Firefox application starts IE instead, can't open Firefox in anyway! Reinstalation does not work.

Today I was browsing regular wallpaper webistes, and suddently my Firefox crashed, and opened IE to its home page. After this, in every way I tried to execute Firefox, I got IE opened instead. I ran a full virus scan, got some trojans wiped out, but the problem continued. Tried restarting, and finally reinstalling FF, but none of it worked. Never seen anything like this, anyone knows how to fix this?

You can also check if Firefox is still installed.

The problem here is that people are experiencing interrmittant failures on the same internet connection. For example, with iWeb 1.1.1, I'm successful about 20% of the time. After four or five tries, one try will magically "work".
If an ISP or Firewall were to blame because they weren't supporting HTTP extenstions, then it stands to logic that publishing would NEVER work because the ISP/Firewall/Proxy would ALWAYS block the said connection.
As for it being a bad thing, it seems from reviewing the threads on this forum that this has been an ongoing problem for a long time. Apple has gone forward with these protocol extensions that Uber discovered, and it is unlikely that they will "go back". Which means that as long as ISPs/Proxies block this stuff, most people will be screwed.
If Uber's analysis is correct, then the only correct solution would be for Apple to use "known" methods only of doing uploading... publishing XML and graphic images via the POST method, for example... which would require retrofitting iWeb and dotMac.
I was excited about my dotMac membership... but $180/year for this? I can't stand Microsoft, but at least FrontPage can publish.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Ow, that's a bad one, good catch.
As a workaround the 'gutter blue arrow' hyperlinks DO work.
Once I DO manage to get the body open, the button works for me without fail, even after an application restart. And I'm able to open other package bodies. So I can reproduce this bug once, but only once.

Its possible that the server can be down now. Have you ever used it before? If you want, try resseting the phone by just holding the sleep/wake key and the home button together for 10 seconds. Then wait 5 seconds when it turns off and press the sleep/wake button to turn it back on. Then try it again. Let me know what the results are.

[BUG] "Open declaration" in some cases does not work

Updated Firefox, now it crashes when opening certain web pages. Does not work in safe mode either.

I was using Nuance PDF Professional, but have changed it to updated Adobe to try and correct the problem - no luck. Update Flash - still no luck. Tried a couple other fixes from support - still no luck. I can not even use the support site because it crashes when I select a problem to investigate. Using IE and all is fine.

Can't instal Firefox - the page says The Proxy is Refusing Connections. Try Again does not work.

I have tried to instal Firefox on my PC but the first page that opens just says :
The Proxy Server is Refusing Connections.
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

- Contact your network administratorto make sure the proxy server is working
Try Again ( button ) does not work.
I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it twice more but it gives me this page every time I try to run it.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"

Firefox insists on downloading a zip file with an application. Options is set to ask for download loaction but does not work

When downloading a ZIP file I get a 'Launch Application' window.
In Options I have set download to ask for a location and use the download window but this does not work.
cannot find any way of changing this and there is no option for using an application.
If I down load in IE I have no problems so it must be FireFox and not a system problem.

I have found the problem.
A download manager had been installed for a specific website and it was butting in all the time. Even after removing it with 'Add or remove software' it still had its hooks into the system and it was impossible to download anything as it now would not run.
Had to do an XP 'System restore' before I could get rid of it.
The offending program was MD_setup.exe size 3,045KB from the themediadownloader.com

Having start up problems, keyboard light and loudness adjustment via keyboard does not work

Often if I start my MacBookPro 13" with Lion it starts up and is than blocked. I can not open the finder nor starting any programm. The turning wheel never stops and I have to restart the book by pressing the on/off button for a long time. Sometimes I need to do that several times till it runs stable.
During this week I experienced in addition that the keyboard light is not working anymore and also the loudspeaker adjustment does not work via keybaord. Only via menu bar.
Any idea what's going on with my book?

I can only open up one window with multiple tabs; right click "open in a new window" does not work. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled Firefox with same results.

Just bought a new i5 laptop and am transferring files, etc onto new box. Last night I had two separate Firefox windows up. I downloaded Nexus Ultimate late and rebooted this morning. I had to restart Firefox then, and it did not save my settings/tabs as I prompted it to do when it shut down to reboot.
I uninstalled Nexus and wasted many hours trying to resolve this, including two failed system restores (looks like Nexus is a dirty little bugger) Windows Explorer will open up multiple windows. Firefox will not. Help.

Have you tried: click Firefox button > New Tab > New Window '''''OR''''' CTRL+N '''''OR''''' File > New Window (if using the Menu Bar)
Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.
