  • Javascript makes page load forever in IE

    I'm using this function (
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/pnghowto.htm)
to make a png file use alpha transparency proerly in IE. It
    works great,
except the page loads forever. The stupid MS logo at the top
    right keeps on
animating and the info bar always says downloading 1 item
    (the file in
question is the one PNG file I have on teh page) Anyone know
    why this
    happens or how to fix?
    My page is
    http://dev.dosomething.org/
... the png file in question is the
black logo. (I know its in teh wrong place right now, but
    thats a different
    problem)
    Ideas?

I would duck the whole issue by using a transparent GIF

  • If I don`t reload pages, a blank screen appears with the page loading forever, since I updated to firefox 6.

I already tried cleaning cache, cookies and registry. I disabled add-ons. I deleted data trash. Virus scan with MS security essentials. Called Internet company to check connection. Had to get a new modem and router, but the problem persists. No problems though when using Internet Explorer.
It doesn`t happen always and with every webpage. Sometimes it happens with MS hotmail, sometimes not.
As soon as I reload the page that didn`t load the first time, the page comes usually up at once.

  • Download page loads forever.

Hi, I am trying to download a trial of adobe photoshop and the page just keeps loading like that forever. Can anyone help?

I have several options, though your further investigation will determine the problem:
Changing your router number most time works & it's all you have to do.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • I'm using firefox autocomplete & when the page loads all my forms complete automaticlyhow do you get autocomplete to fill out forms automaticly when the page loads ?? i've tried everything

    hope you can help

You can try to copy the text to the clipboard (Ctrl + A and Ctrl +C) if you need to refresh.
"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Bittorent FAQ page loads on startup -not my homepage

Each time I start Firefox, a bittorent FAQ page loads even after I have removed all bittorrent programs- google is my homepage, not bittorent. How can I make this page go away?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I had used the bittorrent FAQ page one time

Such prefs shouldn't be in user.js as they will cause problems as you've noticed.
Did you copy other prefs from prefs.js to user.js?
You should be cautious with doing that and only place prefs in user.js that are either changed via the user interface in Tools > Options or prefs that can't be set via the user interface, but never prefs that are set automatically like the first run prefs for extensions. Even prefs set by extensions can cause problems if an extension updates.

  • Black screen appears before a page loads, but this does not happen in IE

When a page of a website opens, it displays a black screen and then loads that page in Firefox 3.6.11. But the same does not happen in IE. I don't want that black screen to appear on my page.So please provide me with a solution as soon as possible.
And my page layout also gets distorted when viewed my firefox but not in IE. Please do the needful.

Thanks for your reply. I tried the same way but there is no option "Use hardware acceleration when available". Is there any other way out from my code or other Firefox settings as the page loads instantly on IE but on Firefox initially a black screen comes and then the whole page gets loaded. This page is built using java applet. Thanks in advance.

  • When using installed 3.6.10 version, web pages take a long time to load. No add-ons or plug-ins are used. I have to use version 3.6 if I want to browse with Firefox, Or web pages take FOREVER to load.

OS: Windows 7 pro, updated daily as needed. This is a self built HIGH END computer, with a Quad processor, we'll leave it at that. I have a Cable connection: download speeds 1.5MBs. When I load Firefox 3.6.8 or 3.6.10 version, web pages take several minuets to load if at all. When I reinstall the basic Firefox 3.6 version over the 3.6.10 version, ALL web pages load instantly! I want the increased security of version 3.6.10 Firefox, but it will just NOT RUN on my computer!!

same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
Create a new profile and check it out.

  • Fireox became excruciatingly slow to load web pages immediately after following Stop Censorship link over Firefox logo on start page.

Immediately after I followed the Stop Censorship link on the Firefox opening page and e-mailed congressional representatives, Firefox has become extremely glitchy - web pages take forever to load. I had upgraded to Firefox 8 two days ago. Could this be a virus/worm set by pro-censorship or anti-open source agencies like ?Microsoft or is this a problem with the beta version of Firefox 8? I did not notice the extreme slowing of web page loading after upgrading to Firefox 8, but it happened directly after I followed and acted on the Stop Internet Censorship links. My Norton internet security scans shows "no threats detected". Also I am unable to submit this feedback to Firefox: When I click on the Submit Feedback button, nothing happens. What to do? Should I go back to 3.6 or what to do next? Any other Firefox community members have this problem?

    SOLVED
I cannot quite fathom why this solution works (since browsing seemed slower without Sophos installed) but with Sophos 9 installed and turning off the new functionality in Sophos 9: Web protection / Block malicious downloads... the browsing experience is again very fast with the exception of netspeed.test.

  • Browser pages take forever to load

Every time I open Safari or Firefox, the pages take forever to load.  I keep getting the color wheel and often have to force quit.  I don't think it's the internet signal because I've tried it in 2 different locations (home and work) and the results are the same.  I can't load videos (like those on Hulu).  My computer memory is about half full, so I don't think it's that.  This is a recent problem (within the last week).  Any suggestions?

  • When I open Mozilla Firefox, I open the page, the website doesnot load.

When I try to load Mozilla Firefox, the website does not load. I have tried (in order) uninstalling and reinstalling Mozilla, downgrading to Mozilla 6, tried to confirm plug ins but the Mozilla website took forever to find my plugins. Then I tried to reset disable some of my plug ins. Then I did a factory reset of Mozilla Firefox. I don't know what else to do, please help.

Hmm, usually if Firefox can't load a page it will show an error page. Is there a similar "silent fail" if you use a bookmark or use one of the search boxes?

  • After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it.

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Firefox crashes as soon as the page loads it is completely unusable

i got a update prompt from firefox a few hours ago which i installed and now it wont work as soon as the page loads it crashes it wont even stay on long enough to figure out the problem i swear by firefox i have used its for years and never had any problems with it ever if i recall but lately it has been freezing and crashing often i feel like i am using internet explorer and thats bad but now i cant get it to work at all and am forced to downgrade to a lesser program WHAT IS GOING ON????? as for crash ids and troubleshooting info none of that even comes up

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    * It may not be necessary to create a new profile, so first try if it works with your current profile and if not then create a new profile.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Firefox has been randomly crashing for two days. I always have google and facebook running. Firefox seems to crash at random times - no specific web page loading. My Firefox is up to date.

There can be multiple reasons for crashing. Seeing this article would be helpful as it lists out the solution for this-

  • How can I get Firefox 4 to detect and load the latest version of a web page automatically?

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 from Firefox 3, I've noticed that various pages I visit frequently
    http://smbhax.com
    http://sketchy.smbhax.com
    http://paleface.net/z/monkey
come up showing old versions of the page, so I have to press F5 to see the latest version.
I did not have to do this under Firefox 3--if the page was out of date, it loaded up the new one for me without making me refresh manually.
Looking through the support documentation, I see that in about:config, I could change browser.cache.check_doc_frequency to 1 to force it to check for a new version every time, but the default (3) *should* be detecting when pages are out of date--it is not.
I never changed that setting under Firefox 3, so presumably the default setting worked in that version of the browser. Did the default used to be 1? Or is the behavior for the setting "3" just not working the same way in Firefox 4?

Since switching to proper HTTP cache-control headers on the server, Firefox has not failed to present me with the freshest version of those sites.
Those headers were not necessary in order for Firefox to do the same in previous versions of the browser--all it took previously was a meta-equiv "pragma" "no-cache" line in the page HTML. Firefox 4 doesn't seem to be supporting that old HTTP 1.0 instruction. Anyone browsing updating sites that still rely on pragma no-cache may have to press F5 to see the latest version of the page--unless perhaps they change their browser.cache.check_doc_frequency setting from the default; I did not test that.
