Firefox and hotmail

Hello,
Ok I always have problems with www.hotmail site. When I open it in Firefox and try to write a mail, the mail body (the space of actual mail) is "unclickable". I mean, I cannot click on it, and I cannot mark the text out. The only way to reach it to write a mail is to use "tab" key on keyboard, but then you cannot fix the mail at all cause you can't click on it, so it makes use of hotmail unbearable. I use other browser just for hotmail but it's so inconvenient. Other sites work ok but hotmail... what's wrong with it?
On the other hand, fields like "to" and "subject" are ok. Only mail body is "missing"
Hope someone can help me
Thanks
Using Firefox 3.6 now, was on 3.5 with same problems...

Great support! Bravo, Mozilla team! You're the best. No support, and no one who cares on forum.
Anyway. My problem is solved. It was a gesture extension. After turning it off problem is gone. Not sure but hope there's a way to set the extension to work without affecting hotmail.
Thank you everyone.

When I start Firefox, about 15 seconds after I start it, my Firefox freezes for about 1 minute. I found out that it is my Hotmail that makes Firefox freeze.
First I thought it was my computer, but I have 2 other girls in my class that use Hotmail and Firefox and their computer also freezes for 1 full minute.
This is very annoying, what can I do to change this?

No virus, but that "emoticons" thing dumped a load of Malware on your PC.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • I downloaded the newest version of Firefox and now I can not use any of the clickable link tabs in yahoo mail, gmail, or hotmail. Do you know what is causing this.

Go to msn.com for example: at the top of their page they have clickable link to hotmail. When I upgraded to Firefox 7 this link no longer works. Same thing happens with my yahoo mail, gmail and hotmail. If you open up yahoo mail for example; I can not click on the signout tab.... it doesn't function with firefox 7. I worked prior to uploading new version. I don't have that problem on my windows 7 platform.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I can not open specific web sites like youtube, facebook and hotmail in my firefox! This time is youtube, last time was hotmail and now also facebook...

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />

  • Hotmail account keeps getting overridden by an espn page. I have reset Firefox and still have the same trouble. Any other suggestions? I use Mac OS X

I am unable to keep my hotmail account open. Several minutes after I have logged in, the hotmail inbox page diverts to an espn page. I have to completely shut down the entire page to get away from the espn site.
I have reset FireFox and I am still having the same issue.
This just started today. My hotmail account works perfectly in safari.

hello lurch, just for reference, another user has reported the same issue on a windows pc: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/930290
could you please copy all the content from help > troubleshooting information and paste that into your next reply. thank you...

  • Yet again another problem with Firefox Beta and Hotmail

So, I think the new version of firefox 4.XXX does not like hotmail or vice versa. When in hotmail and composing a new message, I cannot add attachments at all. I once again verified that I had this ability in the most current version of Firefox and in Safari. Everything works fine. Did the usual junk, dumped my cache, etc. And I am still having a problem with the calendar not loading. I use to work in IT in a support function and I can clearly tell you that the new browser does not like Windows Live/ Hotmail, whatever you want to call it. It is broken, so please fix this because I like the new browser other than the hotmail issues.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Updated Firefox and lost all toolbars, Hotmail, EVERYTHING!! How do I fix this?

Updated Firefox last evening. Got up this morning to a whole new page on the computer. Clicked on Firefox and got a blank page with just a Firefox logo and a Google search line. There are no toolbars for me to use to get to my e mail, pictures or other data.
I clicked on the introductory and info arrows and it keeps telling me to click on the tool bar....there isn't one. How do I get my programs back? Where is my tool bar? I see a lot of other complaints like this, so this problem should have been fixed BEFORE you offered the update.
I want my original opening page and tool bar and my Hotmail back. PLEASE!

Set the pref <b>browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • Why is firefox crashing every time I try to compose or reply to email in Gmail and Hotmail?

After I upgraded to Firefox 10, I can open gmail and hotmail, read email, but if I try to compose an email, or reply to an existing one, it crashed. Also, just now when I tried to fill in this box here with firefox, it crashed. I am now using Chrome, and will continue to do so until there is a solution. This crashing thing is more than a little annoying.

    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes#w_get-help-fixing-this-crash
Type '''about:crashes''' in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
    # Middle-Click the hyperlinks to bring up each Crash Report page in a new Tab; each page may take a few minutes to load.
    # '''Then copy'n'paste the URL of each of those reports into the message box here.'''
    # We'll see if we can help you figure out what is causing those crashes to happen.
If you can't open Firefox or keep it open long enough to get the Crash Report ID's, even in the Firefox Safe Mode - see the section entitled - '''''You can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:'''''.

  • I accidentally uninstalled firefox and thunderbird whilst cleaning. can i reinstall or recover my hotmail and gmail emails?

I accidentally uninstalled both firefox and thunderbird during a clean up. I am now trying to reciver my previous hotmail and gmail emails. Having used Outlook and re set my email accounts it has synched and 'pulled' up emails from gmail back to August and Hotmail back a month.
Is there any way of recovering the older emails?

Re-install Thunderbird, add the accounts again.
We don't know if you were using POP or IMAP.
IMAP will show you any messages on the server.
POP would have stored messages on your computer. You could recover these by importing the mailbox files for the previous instance of the account, so long as your "clean up" didn't also remove the profile.
    Information about the profile:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb
This add-on can help import old mailboxes:

Thanx 4 your "you're welcome" cor-el. It's now 4p.m. E.S.T. in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on Thu. 29/9/2011 and my page tells me u sent this message 21Hrs. ago. To elaborate a bit on my prev. message: I soon realized that after R clicking in the 'Downloads' screen and then on the 2nd. in the drop down menu I could click and drag and drop the icon of the wanted download into the open file or memory device as required. I would take up the offer I see in this e-mail to participate in helping like you and others do but I won't as I feel I'm not experienced enough yet. Nevertheless u keep up the good work. • Facebook and Hotmail will not work on my Macbook pro

Facebook and Hotmail will not work on my Macbook pro. I have tried safari and firefox. I have unloaded and reloaded an old version of firefox and still no luck. When go to ebay it opens but looks very weird. I am using Mac OS X Version 10.6.6 with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I am so frustrated, I have tried everything I can think of and still no luck.

Good of you to offer the detail you did (a lot of people don't bother) but it still is not quite enough. Texting that it "looks very weird" just leaves me blank. Most basic remedy for browser issues is to use Safari to google "adobe flash" and download a fresh file & install. Can't think of anything else given what you've posted....

  • I cannot attache files using Firefox for Hotmail or Yahoo - IE works - help!

Wed night 3/2 and this am 3/4 cannot attach any files pdf or doc while using Firefox in my Hotmail or yahoo email accounts. I did a virus speep and none was found. I opened internet explorer on the same home computer and was able to attach the files via my email accounts. Any help?

You have a lot of changes to your setting in the network.http section. These are listed in the More System Details list to the right of your question under "Question Details". Do you recall making those changes, or did you use some kind of browser speedup or tuning software that could have done it?
To test how Firefox runs "uncustomized" on your system, could you do a two-minute experiment?
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (don't click the button to choose a different folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    Do sites work more normally?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.
