Firefox 8 - How to be able to use address area to do search with Google as the default??
The instructions posted did not work...it took me to YouTube...is there a string I can use in "keyword.url" that will change the address bar search to Google instead of Yahoo?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This is the response/error I see when I try to do a Google search from an email message - "Mail wants to use the restricted Service “Search With Google.”"
Interesting - I just created a new user account I named "Test", and tried "Search With Google" in Notes and it worked fine in this new account. Without any additional change, I went back into my normal user account, and tried to use "Search with Google" on the highlighted word, and it pulled up the Google search fine as well. No reason I can think of that these actions would have resolved the problem - e.g., either the creation of the "Test" account, or switching between this "Test" account and my normal account. Possibly creating new account caused a cleanup of the Safari preferences to point to version 6.0.(essentially reset the default)
Would be curious if droow007 solution works for others. Definitely quicker than the route I went :~) -
I have to change my apple ID because I'm changing my email address. (I have a Comcast address and am switching to U-verse) I'm worried that when I do, I'll no longer be able to use my first generation apple tv unless I change the apple ID there as well. I'm also trying to find out if changing my apple ID is going to interfere with getting my itunes content on my computer and my iphone. Does anyone know how this works??
My iTunes appleID is an old defunct e-mail address - it does not have to be functional.
Do what Winston says to ensure you keep getting correspondence related to that ID.

By just using the same iTunes account. If you set up the iPod on your computer just make sure that iTunes is signed your account. Of settingup via wifi, just enter your existing account. Do not create a new one.

Is there any way possible to Inject the EJB prior to the bean instance creation at all?
Maybe, I need to approach it with the old fashion Java EE 1.4 route and using JNDI in the PostConstruct annotated method to reference the EJB in the managed bean.
This had to been thought out before, I don't understand why a manged bean's life cycle places any injections at the end of the bean creation.
Also, now that I understand that the @PostConstruct annotated method will be called by the container after the bean has been constructed and before any business methods of the bean are executed.
I am trying to reference my EJB as part of the creation of the managed bean.
What happens: the JSF page loads the managed bean and I need to populate a listbox component with data from an EJB.
When I try to make the call to the EJB in the listbox setter method, the EJB reference is null.
Now, I'm not for sure if the @PostConstruct annotation is going to work... hmmmm.
** Figured it out. ** I just needed to move the EJB logic that was still in the setter of the component I wanted to populate into the annotated PostConstruct method. -
How do I create a separate Address Book? I'm not asking about a mailing list but an address book where the addresses are not mixed in with my regular address book. I already have three address books created for me by Thunderbird. I add all new addresses to one of those but am afraid to delete the other address books because some of their addresses are not repeated in my "main" address book. So if I don't delete all the names in one of the existing books, I need to create an empty book that will not mix the addresses with those in another address book. HOW DO I CREATE A NEW, EMPTY ADDRESS BOOK? I want to be able to create various mailing LISTS using the addresses in this new book so I will eventually have a special address book with a variety of mailing lists I can use as I wish.
In 24.4.0 there is no File|New|Address Book. There is File|New|Address Book Contact. How do I create a new address book ?

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime. Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server. -

In this case the instructions were incorrect. I forgot that the uninstaller would run that command. The reason for that command was to let the system know that foomatic-rip 4.0.6 had been removed. I am sure that you were able to then install foomatic-rip version 3.43.2.15. There are two ways to confirm that the older version is now installed. First, if you can print at all, it is present. You could also copy and paste the following command in the Terminal. It should respond with the version that is installed:
pkgutil --pkg-info org.linuxprinting.foomatic-rip | grep version
Do I need to change the PPD at all?
There is no need to change the PPD. PPDs are reflective of the software (drivers) that are called from the PPD. You can put anything you want in the PPD. If that capability is not in the driver, having it in the PPD won't make it work.
Setting a job to print from A1 Roll Paper is a two step process. First you select the Paper Size which is A1.
Then look under the pop up menu below Paper Size for an item called Paper Feed.
Select Paper Feed. Then you will be able to select where/how the paper is being fed to the printer. This is where you can choose Roll Paper (Cut) or Roll Paper (No Cut) among other choices.
Other drivers may have A1 Roll Paper listed under Paper Size. Perhaps that is how the HP driver was. There would still have had to be a place, then to check whether or not you wanted the paper to be cut and/or whether you were feeding sheets of paper from one of the other paths.
Let us know if you can find all the options now and that you are able to keep your normal workflow. -

We have read that any apps that use the google map app (removed by ios6) will not work. We have lost a great camping app for this reason, and have heard that some weather apps are not working either. The company line we've been given is it's up to the app developer to rewrite their apps. ***** doesn't it.

What will Apple do after they do not support iPhoto? Will photo stream be eliminated? I will no longer be able to use aperture, so have signed on with LR & PS.
Just because Apple will no longer support IPhoto or Aperture doesn't mean that the versions that are still out there still won't work, function or still do what it is designed to do.
I do not like all of this offsite, Cloud service storage, anyways. I rather have easy, trouble free access to all of my data locally.
I am still planning on using the current versions of IPhoto and Aperture as I am not moving any time soon to Yosemite or any newer OS versions based on it. I still use a lot of legacy software that I simply can't afford to upgrade any farther.
Plus, I use other photo book sites other than Apple's own service, anyways, because these other services offer more products and are far more flexible than Apple's own print services. -

The ONLY stuff that should give you trouble is anything that requires Roestta to run. iLife apps can be upgraded for free, and iWork 09 should still run. Office 2011 and Adobe Creative Suite CS5 and CS6 run like before on my Mini.

plug your ipad to your computer, open your itunes, click on the ipad icon, at the first page there is an option to "restore" ipad to its factory settings, click it. Don't remove USB connection, wait until it finishes wiping the data and it should place a new window that asks you to register the ipad.
There you go, your iPad is sync with your itunes account under your name, its best to also use "Find my iPad" just in case it gets lost, you can track it from your computer. Very handy tool and its free!
But if you want the data that is in the iPad, back up it first and sync the content to your library before restoring it to its factory settings

For this i goto preference in address book and select "sync with google".
I put my gmail details.
However, the sync does not happen.
Please help.You should have signed in with that address in the first place, but there is a workaround: go to System preferences>Mail, Contacts@ Calendars and add your @me.com address as an account there.

With apps on devices, thoses are specific to the phone itself, so there is no open forum to view what apps are downloaded. The only option would be to physically review from the phone, or if you have the same Apple ID you can log into it and view from there. Please let us know if you need anymore assistance.
