Firefox and windows 8.1

Have a computer that was loaded with windows 8 using internet explorer. I downloaded 8.1. I want to use firefox will it work with windows 8.1? If not, can I get back to windows 8 and then download firefox?

Under my Windows 8.1, Firefox 32.0.1 refuses to access the internet, but Firefox 32.0 accesses the internet correctly.
While Firefox 32.0.1 was installed in my computer, my Internet Explorer refused to access the internet, but my FTP reader/writer accessed the internet correctly.

Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7. This is happening at many sites, such as hotmail, google reader, and many others.

Sorry, I don't think that is a message from inside Firefox, the wording doesn't sound correct - at least the beginning of that message. My "gut" thinks that is a MSN Live message to explain and compensate for their lack of security with a re-direct from a secure domain to an un-secure domain. ''(the end of that message)''
{Ctrl + Shft + J} will open the Firefox Error Console - I'm curious what Firefox has to say about that situation. If you find the error message for that domain, you can right-click the message to '''copy''' it and then paste that error message here.
Maybe '''TonyE''' or '''cor-el''' will be more familiar with the situation at Live and maybe at Google Reader, I don't use either of those services and have never seen a message like that myself.

  • Facebook reports that i'm using v3.5 of Firefox and Windows 2000 when running on 16.0.2 and XP (upgraded system). where is this info and how to reset?

the PC was upgraded from Win2000 to XP, and has all the XP service packs installed. it is also running Firefox 16.0.2. when i go to Facebook, and other pages, it says that i'm running an unsupported operating system (says i'm using Windows 2000), and i should upgrade my browser to the latest version (says i'm running FF 3.5, or FF 3.6, can't remember which). i' ve looked thru the registry, but haven't found anything that jumps out. where else could this info be stored that Firefox is looking at.

    '' pbturner wrote:''
where is this information stored? and how can i correct it?
It's explained in the “Firefox is showing the wrong User Agent” section of the aforementioned article.
    # Type ''about:config'' in the address bar and press Enter.
    # Press the big button to bypass the warning.
    # In the Search bar, paste ''general.useragent''
    # If any of the search results show “Status: user set”, right-click each one and choose '''Reset'''
You should also get rid of Fast Browser Search, which is what corrupted your user agent string. Other names to watch out for are “Fast Browser search protection”, “Fast Browser Search (MyTattoo)”.<br>These may appear not only in your Firefox add-ons, but also your Internet Explorer add-ons and Windows Control Panel, in the Uninstall or Add or Remove Programs category.

  • Flash based ads not appearing in Firefox and windows 8

My readers reported that my bloger based website WW.NEWSPADHO.COM that is adsense approved is not showing flash related ads on firefox and also on windows 8. Is there any solution for it. Should we customize the type of ads showing on our blog or any other solution ? In Firefox it may be due to missing plugins and what about windows 8. Because with increase in number of windows 8 users, our adsense ad views are decreasing. Plz help.

I've branched this to a new thread, as the issue you're having in Firefox was distinct from the issue the other person was having in Internet Explorer.
That said, it would be helpful if you could provide a clear description of the problem that you're having in Firefox, and some pertinent details, like the version of Flash Player and Firefox that you have installed.

  • Print and even print preview comes out unreadable. Do i need to change any internal print options. My printer works with the old firefox and windows internet explorer for the SAME document. I only have a problem printing while in firefox 4.0.

My printouts from web pages using the previous firefox and internet explorer products work.

There's a bug in 4.0b12, which is fixed in 4.0RC.
Open '''Help > About Firefox''' and it should check for and install the update. If it doesn't, use the '''Check for Update''' button in that "About" dialog.

  • Problem with touchpad using firefox and windows 8.1. I don't have a problem with explorer 11.

new HP computer with windows 8.1. Firefox does not work well with the touch pad when scrolling . very slow and erratic, most noticeable when using facebook. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer 11.
Old computer had windows 7 and my preference was to use firefox over explore. At this time i'm being forced to use explore and firefox is to aggravating to use.

Currently Firefox is not available for metro devices.
However, make sure that the touch features are enabled by searching for "touch" in the about:config entries.
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' to continue to the about:config page.

  • Flash Player crashes on Firefox and Windows 8

I too have this problem and it occurred after Firefox's recent update.
The Flash Player crashes any time I open a website with embedded Flash videos.
I cannot watch anything that requires Flash Player and when on Facebook, the pages continually crash. I send a crash report each time then reload and it crashes again. I send about 20 reports per hour and am sick of it and have started using another browser where I do not have this problem but my preferred browser is Firefox.
I have Firefox 35.0.1 which is the latest  version.
My operating system is Windows 8
The plugin I have for Flash Player is Firefox, Mozilla - NPAPI 16.0.0.296 however when I check with Flash Player, it tells me the version I have is 16.0.0.235.
When I try to upgrade, I am informed that my version is up to date.
    Steps taken
    - updated Flash Player
    - Cleared caches
    - Unchecked hardware acceleration in Firefox.
I cannot find the menu for Flash Player as I'd like to try to disable hardware accelerator there too.
    HELP please.

Your issue is distinct from the original poster's issue about a crash on Mac.  I've branched this out to a new thread so that we're not confusing everyone.
Firefox on Win8 isn't very stable.  We're collaborating with Mozilla on improvements, and my test results with the daily development builds are really promising, but it will be a few more weeks before they actually make it to production releases.
In the meantime, you're way better off using IE or Chrome.

  • I use Firefox and Windows 7, when I'm using my main account on computer it starts old version of firefox and when I use the guest account it start the new version. Why and how to fix it?

Guy that repairs my computer asked me if i saved new firefox just on guest account, but i didn't, i re-installed it again and again.

Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

  • Firefox and Windows live mail won't play well together

If I open windows live mail from the task bar in windows 7 (64) I have to click on Firefox 5-10 times until it opens. If I open Firefox first, no problems. If I open live mail first, (which automatically opens messenger) I have to close both to open Firefox. Firefox is my default browser. I installed updates. Everything's current .

  • Which fingerprint password managers work with firefox and windows 7?

I am running Windows 7 Home Basic on a Dell XPS laptop. I have recently switched to Firefox because Internet Explorer is making me crazy on a regular basis. It is not allowing some downloads and installs and I am tired of going backwards to find another IE that will work. Firefox seems to be doing the trick so far. I want to purchase a biometric fingerprint reader to manage my passwords, but most don't seem to work with Windows 7, and many of the ones that do will not work with Firefox. Has anyone run across the device I am looking for?

  • Yahoo mail using firefox and windows 7 drops graphics text in boxes???

when in yahoo mail, the graphics text within action boxes, ie, send; move etc do not display. sometimes the box outlines do not display. any fix? site works fine with IE. was using 3.6 , tried going to beta 4 but has same problem

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Pictures no longer appear in Outlook 2007 emails just shows a red X, I have 3.6.3 Firefox and Windows Vista.

I have Firefox 3.6.3, Outlook 2007 and MS Vista. A few days ago I noticed that images would no longer appear in email message, even after I click "Download images". I have tried all settings related to this in Tools/Options with no luck. This is no just happening to new messages but to all messages in Outlook, no pics will display...I just see a red "X" in a square box.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== A few days ago...I have recently upgraded to 3.6.3

I know Firefox is a browser, but when I upgraded to 3.6.3 I suddenly lost images in Outlook, could the upgrade be the issue. I was forced to kill an add-on DNA 1.0.0.01, does this affect anything? All relevant and obvious settings in Outlook and Firefox are set correctly (Tools/Options/Load Images Automatically is checked in Firefox for example), but no pics. I have seen other threads online from 2007 on with this issue mentioned but still no solution that has worked for me, from either the FF side or Outlook side.

  • WRT54GL and Windows 7 log in issue

    I have a network of several PC's on my WRT54GL router - firmware 4.30.14 build 5, Oct. 26, 2009
All PC's are XP SP3 except one Win 7 PC
When I access my WRT54GL from all of my XP computers, I log in once and I am done. I can access all the setup pages from then on.
When I log with my Win 7 computer, I keep getting the Windows security pop up window every time I click on a new tab or page.
I can view all the pages and tabs no problem once I enter the password again, but it is really annoying that it keeps asking
for log in info for every new item I click on.
Ticking the remember my credentials box does no good, it still ask again and again
This is my first Windows 7 computer, not sure how to stop this annoying behavior.
Any help on this matter is appreciated
This is the window that pops up all the time
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update
This seems to be a IE9 issue
I just accessed the router with Firefox and Windows 7
It only asked for user name and password once and I was able to browse all pages without being asked again for log in info.
I'll go ahead and mark it as a solution because it seems to an IE9 issue
