Firefox and Minefield won't open articles in the Washington Post. Any suggestions?
It opens the front page of the site, but not all articles.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

When I burn my iDVD there are several times it skips (hesitates) during the show. I have 431 shows in the show.
Any suggestions on burning a clean copy?Thats the problem with creating slideshows in iDVD. Slides in such a slideshow are considered to be Chapters and a Track can contain a maximum of 99 Chapters. Early versions of iDVD only let you use 99 images in slideshows. Newer versions let you use more images by linking Tracks together. The problem is, many/most set top DVD players will pause/freeze on Track changes - thus the hesitation you see after every 99 images.
The only way to avoid this is to create your slideshow as a movie in iMovie, or use a commercial program like Boinx's FotoMagico (that I use) or Photo to Movie that others here use. -
I was trying to update Firefox but could not. I went ahead and downloaded the latest version but it won't open. I tried deleting, and then reinstalling, same problem. I am running AVAST antivirus

Upgrade failed, it corrupt my Firefox and now won't open at all???
I just received a notice this a.m. to upgrade Firefox. I accept it and followed the defaults. Now, FF won't open at all.
Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.

Click the '''General''' tab to find out where your Downloads are going to. It should be listed in the '''Downloads''' section. You might need to click on the '''Browse''' button to find out exactly where they are going.
Once you know where the downloads are going to, you can go directly to that location and open them from there.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

My airport extreme (generation 5) was set up using wifi and has worked flawlessly (on macbook pro 2 iphones and window 7 HP pc)until recently. I have reset to factory defaults over and over but still cannot get on the internet. However I can then take my DSL cord and insert it in a different Ethernet port other than the WAN port and I can get internet on my Mac and iphones but only wifi on my husband's PC. I hate to spend another $179 if this is just something I'm doing wrong. Please help
I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11. -
My original file is an Apple Pro Res 422 .mov with a 10:55 duration at 23.976fps. I don't have any issues converting this file to any other format - just to the MPEG 2. I'm not trying to alter the frame rate: I just want to compress to the two separate files: a Blu-Ray stream MPEG-2 with a bitrate of 30mbs and a Dolby Digital .ac3
No matter what I try I always seem to get a roughly 50 minute file (although this duration varies by 4-6 minutes which is confusing) which contains my original video without any problems, and then is filled with a black screen for the remaining time.
I've never had this issue with previous versions of Compressor - if anyone has any suggestions I'll gladly give them a try!

Yes, yes, yes... I've gone through all the common sense trouble shoots. Would't be here asking questions if that answers existed on the net. Sorry if I sound a bit edgey, but I've had nothing but issues with every update since IOS 7. Clearly there's nothing that can be done about this. and this is the final nail in the coffin to try to make me buy an Iphone 5.

I updated my mac a couple days ago and now nothing works. Safari and Firefox the wheel just spins. Chrome shows me the page then freezes and saids unresponsive. Mail works. Can not open system preferences. Have rebooted 5 or 6 times. Was wondering if I should try and download mountain lion, but not sure I could.
Upgrading to a newer OS X in most instances won't fix a browser issue, combined with the fact you can't open System Preferences, that's an indication that the startup disk needs repairng.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, start up from your Mac install disc to make repairs.

If the startup disk appears to be ok, restore OS X from the instructions at that link.
Backup all important data before restoring OS X.
