Firefox 9 : html5 video on youtube
Cannot view any short (like less than a minute) html5 videos on youtube. First it doesn't automatically play, then if i hit the play button, it loads forever and doesn't play anything.
I can't remember which video. I haven't watched youtube much but I just did a little testing and it looks fine for now, maybe the lastest update fixed it.
I will post you the vid when I encounter the problem again. Thanks!

I don't know what the problem is. I installed the new update plug-in for Flash and it's still not working. I don't know what do do next.
No, that's not it. I tried both ways: 64-bit flash plugin, with Firefox in 64-bit mode. Latest 32-bit flash plugin with flash in 32-bit mode. No go.
I see the first frame of the video. Video does not update except in chunks, portions of the screen, every few seconds. Sometimes there is no audio.
Curiously, other video sites, such as vimeo, are fine. Also, some embedded youtube videos on other sites are also fine. But the problem is consistently there on youtube.com. -
WHy wont firefox play any videos except youtube?
I cant watch videos anywhere but youtube!

Prevent firefox from using HTML5 player in Youtube.
How do I prevent firefox from using HTML5 player in youtube and use flash player instead? I am not sure what advantage HTML5 has over Flash. I noticed that Flash plays smoother than HTML5 and there is also a difference in quality of the video at low resolution. HTML5 does not seem to have smooth streaming compared to Flash. I may be wrong and I am ready to learn the advantage of HTML5 over Flash. But until then I wish to revert FF to its previous behavior of playing in flash.
If there is no way of bypassing this player (html5), how do I set it to ask before I allow it to play the video? I dislike videos playing automatically as soon as I open the link or any websites (reason why I set Flash player to 'ask to activate').
Thank you for your generous help. :)I found info here

Safari 5.1.2 Youtube HTML5-Video issues
Fullscreen-Button on Youtube doesn't work for HTML5 videos on Youtube in Safari. Also there are problems with the video performance. The process QTKitServer Safari Webcontent has 105% CPU, the whole MacBook is very slow in that moment.
This is only a problem in Safari!
Since three years i use Safari for all my work on the net. But after the upgrade to Lion, this browser has a lot of bugs and getting slower and slower. I think it is time to change the browser. :SYes. I have the same problem as well. Watching a video on Youtube and the process called QTKitServer goes above 100%. I haven't figured out why (html 5 or fullscreen or whatever) but I didn't noticed it before.
Macbook, Snow Leopard, Safari 5.1.2 with only the Adblock extension running. -
Safari 5.1 HTML5 Video performance issues
Since upgrading to Safari 5.1 i am experiencing performance issues while playing HTML5 videos on Youtube. The video takes ever to load, while loading the whole browser becomes unresponsive, in the end forcing me to close the tab and wait for the broswer to recover on its own.
After upgrading to 5.1 though performance has great improved in general and i am loving it, but this problem with HTML5 Video is quite troubling.
I am using Macbook 5,2 (mid-2009) with NVIDIA 9400MGo to Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any intstalled, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try a video.

Hello, I have activated the option to see videos of Youtube using HTML5, with the browser ephipany (and with firefox) some videos can reproduce , instead, others do not reproduce, says in the screen of the video "Missing Plug-In" and afterwards "This video is currently Unavailable". I have installed the plugins of Gstreamer, but the problem persists.
In the screen of activation of HTML5 says: What does my browser support?

- h.264
- WebM

I do not know if this problem is caused by Epiphany, or because it is missing to install some package of Archlinux, would appreciate his answer, thank you in advance.
Sorry for my English

Thank you for answering -
How firefox play video in youtube?
if not installed flash player, how firefox play video in youtube?
Unfortunately not all HTML5 videos work in Firefox, so you may still need the Flash player.
You can find the 32 bit version of the Flash Player installer for a 32 bit Firefox version here (scroll down to Flash Player (32 bit)):

Firefox 15, Flash 11.4, Windows 7 - html5 videos/swf do not play
Help me please! I see that many people have similar issues, but no 2 are exactly alike, but I have tried every suggested solution and nothing seems to work. Everything was fine until about 2 weeks ago and then nothing worked - no youtube, no flash apps, no swf. I only use Firefox, but I tried it on IE and Chrome - nothing. I really just want a solution with Firefox, because it has worked. In my Add-ons Manager, it shows Shockwave Flash 11.4...and Shockwave for Director. HOWEVER, when they are enabled I cannot watch ANY youtube videos. If I disable Shockwave Flash, youtube videos play, except for HTML5 videos. Regardless if Flash is enabled or disabled, when I go to the Adobe flash test page, it is indicating that I do not have flash installed. However the Shockwave Player test page, shows that shockwave is installed and working. I am so frustrated....I have uninstalled and installed so many times, shockwave, adobe, etc. And no matter what I do .swf images/apps do not play at all. This is the worse, since my work's website (which I maintain) uses .swf. I did not create them, but would like to see them and it seems to necessary when I try to update the website, because the website maintenance hangs. Flash never 'crashes'.....

whenever I view a YouTube video on my linux box (Centos 5.8, fully updated) using Firefox12, YouTube always delivers the html5 video to me instead of Flash. This would be fine, but intermittently the video stops moving (while the audio keeps playing). I click the (I don't know what it's called) slider for the current position and the video will start moving again. until it pauses next time, anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
I don't know why it delivers html5 instead of flash, on my laptop using centos 6 and firefox12 I get flash video. Is there someway to configure Firefox to get flash instead? If not, I'd appreciate help in fixing the pausing video component.Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

I am facing the same problem. Rebooting didn't help. Downgrading though works.

I have download helper. While the 3 red, blue, and yellow sphere are turning, It gives me the choice of place to save, and when I click and choose desktop , for example, this message comes ."Conversion requires an external application that appears to be missing on your system. Configure conversion ?
When I click on okay, another page comes, which says" converter and a box next to it . in the box is written FFMpeg. but I can change it to MEncoder. In another box, says configure conversion rules. When I click on it, nothing happen. Thanks for your help.

Every time Firefox opened
== I want to download a video from youtubeNo, this reply is not helpful. It simply generates this little gem:
"This service requires the conversion feature to be enabled.
Configure conversion ?"
And the same clicking on buttons that makes nothing happen and going around in circles with the escape key. -
UPDATE - What does it take to get Firefox 28 to play videos on YouTube?
Searching support for two nights has led me to an answer because the help is outdated. I have been unable to find support for Firefox 28.
YouTube videos will not play using Firefox on my new desktop computer. I downloaded Flash player (version 12 something) using Firefox 28 after YouTube told me I needed it. After doing that, videos would play for a few seconds, then a message would appear telling the video would not play with a "Learn More" link. The help was too vague to help.
I have Windows 7 Home Professional, security software, etc.
I have uninstalled the Flash plugin until I get a better handle of what I need to know to better troubleshoot this. YouTube videos will play when I use IE 11 without downloading a plugin.
Thanks you in advance.Thank you for the replies.
While I still have Firefox 28 installed, I have NOT re-installed Flash plugin. And guess what, videos on YouTube play just fine, for now, in Firefox. They also play well in my other browsers, too.
If I do ever download and install Flash plugin again, I will refer to the the replies I have received here.
If anyone else has any insight on my post, please post a reply.
Thanks again for the replies.

All of my contacts (about 100 or so) have MSN messenger accounts. Is there a way for me to use my built-in iSight as a webcam in Adium or MSN Messenger? It just seems pointless otherwise since I only know 2 or 3 other people with .mac or AIM accounts
