Firefox 6 can't open add-ons manager to uninstall yahoo toobar which installed by itself.

Yahoo toobar installed itself on my computer and I can't open Add-ons manager to uninstall it. Add-ons manager window just keeps trying to load but won't load.

Open the Firefox Safe Mode and un-install that Yahoo Toolbar extension from there.

This is what I get when I try to uninstall persona add ons. I can't open add ons even in safe boot. This started when I used a Corvette persona.

• I want to disable plugins, which i can do through add-ons manager, but every time i restart firefox they are enabled again

When i disable plugins firefox runs faster. I could uninstall the plugins, but i periodically want to use them. I have tried using click to play but i want some plugins to run automatically.
I want to disable selective plugins and have some enabled. When i do this via add-ons manager, all plugins are enable on restarting firefox.

i don't use any cleanup tools & MSE is my security software, which is rather unobtrusive and shouldn't interfere here...
i currently have one blocklisted plugin (see screenshot), but if i remember it correctly the problem was already present in my case before i had the outdated acrobat plugin installed.
sometimes when you enable/disable a plugin in the addons manager & press f5 afterwards, it immediately switches back to its old state/sometimes it will stay on the new state until a restart of the browser & in some cases it will remember the state even across sessions - it's just not working reliably in any way.
as far as i can observe the pluginreg.dat file in my profile folder the change of a plugin's state isn't written to the file as soon as it's toggled in the UI during a session, but only when the browser is getting closed - so the information has to be in the memory somewhere before and might be getting corrupted. i suspect it might be a general bug but i cannot reproduce it reliably .

• Firefox 36.0.1 on Mac running Yosemite 10.10.2 hangs when trying to open Add-ons Manager

I am running Firefox 36.0.1 on an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.2. Firefox is working fine except that it hangs and forces me to Force Quit the application every time I try to choose Add-ons from the Tools menu. I have never had this problem before. This problem has happened for three straight days with my iMac being restarted several times. The same problem happens when trying to access Add-ons from the Open menu icon. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!

If you put this into the url bar: about:addons
does this also happen? If not, add the icon back and remove it to reset it.

• When I open Add-ons Manager and go to Get Add-ons the screen just sits at the spinning loading icon. Also when I do a search all addons it will give the same icon and if I go to my addons it is blank. How do I fix this?

It seems I am no longer able to access addons from within the browser.

From the Firefox help files;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

• Firefox will not open when I click on it. It won't even let me open the profile manager. Uninstalling it and re-installing it does nothing. And it is driving me insane. I need firefox.

It will not open. No matter what I do.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• Firefox 10 Add-Ons Manager does not open in a tab

In later versions of Firefox 9 and now Firefox 10, the "Add-Ons Manager" refuses to open in a tab. Instead, it opens as a window with no border that will not move and cannot be moved or closed except by closing it from the Start Bar at the bottom of the screen.
This occurs on 2 separate PCs, one running Vista, one running XP.
I know it should open as a Tab, but I see no way to do this.
Do I need to change some setting to get it to open properly?
Thanks,
Ken West

updates 9 and 10 have caused me problems as well with add ons and the extra tab appearing welcoming me to firefox.
With update 10 all my add ons disappeared.. upon going to tools /add ons I found half my add ons were incompatable and the others were closed! I just opened them again and all was fine. Luckily the add ons I use often were still compatable.
The other option is to just add them again if they are compatible.. if not you can get around it by googling and comming up with a solution there somewhere.. One I use a lot is download helper and I had to do this about 3 versions ago to get it running.
There could be a solution in Help/trouble shooting and looking at extensions.. your add ons should be listed there and all be True..
If not you will most probably have to open Containing folder in top block and do something there.. Not sure what but will leave it up to the experts..
Seriously it would most probably be quicker to reinstal you add ons.

• Since installing Firefox 4 Beta 5, the Add-Ons manager is empty. My add-ons still appear to be installed and working, but I can't install more, or uninstall, or configure them.

My add-ons still appear to be installed and working, but I can't install more, or uninstall, or configure them.

Try forcing Firefox to rebuild the list of installed add-ons.
# Open the profile folder, for details of how to access it see the profiles article.
# Close Firefox, then delete extensions.sqlite (you can also delete extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.rdf if they exist)
When you restart Firefox the list of installed add-ons should be rebuilt.
If that did not work, you may have an add-on that is causing the problem, try the options in the troubleshooting extensions and themes article.
If you type about:addons into the location bar does that bring up the list of add-ons? I have seen a blank add-ons list if Mr Tech Toolkit add-on is installed, accessing the add-ons manager by typing about:addons in the location bar is a workaround with that add-on installed. The author of that add-on is working on an update.

• Opening Add on manager causes FF to become unresponsive, how can I delete add ons now?

On the advice of addon Fox installer I added a few extensions. FF became really slow and I tried to uninstall but every time I tried to open Add-0n manager from tools, FF became unresponsive. So now I can't access my extensions to uninstall. Should I uninstall FF completely and if so how do you do this? Clearly just deleting the application and reinstalling doesn't do it. Thanks!

• Why does the Add-ons manager take an excessive time to load and can I view my add-ons without going to the add-ons manager?

When I start my browser up my everything that I have been working on comes up without any problem and I can open a new tab to go to another site without a problem, but when I go to the Add-ons Manager it can take over 3 minutes to load and that's if I don't stop it. My other question is can I view my add-ons, plugins, etc without having to open the Add-ons Manager?

The error means that an add-on called yoono is having problems communicating with a component made by Microsoft. I spoke to somebody with experience in working with the firefox coding, and he said that they're likely to be different issued and to see if yoono or another extension is causing the problems by opening firefox in safe mode. To open firefox in safe mode, click here. If you can get to the addon manager there, I recommend you get rid of yoono

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See #Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

Solved it shortly afterwards thanks as I realised it must have happened when I refreshed Firefox, so went through the process again and found the boxes for tabs already pre-ticked so cancelled them. Would have been a lot easier though had it been left as an option to tick as I assumed it was another safeguard leaving me with no idea what had happened....
Anyway thanks :-)
