smooth it gets stuck again and again while scrolling the page.
Also, in earlier versions it was a great feature that when once a game is loaded then when i open it second time it was loaded immediately without any complete loading but now every time you play the same game it will load completely which happens generally when we reinstall firefox so that our saved cookies gets destroyed.
ON THE OTHER HAND OPERA 10.6 LOADS FACEBOOK GAMES SMOOTHLY NO HANGS NO STUCKS NO FREEZES EVEN DOING OTHER WORK AND THE GAME ALSO LOADS IMMEDIATELY THE NEXT TIME WHEN IT IS OPENED.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== The 3.6 versions came up

same things happen to me also the cache system is so slow it even download the flash player game after 3 or 4 days completely and hang is always the error when ever i use the fire fox also there is one more thing some time computer is not opening any site what ever u type mozilla is disconnected from IP what ever he issue is but if u close the firefox and start again it is working for a while after some time it may happen again time is not counted over this matter so i m sure this is the trouble from fire fox coz other browsers are working in the same time while mozila sucks

  • Firefox gets stuck in a loop with untrusted connections.

When I try to go to certain sites, like to check my bank account or credit card accounts, Firefox says the connection is untrusted. I tried adding the certificates, but Firefox gets stuck in a never-ending loop of adding the certificates and telling me the sites are untrusted. Other sites only require adding the certificates once, then they work fine. What can I do to be able to log into my accounts on Firefox? I have a Mac with Snow Leopard.

You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.
You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set that action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'.

  • I am trying to import Firefox bookmarks from a Windows machine into Firefox on an Apple. I do not want to use Safari. How do I do this?

am trying to import Firefox bookmarks from a Windows machine into Firefox on an Apple. I do not want to use Safari. How do I do this?
I have, on my HP laptop, running XP Pro, using Firefox 4.0, went under bookmarks to show all bookmarks. A window opens up that says library. I then go to import and back up, and I choose export HTML. I then move this file over to my new Mac Pro. On my Mac Pro I also have Firefox 4.0. I go up under bookmarks, show all bookmarks, import HTML. It lets me browse and I find the file on the desktop, I select it then nothing happens. I am not interested in using Safari. I would like to continue using Firefox. However, as an experiment, I followed the same process except on my Apple computer I opened up Safari and tried to import in the Firefox bookmarks. It came up with an error saying the file could not be accessed. I then thought perhaps the file got corrupted, so I went back to my Windows Firefox and re-exported the bookmarks again. Same problem. So, am I creating the bookmarks incorrectly on my Windows machine?
    Thanks,
    Kent

Probably your Mac cannot understand the Windows html format, please try the following to see if it helps:
In your PC, export the bookmarks in html as you did in your post. After you have saved it, change the name of the file to “bookmarks.html” and save it again.
In your Mac, import the saved file as you posted.

  • How do I stop firefox from blocking next window unless I click on OK

Some how a while back I turned on the feature to have firefox block the next window or page to open. • How do I pin a firefox site to the Windows 8 start screen?

I just got a new AIO with windows 8; not may favorite thing but I'm learning.
I use Firefox as my browser exclusively but Window 8 help, of course, won't explain how to pin sites through other browsers. I had to set up my desktop on my start screen so I can open Firefox from there and then I can start browsing with Firefox - but there has to be an easier way....I've tried to search through the Firefox support but I'm an accountant, not a techie and this is getting very frustrating. lol I hope someone can explain to me how to do this. And in very small words please - remember I'm bean-counter. :)
    Thanks y'all.

jscher2000 - thanks for a really fast response!
Your links got me to get to clicking on other related links and I did find a site that was very easy to follow so I'm adding it here for you to give to others; has illustrations and''''' very''''' easy to follow instructions. Perfect to someone like me. I wouldn't have found it without you getting me started though.

  • Why does Firefox not open my windows and tabs from last time until I have tried starting 3 or 4 times?

I have this problem with opening Firefox:
My Startup options are set to "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time"
However, each time I start Firefox, by clicking the icon in the Taskbar, it opens with a single blank tab.
I repeat this using "Open New Window" and when I have up to 3 windows, all with single blank tabs open, I close them all. Once more I use "Open New Window" which only then opens with my windows and tabs from last time.
Naturally, this induces initial panic each time, because I dread the thought of losing all my current tabs.
    What is going on here?
    How can I fix it?
    < Firefox 27.0.1 with Windows 7 Home Premium.>

This started happening to me with the upgrade to v30. Previously, new windows did the proper thing of showing previous tabs/windows.
I have history on, not in private mode, and have cleared cache.

  • Stuck on Windows Vista with Lenovo G550?

Hi, I am experiencing a problem which is making me get really mad at Lenovo Customer Service and Microsoft at the same time. I am using a G550 with 1.8GHz Celeron CPU and 2GB DDR RAM with 250GB HDD and G4500 Graphics
    Here my Problem:
I was quite happy when buying my laptop, and couldnt wait to install Windows 7 on it. As I did so, I figured out very soon that there are major issues with Windows 7 on my laptop, and I was not able to run any of my software. Games wouldnt run, the programs would crash and I felt fooled in a way. That was why I then thought of XP, which was a very simple OS, but at least would run all of my software on this Notebook that I had just bought. So I installed XP and I could not find all the drivers I needed, I was not able to run my WIreless LAN-Network and in total XP is a 9 year old piece of software, which has many security issues, and wont be suiting a new Laptop in this price category. I mean I spent some 500 dollars on this notebook, and then I end up running XP on it? No thanks!
So I moved to Vista, which was my last hope, and which would at least run my applications, not crash and updatable. And at least I could really use the ease of this notebook on Vista. But one thing that really makes me crazily mad is, that I happen to have the worst performance with Windows Vista. I run SP2, the start procress needs like 40seconds without logon. Another additional 20 seconds for loading all the autostart programs (which are just CA Anti Virus and the usual system stuff). Do I have to be stuck on Windows Vista forever? I am experiencing so many problems with this operating system, but somehow its just more convenient than old dusty XP and new crashy windows7. Is it really this bad, that after spending hundreds of dollars on a new laptop I have to stick ot vista, in order to stay up to date and use my old programs which windows 7 just wont run?
I think its bit of an Ironie that Microsoft does not solve their incompatibility issues with lenovo laptops, and that Lenovo does not care about the problems their customers experience.
I was very well surprised when I bought this notebook until I realized the problems like:
Disk turning on and off al the time
    Incompatibility with Win7
Driver problems on old OS like XP
I think lenovo really ows us a statement, and Microsoft should really tell us what we are going to purchase before we buy it. Money doesnt grow on trees and I am not willing to spend a lot of money on OS and Notebooks that later wont run correctly.
    Whats your opinion on this?

  • Firefox 5 on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop locks up. Have not be able to get on the internet for days.

I have used Firefox for 3 years on all my computers. However, Firefox 5 on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop locks up. I want to uninstall it and use an earlier version. Also, the "key' in the address bar to 'remember the password' for this site will NOT behave! No matter what I do, it continues to crop up. I dislike Firefox 5 because it is causing me delays, using up my time with constant problems. What previous version do you recommend I use?

  • EWallet crashing when using Firefox on 64 bit Windows 8.1

    Hi there,
Since I upgraded my laptop recently to a 64-bit HP Envy running Windows 8.1, I’ve been having trouble with eWallet (a digital wallet for passwords) using Firefox V35.0.1.
In case you don’t know eWallet, it is possible to store passwords, user-id’s and sign-on web page URLs in a card format. When you click on the URL, it populates the fields in the sign-on page.
I am having the same problem on a 64-bit Dell Inspiron laptop my wife uses
eWallet works seamlessly on 32-bit Win XP.
eWallet works on both the 64-bit machines using Internet Explorer and Chrome, but not Firefox.
After many emails back and forth, several complete removals (using Revo Uninstaller) and re-installs of both eWallet and Firefox, this is the conclusion of eWallet Support….
It looks to me like the Firefox installation still isn't quite right on your PC. If you look at the text file you sent me, you'll see on line 43[of the registry dump I sent them] that firefox is referenced under the "Program Files" folder -- but in other places in the file, it's referenced under "Program Files (x86)". My guess is that eWallet is trying to launch firefox using the path Windows is giving it (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe), and firefox is not actually there.
Please note that this area of the registry is Microsoft's, not ours -- we don't change anything in it, we merely use this area for its intended purpose: getting the path to the appropriate browser. I can't explain why Firefox isn't installing properly, but it's outside the scope of eWallet to be able to resolve that particular problem.
My understanding of what they are saying is that Firefox is not installing correctly for some reason.
I have also tried starting Firefox without any extensions or plug-ins, again no success.
    Plugins and Extensions installed:
    Extensions
    Block site 1.1.8
    Classic Theme Restorer 1.2.9.3
Download YouTube Videos as MP4 1.7.31

    Google Update 1.3.26.9
    Intel Identity Protection Technology 4.0.5.0
    iTunes Application Detector 1.0.1.1
    Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4730.1010
    Picasa 3.0.0.0
    Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.305
    Shockwave for Director 12.1.6.156
    Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.30514.0
    VLC Web Plugin 2.1.3.0
Could you please provide me with some guidance that may help me in resolving this problem?
    Thanks and regards,
    Steve

    Hi @curtisa, @guigs2 and @rmcguigan,
    Thanks for your responses.
I managed to get eWallet working correctly for 24 hours approx. by uninstalling Firefox, running CCleaner, deleting all Mozilla references on my system drive, scanned for virus using Win Defender, SuperAntiSpyware, and SpyHunter, (nothing reported) then again downloading and installing the current version of FF to "Program Files (x86)".
However next morning, it had failed again.
I checked the Windows event log and it shows an error with a Source of .NET Runtime. The application is eWallet.exe, Framework Version V4.0.30319, Exception Info SystemAccessViolationException.
I'm not sure what that all means, and would welcome any further suggestions.
    Cheers
    Steve

  • I installed this new Firefox 4 on my Windows 7 64-bit OS and now it doesn't even open.

This web browser has turned out to be the worst thing I've ever had to deal with on my computer. I upgraded my Firefox 3.6.2 which was amazing and my go-to web browser. Now after many re-installs I still can't get this new thing to open. I'm going to lose it soon. Good thing I saved my bookmarks before. When I click the .exe file, it shows in my task manager that it is running but no windows appear. I've restarted my machine and tried everything possible to get it to work. NOTHING.

    Thanks for the info airmanjack.
My firefox wasn't opening (windows 7 64bit), but was running in task manager, and was also using 50+% of my processor.
    I'll try your trick tonight.
Firefox does open on my work computer, but I have problems with it crashing multiple times per day. Is there anywhere I can download the last version of Firefox 3?
