Firefox 7 will not open pdf documents. Makes it completely worthless given the large number of documents that are in pdf. How do I get my pdf files to open up?

I have tried a ton of the older help suggestions. I cannot find a cure for this problem for Firefox 7. If I cannot get it to work, I will have not choice but to use the hated IE.

I would remove the PDF Download add-on that's listed in your details. (It gets terrible reviews.) Then it should be possible to set Adobe Reader as the default application for pdf in Firefox options. And maybe the Adobe PDF Plug-In will be able to work again.

Firefox will not launch. (Cannot make a new profile)

Been using Firefox since the dinos--'til Firefox refused to launch.
Tried all the options on the support.
Made sure that there are no extensions, and restarted my laptop more than the number of stars in this universe.
Tried creating a new profile--but no matter what I did, Profile Manager wouldn't start.

First check to see if an add-on is causing this problem, for details on how to do that see the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.
If that does not help, try creating a new profile. Firefox stores user data in the profile folder, creating a new profile will show if the problem is with the old profile. If the new profile works, you can transfer select data such as bookmarks and passwords to the new profile. DO not copy the preferences file, and it is best to re-install add-ons. I installed Firefox today and as of yet, I haven't been able to use the Enter button in the address or search bar. I can use every other key except that one. Thus, it makes Firefox unusable and useless. Can anyone help me out? I even went as far as disabling every single addon that came with the default installation of Firefox and uninstalling my AVG. After updating to 3.6.7, Firefox will not start on my Mac. Happened also with the last update. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm running updated OX 10.6.4 on an i7.

Last time (a few weeks ago) I had to uninstall firefox and reinstall it. Today I moved the last version to the trash and reinstalled the new version, but it still won't work. I obviously can't do this every time there is a new update. When I click on firefox, the icon bounces in the dock (like it's trying to open), and then nothing happens.

Same issue - however firefox will open but I can not click on only of my tool bar shortcuts - the writing on the google age is greyed out so I can not click on anything. Still no resolution? I have deleted the folders and re-installed - it will open and then locks and it will not work????

Its ask do you want to set Firefox as a default browser and I choose when. Its freezes then and when I try to close it asks me to do I want to send an error report. I have been using for at least a couple of years. Internet Explorer works for me.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

I've been using Real Player as my main audio player and recently switched to iTunes. I cannot get iTunes to recognize and play any of my RealPlayer audio files. When I try to 'add files' it will not let me access anything past the Music folder.

As I know, iTunes supports M4A format the best. And this format is also developed by Apple Inc. If you do want to play your old realplayer mp3 files on iTunes, you'd better use some audio converter to make a simple conversion. If you don't mind, i've used a helpful one, and you can download it to have a try. This converter supports batch converting. iOrgSoftVideo Converter. Actually it's an audio & video converter.

How can I get an RTF file to open properly in MS Word?

I'm using Coldfusion 8 and trying get it to export to Microsoft Word an RTF file that was also created in Word, and is stored on the server. The problem is that when Word opens from the browser, it displays the RTF code for the document as if I'd opened the file in a text editor. The extension is ".rtf", and I've tried using ".doc" and ".docx" but nothing works. And even though Word opens it with an rtf extension, if I do a "Save As", it wants to save the file as an .htm file. I've also tried changing the content-type to "application/msword" but this didn't work. Also if I use OpenOffice instead of MS Word it still doesn't work. My code is below, if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be very appreciated.

What kind of local files are you trying to open and what kind of content is on the pages?
Are that files that you've saved from the internet?

Only Firefox will not allow me to make selection on a dropdown box

When I go to my CC company's web site to down load data, there is a selection box that asks what software I want to download to, i.e. microsoft money or quicken. When I make a selection, it does not change. Worked with 2 editions before this latest one and works with IE and Chrome, but not Firefox.

You can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)
You can also disable the Java plugin in Firefox: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins
