Firefox after version 3.5.19(include Firefox 6) started but no window was showed.

I tried
- http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20will%20not%20start
- Remove profile
- uninstall firefox, delete revelent files and registries
- remove add-on, cache, history
- ...

It's a company laptop with anti-virus and firewall: they both didn't notify about any errors or virus. Also, IE doesn't seem affected.

• Firefox posted a message that it will update and start, but after finishung updating refused to start showing a mesage that " error:Platform version '1.9.2.13' is not compatible with vrersion minVersion =1.9.2.15 maxVerdsion =1.9.2.15"?

Not much to add.
On popup window was a labbel "XUL runner", and then :" error:Platform version '1.9.2.13' is not compatible with vrersion minVersion>=1.9.2.15
maxVersion>=1.9.2.15".
Just few details.
I have Firefox instaled on D: disc because my system crashed and after reinstaling OS on C: disc i haven't insatled it but just just used old one just moved to D: disc.
So my only problem is that I wont to get a hold of unbackuped bookmarks in that Firefox, and then one can instal Firefox4.

I experienced this error updating from Firefox 3.6.13 to 3.6.14 and resolved it by doing a 'clean' install' as described. It occurred again in updating from 3.6.14 to 3.6.15 and this time a clean install failed to rectify it. (Anyway, I don't want to have to go through this every time.)
Work-around: Shut down Firefox. Edit application.ini (typically "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\application.ini")
[Gecko]
MinVersion=1.9.2.15
Change to 1.9.2.13
Save. Start Firefox. Dirty? Yes. Works? Yes.
(Gecko is the forerunner or XULrunner)

• LastPass password manager doesn't work with latest Firefox after downloading add-in, installing it and re-starting Firefox.

I'm using FireFox 20.0. I downloaded the add-in, installed it and re-started FireFox but LastPass doesn't show up in the add-ins nor does it fill in the login info on sites that I have in my LastPass vault.

What I've done is make LastPass my home site so when I launch FireFox, I log into LastPass and leave the LastPass vault page in an open tab. Then when I log into another site which requires a login and password which I've previously set up in LastPass, LastPass logs me into that site automatically. LastPass is a free password manager that works well in IE. Any time LastPass detects a login page, it enables you to set up the password and ID in its database and fills in the login info at future login prompts. My solution for FireFox is a bit clunky but when I need to use a second browser, it works.

• When I try to open Firefox I receive this message, "Application has failed to start because ssl3.dll was not found." HELP!

I've been using Firefox for about 3 years. Today, I ran a scan of my computer Webroot Anti Virus and deleted all "risky stuff" they checked. Don't know if this is a coincidence but right after the scan I could not open Firefox. I receive the message, "Application has failed to start because ssl3.dll was not found. Reloading application may remedy this." I reloaded Firefox, the current version, clicked on open and received the same message. I've reloaded Firefox 3 more times with the same results. Now I need HELP.

See if you can make Webroot restore that file in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).<br />
If not then you need to reinstall Firefox and make sure that Webroot doesn't do that another time.

Firefox starts on my iMac, but no window appears. I try File > New Window, but no window appears. I tried rebooting my iMac and I downloaded and reinstalled Firefox -- still no window. I've been using Firefox for years and have never had a problem like this. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

• How to make Firefox open automatically a new, empty tab in each start, but keep last sessions?

How to make Firefox open automatically a new, empty tab in each start? (keep last sessions as well) It will be good, because Firefox wont load the previous sessions last watched tab after start straight away, but keep my previous sessions tab as well in the browser.

Hello,
You can change your home page settings to open a blank tab:
* Tools (or ) > Options > General
* Beside "Startup", change to "Show a blank tab"
* See the article Startup, home page and download settings for more information
To retrieve your previous browsing session, first make sure that you are not running in Private Browsing mode. When you start Firefox, to recover your previous session, you can go to:
* History (or > History) > Restore Previous Session
* Please see Restore previous session - Configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs and windows for more information

• I can't delete add on bar. I can only temporarly hide it. When I close the browser, then come back and open browser later, the add on bar is back again. This started right after version 11 ato uploaded to my PC. I use Windows XP, Service Pack 3.

I can't delete add on bar. I can only temporary hide it. When I close and open later, the add on bar is back. I have to delete by checking off each time I open Firefox 11. Previous versions "remembered" my original settings.

Thank you. I have been using the Fox die (Graphite) 10.3 theme for about 4 years. In all previous versions of Firefox, had no problem. When I customized the settings, Firefox remembered these settings. I like to run browser with the absolute minimum of bars, so that I have maximum view of web pages.I have had no recent add on's in over a year. When Firefox uploaded automatically recently, that's when this problem started. Now it takes 4 clicks every time I log on to Firefox to delete add on bar. Firefox won't remember the previous setting. I honestly think the bug is with the new version, being the latest.
I don't know how to start in safe mode.

• I lost firefox after updating. It will not open and a pop up window comes up saying "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of firefox. Do you want to reboot."

Nothing happens after reboot, continue to get the same message. If try to uninstall or reinstall firefox get same message and cannot uninstall or reinstall. Any solutions for this problem?
This is on a Sony Vaio with windows 7. I3 processor

Try a clean reinstall.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
* Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

• When I open up to firefox after download of 4 Betas Automaticly FireFox says it needs to download the updated 3.6 back on my computer, so do I need to redownload 4 betas again?

Started using Firefox 4 Betas (pilot test), I closed or logged off computer for a little then signed back on, automaticly had a request to allow Firefox to update so I selected to allow. Firefox updated to the 3.6.
So what happened to FireFox 4 Betas I had previously downloaded?

The Firefox 4 betas by default are installed in a different location than Firefox 3.6. You appear to have opened Firefox 3.6 which would then update it to the latest version. You should still have the Firefox 4 beta installed. Check your program files to see if Firefox 4 beta is installed. The release version is normally found here - C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ and beta vesion in a folder with a name similar to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta n\
For info the Firefox 4 release candidate is due out soon, though no date has been set it may be sometime in the next week.

• Type Error: oE Started immediately after Auto Java update! Other threads just started but doesn't mention the relationship! Firefox reset does not correct

Problem correlates exactly with the Java update time per event viewer! Problem is starting to gain traction as more users experience same! Can’t determine how to fix? Maybe an error in the Java update?

I have also been having this problem, starting today, although my Firefox doesn't crash/close when the error box pops up - I can just close the box and carry on browsing.
However, as with the person in the thread listed above, I found that disabling McAfee SiteAdvisor seems to stop it happening (it happened fairly at random, but in about half an hour of browsing with it disabled, I haven't had the error pop up, compared to within a few minutes when SiteAdvisor is enabled). It looks like there was also a SiteAdvisor update today, so that also correlates with the onset of this problem. Are other people getting this problem using SiteAdvisor? I don't know much about the mechanics of SiteAdvisor - could there be a link with Java too?
Using Firefox 27.0, Windows 7 SP1, McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.6.5, Java 10.45.2.18.

• I had to remove and reistall Firefox after it would not open. When I try to install Windows asks for a password for me to download? How do I get around this?

I downloaded Axis from Yahoo. The next day Firefox would not open at all. I removed and tried to reinstall. Now whenever I try to reinstall Firefox, windows asks me to enter a password before I can install. How do I get around this?

Yes, sometimes the problem can happen before the window is able to show up.
As for the administrator password I'll double check if that's normal or also a symptom, but helping you with the password is not our area of expertise, you'd need to get support from Microsoft. Do you know if your account is admin or limited? You can try putting your credentials in.

• I can't open any firefox after creating a profile and exiting firefox. How can i fix this?

How do i get Firefox to open? i created a profile and now when i open any kind of firefox it shows a message saying: "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time." how can i fix this?!

Make sure you kill any firefox process that is still running. You probably have an error in the path location that the sartup link is pointing to. If you are trying to open two instances at once (I often do that) then you need to use the switch -no-remote

• A recommendation to upgrade to Firefox 6.o just came out. When I started to upgrade, I was advised that my antivirus software would be disabled (Avasti) So far I have justmstopped the upgrade process as I want an antivirus running. Any suggestions?

If I upgrade I will not have an antivirus

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

• In Firefox 4.0.1 (Mac), where is the arrow in the url window that shows the last few visiting sites in a given tab?

Previous editions of Firefox had an arrow at the right side of the url window of a tab so you could see where you'd been in that tab before--where is it now?

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking (or control-clicking) on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker (I believe the add-on works on the Mac, but as I do not have a Mac I can not test it)

• Preferences window does not open, only makes firefox window inactive but preferences window never shows up.

Firefox 3.6 preferences work normally, tested also with ff 3.6 removed.

You should check to see if an add-on is interfering with the process. See Troubleshooting extensions and themes.
