Firefox android opens to about.config as home page. unable to set new home page

firefox android always opens new tab or browser session on about:config page.
I've restarted browser and tablet(Samsung Galaxy Tab 3), and this behavior still persists.
All google searches suggest that the firefox android browser home page cannot be changed but this is obviously not true.
I've tried solutions that suggest navigating to about:home and modifying bookmarks and these paths do not work.
The awesome bar is far from awesome!!!!!!
How do I stop the browser from starting at about:config and how can I make the home page be what I want?

In the about:config page entry on the desktop there is a homepage entry, but does not show up on my android, odd.
Try this > Settings > Customize > Home
Change setting here and open a new tab to see if changes are made.
Also check the about:addons page to see if you have any homepage add ons that has saved the about:config page as the home page.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

My favicons are not showing up for all my imported bookmarks as well as certain current bookmarks and when I open the about:config it says "browser.chrome.favicons;false". Shouldn't this be true and how to I change it?

I had to rebuild my computer and when I imported all of my bookmarks they had no favicons. I started getting some of the favicons when I would go to the websight it would reconnect, but now I can't seem to see almost any of them. I did a search on Google and one tech site suggested the about:config file and that the "browser.chrome.favicons;false" should be set to true. But when I toggle it to true and restart Firefox it is once more set to false. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is really annoying not having those favicons.

The browser.chrome.favicons preference should be set to true, as it is not retaining the value when you restart Firefox, see the [[Preferences are not saved]] article for possible causes.

The "Mozilla Firefox Start Page"
and (sometimes?) a "New Tab" consosting of the 'most frequent' pages...*
* Refuses t update itself...Such as whe/if I unpin previously pinned sites in order to re-arrange them... [<places 1, 4,5,6 pinned> ...adjust it by unpinning 4-6 and re-pin them in/to places 2-4>]... Every time FF closes and re-opens, it resets to the previous 1,4,5,6 pins, with the EXACT SAME pages in the unpinned places... Deleting and repinning, or changing up the pinned pages does nothing for the long run...when the browser ENDS and stats up again...Back to the previous "setup"
Wanting/needing help getting it to STOP opening the unwanted "thank you for updating / latest changes to" tabs, and updating the most recent tabs/sites collection.

1. Start Firefox
* Done
2. Close the unwanted tabs
* Done
3. Wait 2 minutes
* Done...repeatedly to the point that there's been -HOURS- between FF sessions.
4. Restart Firefox and see if the tabs still appear on startup.
* Done, and -YES-

FF_BEFORE_restart.png -- Showing the current tabs opened, also depicting the "New Tab" window and it's 'speed dial' offering of most viewed pages
FF_ADJUSTED_Speed_Dial_window.png -- Showing (generally) how I put my speed dial windows.
FF_AFTER_Restart.png -- FireFox AFTER closing it and restarting it.
FF_RESET-Speed_Dial_Window.png -- The New Tab tab/window as it appears after adjusting, de-cluttering and "prettyfying" it.
You CAN ignore the 2nd & 4th pictures, as that problem isn't immediatly important...But yes, so far, closing the "excess" tabs, closing [waiting] and re-starting does nothing other than starts FF, closes the tabs, and restarts the browser...Only to have the annoyingly unwanted tabs in question reappear.

Can't install any add-ons after upgrading to Firefox 4.. tried about:config, still nothing. How come?

No matter which add-on I try to install, it says, "Software Installation is currently disabled. Click enable and try again." .. I've tried clicking enable as well as going to about:config and toggling xpi.enabled.. still nothing. Please help.

Ok. Fixed it.
Had to create a new profile.
If anyone has (had) the same problem, and you have a lot of bookmarks you don't wanna lose, make sure you back them up on your old profile as a saved file--on your desktop, create a new profile, and then import them in your new profile.

How to use about:config to REMOVE Delta Search from my new tab

I am desperate to remove Delta Search from my new tab page. What do I do after I open about:config? I have done at least a dozen resets, have removed DS via add/remove, am running a virus scan at present...this is TERRIBLE, and there HAS to be a way to get rid of it. When I do a reset, the new tab page is what I WANT...my previously saved pages. However, when I CLOSE FF and reopen, the new page is, once again, Delta. Can you hear me SCREAM? Can you see my TEARS? Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Page that appears when I click + to open a new tab... I set my home page as Google, but when I click + to open a new tab, I get AVG's search engine. In one solution, AVG suggested "open FF about:config...etc."

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

New Firefox 8 opens in 'about:home' page and whenever I enter any website I get into Google other than Google, I get a 404-Not Found error. Have tried all suggestions found in help so far with no fix.

Entering any website, such as www.facebook.com or www.yahoo.com, for example, directly onto the address bar reads a 404 error. Entering them onto the Google entry bar, I get a Google page that looks more like Ask.com before getting a 404 error when clicking onto it.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I am trying to setup a home page on my Android mobile device. All changes require access through the menu. This works fine on my desktop computer but there is no menu button in the mobile version.

Anyway, most major changes in Firefox take years, so there will be plenty of time to object to bad ideas.

When I click on Firefox, it opens to a blank, white screen and the tab says "New Tab". When ever I click on a link nothing happens, it just stays blank.

I have tried to reset Firefox and that didn't work. Chrome is having the same problem, only it says "Unable to connect to the Internet". I tried to open some links from my favorites folder and all it does is load for a fraction of a second and nothing changes.

Is the Windows 8.1 system you posted from the one with the problem, or is the problem on a different system? In that case, I assume it's also Windows.
Does Internet Explorer work normally or are all browsers affected?
Did this problem start shortly after any software changes, such as:
* Windows update
* installation of new software
* updates to add-ons

How do I get Firefox to open on both of my monitors in separate windows with different start pages (my stock portfolio on one monitor, google on another) on Mac?

I want to be able to set the homepage for Firefox so that it will open in two windows (one on both of my monitors) with two separate pages (one monitor opens with Page A, the other monitor opens with Page B)
