Firefox and Flash

I downloaded and installed Adobe FlashPlayer recently from
Internet Explorer (IE), when I attempting to review an ecard at the
Blue Mountain website. This operation worked and I was subsequently
able to view the cards. Today, I was using Firefox, as my browser,
and when I attempted to view an ecard at Blue Mountain, I, once
again was directed to download Adboe FlashPlayer. I repeated the
process I performed with IE, but, unfortunately, I still can not
view the cards while using Firefox. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Frank

IE uses the Flash Player ActiveX control (and is the only
browser to do so).
Firefox, and all other browsers, use the Flash Player plugin.
Which is why you had to do a separate install.
When you use FireFox to view the Flash Player test page, what
do you see?

  • I still cannot view flash players in firefox after uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and flash multiple times. how do i fix this issue perminantly?

I can go into chrome without any issues and watch any video without any problem. the second i get into firefox nothing works. i have had this issue on and off for years. i really do not see why you cannot fix this if everybody else can. i have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player multiple times. nothing seems to work. I am truly getting really tired of this same problem year after year, i stay with firefox because you are privacy conscience and are being more so consistently. i do not know what other details to tell you other than this just keeps happening and it is making it very tough to do anything on firefox when i cannot use a simple thing such as flash player. as i said, if the other browsers can fix this i see no reason why firefox cannot year after year. i hope there is a simple fix for this problem because it has basically halted a lot of my work on the net as i will no longer use google or microsoft. thank you

Firefox does not play videos. That is the job of the plugins.

I am trying to use SiteFusion to build a website. When I go to upload a PSD file I get a "Flash plugin has crashed" message and the ability to select the PSD file and upload it stops. • Firefox and flash is a disgrace and destroying the internet

I am finding that the internet is useless anymore because there are no browsers that work with flash. none. Not any. Not IE, not chrome, not firefox that pos. that used to hold so much promise and that I so loved to use.
why after two decades can no one write a program that can browse the web, use flash, which is a requirement in most place, without crashing, without opening 28 shockwave processes that stop my computer from shutting down normally? That locks up and five seconds later says shockwave has stopped, and then has the balls to say, do you want me to ignore this message. goddam it yes I do! sorry folks. been using the net since there was a web and now its totally useless. My only comment would be don't waste my time with version numbers, uninstalls, upgrades and all the crap I grew up with windows, I understand "we are so stupid, jus re-install to fix it" That dog don't hunt I do all of that and know what I am doing. Plus, what exactly are the update notices for if when I say yes, the latest is not installed. already reistalled windows 7, firefox latest, adobe latest not able to downgrade either as that process does NOT work. I jus spent five hours on the web, hanging out on sites and getting tossed offf, locked up,, and astouned to look at the task manage and see two dozen flash processes all running I open firefox every time, to adobe. com, hoping for some reason tha would help. IT locks up on adobe's own site They suck as much as th browsers No, everything is new, updated, uninstled, restarted in safe mode. when i use safe mode and hit a page that want flash, its" fuck me time" with a dozen shockwave processes already started up.
This is really serious. I know I am royally pissed and could be friendlier, but the internet is all about web browsers an adobe flash when it fails, what good id the web and when will this get taken seriously? its a bad as if suddenly cell phones started crashing ten times a day. We need these tools and we need them to work, no excuses. I can't even order car parts at the local stores because I don't have a browser that will not puke on their flash content. IE, CHrome, Firefox, and Opera all throw up when adobe is added or needed. I cannot contact adobe, they refuse to discuss it Are we all out here totally alone? the net is kind of important, what can folks do to make this work? I am no longer a programmer, but i do know that when I buy a product off the shelf, it works When I use this freeware that always had so much promise, it don't work and there is no one acountable to help me out.
Time for someone to create a browser that works on the world wide web I'll pay $75 for one that works and one that if it hiccups, I can talk to someone and get it fixed. Remember that freeware built the net?? tha day is gone, freeware is destroying the net and I will pay for quality. its better than searching for help nd reading ll the smarmy comments about, "fix it yourself" or reinstall it, or down grade it or start it in safe mode, or get a better rabbits' foot I find this to be a critical problem and again want it known that those who are not smarte enough to deal with it, should be replaced by educated, paid programmers who are willing an able to make it work. I 'll pay. I don't think I am alone in that. The internet is dead without a web browser. My god, get the government involve, they could NOT screw it up more than the browser authors have done.. do we need a bombard adobe and knock them out of business, see to their demise? Help?????

  • Why in the world is the most current version of firefox AND flash having TONS of problems playing hulu videos? either chewing the crap out of my processor but playing ok, or chewing the crap out of my processor and not even playing video at all?

used to be firefox and hulu got along just fine, never had my computer get retarded slow or any of the other things its currently doing while there's a tab open with hulu... but here lately its been eating the snot outta my processor (between firefox.exe and plugin container the two are consistently using 100% of my processor... most of it being firefox.exe itself)
and tonight i cant watch hulu at all. the video shows a frame then its another 10-15 seconds before another single frame is showed.
my firefox is the most current version.
my adobe flash player plugin is the most current version.
there's no reason this should be happening but it is happening and its friggin annoying
    ============================
this happens anytime i'm in the part of hulu that has the player for showing whatever episode i'm attempting to watch. when i attempt to watch hulu i have no other tabs open and no other excess programs running on my computer, and firefox+plugincontainer run my CPU to 100% just between those two processes. i can browse around the internet just fine (like checking my email, or even getting to my queue list on hulu, which i have my homepage set as.. the queue list loads fine but the player part of hulu is when things go to crap)
and i just tried the exact same episode of lie to me that i couldnt watch on firefox.... tried watching it on internet explorer and its playing perfextly fine EVEN WHILE FIREFOX IS OPEN.
firefox is my preferred browser and i hope this junk can be fixed somehow.

  • Not PR related, but related for some: Firefox and Flash

Sorry if this is the wrong forum (mods, please move to the correct forum if you want), but since there are many people around here who publish to the web, I thought I would share with you some problems I encountered with:
    Windows 8 64 Enterprise
    Firefox 18, and
    Adobe Flash Player plug-in.
This is a terrible combination. After installing Flash Player, Firefox often comes to a halt, not responding anymore and the only solution is a complete removal of the Flash Player. This applies to all 10.x and 11.x versions of the Flash plug-in. In TaskManager or Process Explorer this weird behavior is shown as two instances of the plug-in running.
    The remedy:
In Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and open the file 'mms.cfg'.  Add a single line:
    ProtectedMode=0
to this file and save. Now restart Firefox and your problems have gone.

    Never noticed this behavior myself.

  • Why is the color offset on Flash Player in my Firefox, even after reinstalling both Firefox and Flash Player?

I have the latest version of Flash Player, the latest version of Firefox and my system is a Windows 7 64-bit. Every time I view a Flash Player window, the green color is offset down about one-quarter of the window. This makes it difficult to use Firefox to watch Flash content. This does not happen on any other browsers I have.

When I click that link, it goes (as it should from a U.S. IP Address) to the hyperlinked page 87, which is where the English portion begins.
Your browser or International settings may prevent it from doing so, but I have nine machines that ALL parse the link the same way.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Updated Firefox AND Flash, and now flash won't play anymore

So, back in the last version of Firefox, Flash v11.3 wouldn't load correctly. The official solution was to roll it back, install a previous version, and I guess that's alright, but I was really hoping it was a temporary solution.
So now Firefox has updated to version 15. I thought this would solve the problem, and according to the old entries about Flash not working, it has. But then I updated flash, and now it's 11.4, and after updating twice I'm right back where I'm started.
Maybe this hasn't been articulated well enough? The problem isn't that it's a specific version that doesn't work and I'm willing to keep all my plugins in eternal limbo, it's that it doesn't work period. So, I guess I'm just supposed to roll back again? What should it be this time? Flash or Firefox? Does it matter? Which one hates the other one more? Will there ever be an actual solution to this, or will I just have to have outdated versions of one or the other forever?
And also, this is curious, according to this thing below that automatically reads your plugins and what not, I not only have 11.4, but also still have Flash 10.3 installed somehow. Maybe that will make it easier to roll back, but... does that make a difference? Is there anyone with Firefox 15 and Flash 11.4 that doesn't have this problem? I'm kinda hesitant to delete 10.3 because I might... you know, need it.

    Shockwave Flash 11.4 r402 <br />
    Shockwave Flash 10.3 r183
Having both versions installed is probably a big part of your problem.
    Uninstall Flash completely. <br />
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Then install the version that you found to be least problematic for you, which sounds like v 10.3.
Personally I have stayed with Flash 10.3, which is still getting security updates from Oracle / Adobe. Then again, I am using WinXP - not Vista. I have had no problems with Flash 10.3, like the problems I have seen posted here with 11.3 and 11.4.
    YMMV.
Keep in mind that IE uses its own version of Flash - ActiveX is what it is called in the Add / Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel. That version won't affect Firefox in any manner. The version numbers don't need to be the same for both the ActiveX version of Flash and the '''Plugin''' version which Firefox ''(and most other browsers)'' use.

  • Problems with Safari, Firefox and Flash player

Ever since I got my new iMac that has Snow Leopard I've had problems with Safari and Firefox freezing or crashing. It appears that part of the problem is the Flash plugin because sometimes a screen pops up and says something like: the flash script is having problems. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash, Safari and Firefox but the problem is still there. My browser seems to hang up or freeze a lot no matter if I use Safari or Firefox.
    Any ideas?
I just discovered the Chrome browser from Google this morning and so far its working very well. No freezes and it appears to handle Flash video without any problems.
    How can that be?
    Thanks

Ah! The proverbial missing information. Why the regrets? Most people are having no issues migrating from previous computers; it's the preferred method. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac. You're a long way from starting over.

  • Firefox and Flash installed on USB-stick

On my company PC we've got IE6 installed.
Iv'e installed Firefox 3.6.12 on a USB stick and want to install Adobe Flash as well. I've downloaded and installed it does not appear as a Firefox plugin. How can I point Firefox to the right Flash "address"?

  • Firefox and Flash issues

This transparent flash works great in IE and you can click
the links under where the flash area is, sprys work...
    http://www.cjmracing.com/index_30.html
however in Firefox nothing under the transparent flash
    works?? any suggestions.

This is the Solution that I found, thing is Adobe added something called "Protection Mode" to Flash in 11.3 and you need to disable it and all is well.
To do that you need to restart your pc so you know flash is turned off other wise you can't modify the config files for it.
    For 32bit users:
    '''C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg'''
    For 64bit users:
    '''C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg'''
In both cases all you need to do is add:
    '''ProtectedMode=0'''
To the next line in the file and save it.
Worked for me, and I had been searching for weeks, if it works for you please do what you can to spread the word!

  • OSX 10.8.3, Firefox and Flash now incompatible?

Ever since installing the latest version of Firefox, I have effectively been unable to view anything requiring Flash Player; I get error messages telling me JavaScript is not turned on when it is, or that there are apparently no plugins available. The Firefox support forums seem to be full of people having problems of one kind or another with Flash, and some people are claiming that the two are flatly not compatible; others suggest insanely complicated diagnostic and workaround solutions, including (gawd 'elp us) full reinstalls. Mozilla is saying nothing, which is a very bad sign.
Should I just forget Firefox? I've been using it for years, but some of the changes made in the latest update are aggressively user-hostile, so I won't really miss it. If that's the case, what would you suggest as an alternative, other than Safari?

OK, let me elaborate further. I have searched for every conceivably relevant plugin, and have the following activated and up-to-date as of today:
    • Java Applet Plug-in Java 7 Update 25
    • RealPlayer Plugin.plugin 0.0.1d1
Every other reference to Flash in the Firefox Add-ons manager seems involve Flash blockers of one kind or another. I do have NoScript activated, but even after I remove every block on a specific website, it makes no difference. In the past, I would simply click "Temporarily allow", and everything would be fine.
Next, if I go to Adobe to try and download Flash version 11.8.800.94, I get error message "JavaScript is currently disabled in your browser and is required to download Flash Player."
However, in my "about:config" settings, Javascript.enabled is set to "default" and "true" (BTW, another example of, to the user, insane, unwanted and idiotic changes by Mozilla - what happened to the simple on-off switch for Java in boring old Preferences?). So there should be no reason for Firefox to be telling Adobe that Java is disabled.
At this point I have hit a brick wall... Perhaps I should add that this is all taking place on a brand new coumputer, with a clean installation of Mountain Lion, so in theory there should be no monsters lurking in the depths of the hard drive.
(And why can't I use carriage return to format paragraphs on this form?)

  • How do I get audio back on YouTube after updating Firefox and Flash?

Last night I updated Firefox to 32.0.3.  Today I noticed that YouTube has no audio, although video works fine.  I updated Flash to 15.0.0.152.  Still no audio.  I tried to update Shockwave, but after hitting “download”, it kept forwarding to the Creativity page.  I use XP SP3, and the specs say it is still supported with these updates.  This is the third time I have tried to post this question and keep getting non-functional dialog boxes on the Adobe site.

First, try disabling hardware acceleration.  The troubleshooting guide below explains how:
