Firefox appears to stall, then recovers as I MOVE THE MOUSE

FF seems to stall on browsing anywhere. When I move the mouse it 'unstalls' and completes the DL or refreshes the page or whatever it was suppose to be doing when it stalled.
No error messages at all.
Weird!!

hey, just to keep you updated - there is now a fix available for firefox 25, which should address the particular problem of pages not loading unless the mouse is moved.
you can either choose between switching back to the firefox 25 release (the download link is at ) or stay with the beta version - the latter option has the advantage of receiving new features weeks before they are landing in the regular Firefox versions and being able to sound an early alarm in case such serious regressions are occurring, so there is enough time fixing problems ahead of a general release and minimize the general impact.

Firefox will stop operating unless I continue to move the mouse.

Hello<!-- XXX you may wish to edit this greeting, and other parts of the response so that it is personalised to the question asked.-->,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

• I've never had so many crashes in one day. Each time I restart, I hardly do anything, just move the mouse, and Firefox crashes. I've sent a report each time.

everything is updated including adobe flash player. Yet since the last update, it keeps crashing for no reason. I just move the mouse or scroll down and it crashes and closes. I am on windows 8. I do not download apps. Explorer seems to work fine. I prefer to use Firefox but can't complete anything I start because it appears to be in crash mode. How do I stop this?

While this is still in research, it seems to be a Windows 8-specific problem between Firefox 19 and a common graphics card/driver. Roll back to Firefox 18.0.2 here:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/18.0.2/win32/en-US/
You can install Firefox 18.0.2 over your Firefox 19 installation. It's not a bad idea, however, to back up your personal settings first. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

• Firefox won't load pages or process anything UNLESS the mouse is moving!

Ever since the latest Firefox upgrade (Firefox 4 I believe), my pages will not load unless the mouse is moving! It's very strange, but the moment I stop the mouse the progress of loading freezes, and the moment I move it again it will resume and continue for as long as the mouse is moving.
I've never experienced anything like this before. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and that looked like it solved the problem, but then it came back a few hours later. It makes watching any videos impossible, or sometimes will keep playing the sound but freeze the video image until I move the mouse and the image catches up with where the sound is at. Every page I'm on I have to keep the mouse scrolling around in a freaking circle just to keep it from freezing!
I'm so disappointed as Firefox used to be perfect to me. Is there any solution to this out there? (or am I better off with Chrome...)

So after months of this ridiculous problem not improving after endless cache clears, reboots, safe modes, extension deactivations, re-downloads, and anything else I could think of, I lost my patience and switched to Chrome for good. This is the only effective and lasting solution I have personally found.

Hello darkhawk,
Thank you for the recommendation.  I somewhat understand what a MS DOS disk is, but I'm not sure how to go about creating one. I've seen where you can use a program, like Rufus, to create a usb one  - but I'm leery about using 3rd-party programs (especially ones I'm not familiar with). I've come across a couple of 'how-to' tuts, but they didn't clarify what files (if any) I would need to include on the disk (for my particular situation). Right now I don't have any blank cds, nor any extra flash/thumb drives - wish I did, but hadn't needed these for years. There has only been one other time where I needed to re-install Windows, but that was over 15 years ago - I did it through BIOS, reformatting my drives, and then reinstalled via the Windows XP disk. Windows 8 is an entirely different breed, which has left me feeling a bit stumped, at times. If there was a way I could perform it (successfully), similar to the first time I did it years ago, I'd give it a try - but at the same time, I'm a bit reluctant, because if it doesn't work, then I'm stuck without any internet access to get further help.
Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.
http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
Also very useful for sorting out virus's as long as it's downloaded and made on another PC that is virus free......

• Wait cursor appears only the first time... unless I don't move the mouse!

Ah yes, another cursor problem:
I am setting a wait cursor in my main JFrame when a key-release or a menu item click is detected (the time-consuming action is then triggered in a child JInternalFrame), and so far, it's been working great.
Then I noticed that the wait cursor only appears the first time the time-consuming action is called (or more precisely, if I never move the mouse, it happens every time as it should, but if I move the mouse, it only happens the first time! Ah, and I noticed I CAN move the mouse but ONLY when it is in the form of the wait cursor!).
Strangely, I can see the cursor blink briefly when the action is done, precisely when it should be changing back to the default cursor... what gives? If I close the child internal frame and re-open it, I can get the wait cursor again the first time only (again, unless I keep the mouse still, in which case it works great - argh).
Any ideas would be deeply appreciated!
Cheers!
PS - Here's a snippet of how we set the cursor, this is code in our main JFrame, called via either a keypress event or clicking on a menu item - mostly it's stuff that is unrelated, and we simply set the wait cursor as the very first line, so why in the world would it skip that line???? (the rest of the lines do in fact get executed):
private void refreshMenuItemActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {     doRefreshMenuItemAction(); }
private void doRefreshMenuItemAction() {
this.setCursor(new Cursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR));
JDesktopPane desktop = (JDesktopPane)this.getContentPane().getComponent(0);
JInternalFrame activeFrame = desktop.getSelectedFrame();
try {
if ( activeFrame instanceof IDataDrivenForm ) {
((IDataDrivenForm)activeFrame).refresh();
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
this.setCursor(new Cursor(Cursor.DEFAULT_CURSOR));

almost...
I now see that glasspanes are an answer to that question. I got it to work (almost) using a glasspane (see code snippet below). But what I can't quite grasp now is why this code does not work when I call it from a child (contained) dialog (and possibly internal frames as well)??? When I do so, the dialog freezes (the button I pressed doesn't even release) and the cursor does not change to waiting. This time I'm really not sure where to go next....
I appreciate anyone who has read this far, and would really be indebted to you for some good advice!
PS - Here's the nifty code, placed in my main JFrame class. I just substituted "this.setBusy(true);" for every place I was manually setting the WAIT_CURSOR in the past (and of course with matching setBusy(false)):
public final void setBusy(boolean isBusy)
Component glassPane = this.getGlassPane();
Cursor theCursor = isBusy ? Cursor.getPredefinedCursor( Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR ) : Cursor.getPredefinedCursor( Cursor.DEFAULT_CURSOR );
this.setCursor( theCursor );
glassPane.setCursor( theCursor );
glassPane.setVisible( isBusy );

How do I get the sync of my 3GS on my computer to transfer everything (files, apps, etc.) to my new iphone4?  And then how do I move the sync to a newer computer so I can sync the new phone with the new computer?
My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer.  I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting.  Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc.  That's not the issue.  It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.
Thanks.

Thanks much, that's very helpful for step one (getting old phone onto new phone).  Very clear.
However, I still have the problem of moving to the new computer.  How do I move the sync to the new computer after the new phone is set up?

• Drawning text/images in a JPanel and then resizing/moving it with the mouse

Hello ebverybody!
I need to be able to draw some text objects in a JPanel and then resize/move it with the mouse... How could I do that!? Same for some images loaded from jpg files...
Should I just paint the text and then repaint when the mouse selects it? How to do this selection?! Or should use something like a jLabel and then change it`s font metrics?!
I need to keep track of the upper left corner of the text/image, as well as the width/height of it. This will be recorded in a file.
The text/images need to smoothly move around the panel as the mouse drags when selectin an entity.. not just "click the entity, then click another point and the entity appears there as if by magic...":)
Please, tell the best way to do that!
Thanks everybody!

I know what you mean! This happened to me as well!
And one thing that I found useful is, if you want to directly select a layer without selecting from the layers pallete and without having autoselect enabled, just hold Ctrl and click on in directly in the image. This saved me a lot of time!

• Firefox loads pages so that I have to move the blue slider over to view the entire page, why won't it load the page to fit my screen properly?

If I go to a textual forum, only the first two-thirds of each line is displayed, I have to move the slider to see the right hand end of each sentence.
If I go to an image oriented page such as YouTube, the image is loaded so that I see mainly the left most portions of it very large and have to move that blue slider at the bottom of the screen to the right to see the rest of the page.

Hello ,
when suddenly one site is very big or very small, resetting the Firefox page zoom can help.
You have two options:
Go to View > Zoom > Reset or press the shortcut Ctrl+0
This should fix it!

• Firefox (27 beta) freezes unless I move the mouse

I've had this problem before, some time in November, with Firefox 25. As suggested here
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=933733
I switched to 26 beta mid November and that solved the problem for me.
Today, Firefox updated again, to 27. (I am still on the beta update channel.) Now I have the same problem again.
I think I'll try going back to the normal version, see if that fixes it. But it seems strange that it is a recurring problem that skipped the 26 beta.

Hi chg2013,
For now you should use the standard Release Channel that is currently <s>Fx 25.0.1</s>Fx26.
As you can see from the bug you looked at this issue is something that is still receiving attention. A changes were made to the Release and a point release made: Fx25.0.1<br />That had a specific change included () that it is hoped will fix most of these problems. As mentioned in the release notes.
* https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/25.0.1/releasenotes/
We are aware that Beta 27 has problems at present with this bug. There was a request to fix Beta 27, but such requests are not always approved.
Please try <s>25.0.1</s> 26 (from) and confirm it works ?
As someone reading bugs and trying different Firefox channels presumably you are aware that multiple Firefox versions may be installed, but it is then wise to use multiple profiles see
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Testing_pre-release_versions
We were tracking[/forums/contributors/709723 *] threads with this issue, but there seems no need of this as long as Fx25.0.1 & Fx <s>is</s>are' working, and most users will now be using them.
