The only way to fix this, is if you use a manual proxy configuration in Firefox. So all 100 + uni iMac's can only use Safari as I would need to do a profile push to all 300 students and I am unsure what file carries the proxy information.

If you don't have the user name and password used to set up the machine then you need to purchase the apps for yourself. -
The title speaks for itself. It's the school computer and I don't want it to save every student's username and password.
You can't disable it. I assume that you want to know which student is using the network at any given time. You would need a more advanced server-side solution for that, such as a captive portal.

It is a Mac port of a newer version of FF thatn any PowerPC Mac can support natively. It runs, looks and feel like FF.

On the MacBook, open up the Preferences dialog and go to the Sync panel. Click the Manage Account button so it shows more options, then click on the My Sync Key link to show you the Sync Key.
The sync key is the same as the secret phrase, it was renamed in recent versions of Firefox Sync. -
the green button, top left corner of a pop-up screen on MACbook, it's supposed to enlarge the pop-up to full MAC screen size, correct? Mine does not. Sometimes it makes the pop-up screen SMALLER. Appreciate someone solving this for me.
Are you talking about the green '+' button in the top left corner? That technically doesn't enlarge it. It switches the window from the default window size to the custom size you made. You can enlarge the window by moving your mouse to the bottom right corner of the window, and dragging until you get the size you want.

I switched from CenturyTel to Charter. I can't use Firefox because a box appears asking me for Authentication Required, User Name and Password. When I hit cancel, this message appears:
HTTP 401 - Unauthorized
Authorization is required to access the configuration server.
You must enter the correct username and/or password.
When I called Charter, they told me they recommended using Internet Explorer. I told them I didn't want IE, I preferred Firefox. They recommended I go to your support page, so here I am. :o)Have you reset the password recently for the email account?
A real simple fix usually is to delete the mail account (settings < mail contacts calendars, tap the affected account and choose delete at the bottom) Then re add the account. -

I think you have two separate issues & I'll try to answer in the order you need to address them.
First, it seems you have/had the trial of iWork '09 installed. It used to be that to update the trial to the licensed version with the box, you just inserted the DVD & ran the installer to convert the trial to licensed. This has changed with Snow Leopard. You now need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Next, you need to update iWork '09 to 9.0.5. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work. -
It looks like whenever one specifies Column default values at a library level then the content organizer routing goes a bit awry SPECIFICALLY FOR NON OFFICE FILES [e.g. PDF] . Below are the observations and issues
1. Column level default value set on a record library with auto declaration of records turned on. The content organizer routes the document to the library but also keeps a copy of the document in the drop off library. It does not remove it from the drop
off library. The instant we clear the default value settings at the library level of the target library the content organizer works as expected again.
2. If default value settings are specified on a column in the target library then the PDF file gets routed to the document library but all the metadata is blanked out. The copy of the file that remains in the drop off library has all the correct metadata but
the target library has blanked out metadata.
Are the 2 observations described above by design or are they bugs? If so is there any documentation that is available that proves this because this does not make logical sense and proving this to a client in the absence of any documentation is a challenge.
The problem goes away if we shift the default value to the site columns directly at the site collection level. It's just the library level defaults that the pdf files do not seem to agree withHi Lisa,
Thanks for responding. This can be replicated in any environment but is only replicable for a specific combination of content organizer settings . The combination of settings I am referring to can be seen in the screenshot below. If you turn off redirect
users to the drop off library for direct uploads to libraries and if you turn on sharepoint versioning then you should be able to replicate the issue. Also we are using managed metadata site columns. I simplified this use case to a custom content content type
with just 2 custom managed metadata columns and can still replicate the issue in several environments. Also note the issue does not occur if the default values are set at the site or site collection level. It only occurs if you set the column value default
at a library level. I was able to replicate this on a completely vanilla Enterprise records site collection freshly created just to test this. Also note that the issue is not that the file does not reach the destination library. The issue is the
document does not get removed from the drop off library after it is transfered to the destination library which technically should have gotten removed. -
Ive got a Mac Pro 2010, bought second hand through eBay. When it comes to update the software, the username is blocked to the previous owner. It appears off and the box goes directly to password. I have tried to reset then to log in in apple store with my login but didn't help. I would appreciate any tips to sort it out
Thanks fellasThat machine did not ship with Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8), so that means the copy of Mountain Lion on the machine was purchased by the former owner and is non-transferable. It is permanently linked to his/her Apple ID, so you cannot update or reinstall it.
What you need to do (which the seller should have done for you) is reinstall the original system that that machine came with. I believe that would be Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6). What you need to do is reinstall that system from the original disks. If the seller did not provide those disks, you can call Apple and get them replaced for a small shipping and handling fee.
