Firefox 7 is terribly slow even after disabling plugins and complete reinstall

Since upgrading to 7.0, and 7.0.1, I have had major problems with Firefox tabs being stuck on "Connecting..." and never loading the web page. Occasionally this is accompanied by a crash. I have disabled all extensions, disabled IPv6, dnsPrefetch, removed and reinstalled the app with a new blank profile and the issue continues. I also disabled Sophos, the security suite I am currently using. I never ran into any of these issues in version 6. I am currently running the roboform plugin but I have disabled this previously in an attempt to resolve the issue.

Go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Network and click Settings under Connection. Try no proxy (or if that's what it currently is, try system default).
I'd also check again for security software. Sometimes "disable" just means it doesn't block incoming traffic but it still restricts outgoing. You may also have other security software (it may get installed with stuff like Skype or come bundled with your computer).

Firefox won't start even after disabling all plugins and reinstalling

Two days ago I updated my graphics card drivers (nvidia geforce) and it had some problems. I went into live chat support and after reinstalling some files it worked. Right after that Firefox wouldn't open, prompting me to restart or close. Hitting restart would take me the same place. It only opened in safe mode, where I deactivated the plugins related to the graphics card, and Firefox started normally.
Yesterday it didn't start again, even with those plugins deactivated. so I started in safe mode and deactivated all other plugins and it started. Today happened the same again but now I didn't have anything to deactivate so I could never start it. I unistalled and downloaded the installation file again and installed. The problem remained.
I went to the page Firefox crashes - Troubleshooting and filled in the crash report to mozilla crash reports page with the ID: 6cf4a525-9152-46f9-96f2-7ef282131023
The problem looks like it has something to do with the file mswsock.dll, but I'm affraid of deleting it.
Please help me.

hello pedro, this crash is caused by the "Media Accelerator" part your nvidia graphics driver. please see if you can selectively disable it in the nvidia control panel or even uninstall it. otherwise please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

Firefox 34 is slow even after reset

I recently got an update for my Firefox and after that it has become very slow!
What I tried to do:
- updated all plugins
- disabled all addons
- ran Firefox in a safe mode
- created a new fresh profile
- updated video driver, turned on/off hardware acceleration
- changed option layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled to "false"
It's still slow! As of now, I have a brand new profile without any addons and about 10 tabs opened. There is a noticeable lags when I switch between tabs, open new ones, scroll, and navigate through Firefox menus.

Some details:
I have a dell e6430 laptop, core i5 CPU, 16 GB RAM, 128 SSD, lots of free RAM, almost nothing running in background and consumes CPU.

Have you checked how much CPU FF takes? That's why latest versions are so slow for me.
I also noticed that FF has been having problems with multiple tabs/windows since 32.03, which is the version I've gone back every time...

Illustrator not responding even after preferences cleared and app reinstalled.

I have a Toshiba Q875 running Windows 8. I subsribe to Creative Cloud. I have a huge proble, with Illustrator CS6.
I have seen posts about this problem on the forums, but I need to post this anyway because I am at wits end. After I start Illustrator, I cannot open a document or create a new document without the program giving me a not repsonding error. I have had two lengthy calls with Adobe Technical Support. In addition to uninstalling and reinstalling the software four times, we have cleared the preferences and created a second user. After the first call, tech had Illustrator running by killing the prefs. A couple of days later, the problem resurfaced. Today the tech walked me through everthing, including a thorough examination of the uninstall before I performed the reinstall. He assured me everything would work. It does not.
I am hoping somebody has insight to this problem. I more so hope that somebody from Adobe sees my post. I cannot believe that I cannot speak to somebody in the US to help remedy this problem. The offshore techs have been nice, but somebody at coporate needs to know about this problem that, as my research has indicated , is not a rare problem on Macs or PCs.

AMD GPU fan runs constantly even after disabling DGPU

I have a HP-Pavilion dv6 6121TX, with AMD 6770m gpu.
The fan of the gpu runs constantly even after disabling it using the following command

the output for "cat /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch" is as follows

It shows that the DGPU is off and yet the fan for the same runs continuously at full speed.

You might also try a different battery if you have access to one. Unfortunately, many of the replacement batteries being shipped by Apple are defective. They don't fit properly into the battery bay. I suspect that if the quality control is this poor, then it seems likely that other problems will arrise as well. Check carefully that the battery itself is not overheating. Another possibility which also happened to me is that after installing the last upgrade to the operating system, one or more of the third party widgets became problematic, causing the same problem you describe. After removing all third party widgets, the problem stopped. Good Luck

I am trying to download the flash player 10 on my windows XP computer. I get the error(s) close "Internet Explorer" and close "Windows messenger" during download. I closed Internet Explorer ok, but still keep getting the Windows messenger error even after stopping it and disabling it. I also have IT on medium and firewall and antivirus disabled.

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

I think that it is something wrong with kernel and graphic drivers but i'm not able to solve it from the beginning of using of Arch by me.
I'm not so sure this issue is software-related only because in my case it seems the laptop screen enters power-saving mode (10-min timeout) on its own without any events logged (as shown by dmesg) so my next thought was OK, I'm going to get rid of this issue disabling the screen power-saving timeout in the BIOS and set it to never power down or something like that and from then on managing power mode manually; ie: when I want to power down I will just use systemctl suspend/hibernate which work fine ... problem is: there are no related options in my BIOS for such timeout.
The only timeouts I have are in /etc/systemd/logind.conf set to 30min (#IdleActionSec) (commented) by default so these are not in effect because the screens goes blank after 10m which is less than the (default) 30m in logind. Maybe setting loggind to 9m (un-commented) to catch the event before the machine-default one ?
