Firefox 6 (& 7.0.1) download window is not showing on multiple monitors set up

I have a dual monitor setup - Macbook Pro screen as secondary and an external monitor as primary screen.
I have been running Firefox 3.6.x without any problem.
Only just updated to Firefox 6 and the problem appear - download window does not show up.

Just downloaded and want to see whether FF 7.0.1 would be any diferent, but nop. The problem still exist even the hardware accelaration is switched off as some users had suggested. Frustrating really...

Firefox Downloads (in classic or new download window) does not show progress or downloads

I noticed that when I download anyhitng that the download window (classic and new) windows do not show progress anymore, do not show files downloaded, nor give me anything to right-click and go to that folder, in which it was saved. I had it fixed for 1 day, until it started to lose the files the next day.
I only see the arrow turning green, with no result within the downloadswindow.
I had done the following:
1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter.
o The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
2. In the Search field, type browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone.
3. Double-click on the browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone setting to change its value to false.
You can set the Boolean pref browser.download.useToolkitUI to true on the about:config page to restore the classic Download Manager window.
Yet this problem still continues.

Download window does not show speed

What happened to the download speed that used to show up in Snow Leopard? Sometimes the speed shows up for a second or two, but mostly it is not there.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can try to reset the preferences to see if that helps.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

I want to upgrade to latest version but -Help/About Firefox- window does not show "upgrade" as in the instructions. I cannot find an "upgrade" function anywhere else. How do I upgrade? The version I have is -18.0.1- it came with this used computer.
I believe this computer was hacked. Word started doing very strange things. We wiped the hard drive and reloaded everything as it was originally when I bought it. I am now getting hacked online.
They originally got into one of my credit cards last fall. That is when this all started. They got my AOL email address. They also got the credit card current balance, minimum payment, due date and then even the payment amount. They got into my Barnes & Noble account and now checkout does not work. Now I believe they have gotten into my AOL account - one thing after another has started going wrong. I cannot change that AOL user id/email address since it is the master and I would lose about 15 years of "stuff".
The folks that sold me this computer told me to use a free version of an antivirus. I am very unhappy with it. I never had ANY trouble when I used TrendMicro's expense products. Those folks also told me to use Firefox, since AOL uses Internet Explorer - which I already knew is like Swiss cheese.
Now, I cannot seem to get an upgrade of Firefox. Is this also a hack?

It's probably just the Firefox updater having some problems. go to www.getfirefox.com and download Firefox 20.0.1

Download window is not working since update to 6.0?

I updated firefox and now the downloads window no longer functions. It appears on downloading a file. The file downloads but the window no longer shows the progress or the file.

Didn't make a difference. Still no activity in the downloads window. The window pops up the download is saved in the target file but nothing shows up in the window. No progress, no file name or location and no options to open it or navigate to the folder.

that little "&" sends the conky process to the background freeing up the current process (your autostart.sh script) to finish doing what it's doing so you can move on to running openbox itself. with this in mind, it should be obvious why keeping conky in the foreground would cause problems.
also, replacing it with (sleep 1 && conky) & means... wait a second, when that's done successfully (&&) run conky, and put all of that () to the background. that way openbox comes up immediatly and only a second later you've got your panel and monitor.
all this after .xinitrc and before openbox

I have the BIG DOG 16 gig iPhone and I am only limitted to 9 pages of APPS.
For what I PAID for this GREAT Phone, there should be NO LIMIT as to how many APPS. that I can download until and UNLESS my memory is FULL, which it is NOT even half full yet.
APPLE: Please change this LIMITATION, because there seems to be thousands of APPS. to choose from. Just as you have NO-LIMIT on the number of songs that I can download, I would like it to be the SAME for my APPS.

Content purchased from iTunes store are downloaded but do not show up in library (iTunes 11) even after manual add

Hi all,
I upgraded to iTunes 11 recently and have now purchased some additional content from the iTunes store. The files have been downloaded but do not show up in my library. A search yields some results but I cannot access the songs in my library nor can I add them to 'up next' although the option is available from the search results menu.
First thing I tried was to add them again manually but the problem persists. Any clues?

OK, I found a solution. Here it goes, just in case anybody else comes across this issue:
I deleted all the relevant entries from the iTunes Libary.xml AND iTunes Music Library.xml files (with iTunes closed, of course) and removed the files on the harddrive library structure to another location. I then restarted iTunes and added the album manually to my library again. In my case, I got iTunes to handle my library and the files were thus copied back to my old structure by the iTunes. To finish I reimported the album artwork and that was that.
Hope that I won't encounter this issue with future purchases under iTunes11, this workaround IS a bit of a hassle!

I just recently got a first generation Ipod touch. When I hook it up to my itunes on my desktop, it shows up and I can transfer music extra on it.
But when I go to the Itunes Apps Store on the desktop and choose to buy an application, it buys it and says its downloading it. But after downloading it does not show up in the apps section of my itunes (desktop). And when I check the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications" it is blank with the directory inside it - C:\Documents and Settings\anish\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications\Downloads\applicationname.tmp
iTunes did not create the ipa files in the Mobile Applications directory at all. So I can't sync an application to the touch, as iTunes sees no application as there is no .ipa file of the application.
But if I go to apps store via the touch and buy it - it then downloads and installs it, and then I can sync it via touch to desktop easily.
But why can't I buy applications on the desktop iTunes and have it sync with my touch.
I have even deleted all the sync histories, backups and even completely restored my touch - (its running 2.1). Still the same issues.
I do not how to solve this.
If anyone can help me - that would be great.

I just tested a fresh new install of itunes (latest 8.0.1.11) on another computer, authorized it and I did not connect touch to it. I just went to app store and bought a free app. And the same issue happened - it downloads the apps and stores the files in its temp folder, but does not process and create the ipa application file. And it does not show up in the my application section of itunes either.
Could there be a problem with the latest version of itunes. I am absolutely running out of ideas...
Can anybody confirm this bug or issue?

PS - One application did process completely was the nytimes.com application. Out of everything else - only this one did work.

OK in order to read those files you will need MS Office for Mac or install MS Windows on your Mac. You can get MS Office for Mac from anyone that sells Apple products. I would suggest the Apple Store, Best Buy, Amazon etc...For help getting the data from the memory stick I'd recommend visiting your local Apple Store or AASP and they can help you move it. It should be as simple as plugging the USB drive into your USB port and then open a Finder Window where you will see the drive on the left pane. If you don't know what Finder is or how to open a new Finder window you need the sites I've noted below!!!

Updated and now tool windows are not showing up.

I just updated my Muse and the pop open tool windows are not showing up. For example when I click on some text and then click on the list of typfaces the typeface window shutters and won't show up. This window keeps blinking from gray to black. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program. Also the tool window on the left side also cuts off the all of the tools. Also on my planning mode the A-master isn't showing up and I can't scroll to get to the A-master.

The A-master not showing up at the bottom of the screen sounds like you must be running on a Windows machine with your screen resolution set to 125%. Try setting your resolution back to 100% (or if need be increase to 150%) and see if that helps.
We don't support UI scaling in this release, but at the 125% setting Windows tries to scale us anyway and the result is not usable. We're working on a fix to avoid being scaled in this case.
If it still behaves badly at 100%, would it be possible to post a screenshot?

File Browser, properties, library window will not show up

I'm using an old version of Motion 3 and my File Browser, properties, library window will not show up even when I click on the icons and/or press command+2,3, or 4 . Seems to be some kind of settings glitch as Motion works fine when logged in under another user. Any thoughts.

Plist files contain instructions for recording and executing tasks associated with the the application or function that owns them. They can and do become corrupted. If you look in the username/Library/Preferences Folder you can usually guess what application or function the .plist serves by analyzing the file name. In this case it was the com.apple.iCal.plist file.
Proper identification of the appropriate .plist file is not always so obvious. When an application malfunctions, removing the associated .plist file from the preferences folder to the Desktop is often the easiest first troubleshooting step. Then log out/in or restart and re-evaluate the performance of the application.
A new default .plist file is automatically created in your Preferences Folder after you remove the recalcitrant .plist and initiate the log out/in restart sequence. You can expect default application behavior and you will have to reset some preferences. If the application or function returns to normal after removing the .plist file, it will prove that the original file was corrupt, and you can now safely trash the .plist file which you placed on the Desktop.
If the application or function is unsatisfactory with the new plist file, the original plist file which was placed on the Desktop can be safely returned to the preferences folder. Just allow the system to replace the newer plist.
If you are having problems with any aspect of OS X, experiment with deleting the appropriate .plist file. Plist corruption is not uncommon and .plist file deletion often cures many problems. Too many users try intricate solutions first and end up complicating their minor problem.
