Firefox based browsers crash randomly, more often with Facebook and Youtube

Ok, this problem is driving me nuts.
Firefox appears to crash at semi-random times while browsing.
It seems to happen more frequently when accessing Facebook or Youtube. Most of the time it will crash as soon as I put log in details into Facebook, as soon as my page starts to load it will crash. With Youtube, it will crash as Youtube's homepage is loading.
But then sometimes I can use facebook or youtube happily for upwards of 10 minutes before a crash, furthermore, it crashes on other 'simple' websites that don't have any embedded videos, Java or Flash based stuff.
I've tried several different versions of Firefox (as well as Waterfox and Cometbird), tried running in safemode, have reinstalled multiple times, have updated Java, running latest C++ Redist., latest Flash player, Windows fully up to date, same for my graphics drivers, even flipping Silverlight. FWIW this is also a fresh install of Windows. As in, only a day or two old with nothing funky installed on it, just a few games, AV, iTunes etc.
System is otherwise stable. No overclocking, temps are fine.
Opera and Internet Explorer both work smooth as butter, but I don't want Opera or IE. I want my Firefox back!

just got the notification about FF 3.6.8 installed it, reinstalled flash just for paranoia's sake
problem still occurring. please help.

    You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
    *disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
    *disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
    *disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • I have problems synchronizing my iPhone 5 contacts with Facebook and Gmail. What is the way to do it?

    When I synchronize my iPhone 5 with Facebook and Gmail, contacts changes. How should I do that synchronization?

    Google contact sync is set up through Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > and inside that setting somehwere is something that says Contacts. Make sure that switch is ON. Same for Facebook. In settings > Facebook is an item that says Contacts. Make sure it is ON.

  • Firefox 6.02 crashes randomly

    Firefox 6.02 crashes or just disappears/closes randomly all the time after it is open for a while. It crashes randomly at any website. Firefox also never generates any crash reports after it crashes or disappears even though I have the option to generate crash reports turned on which is very frustrating. I performed virus and spyware scanning on my pc and never had any issues found. I also checked to see if I had the latest plugins and add-on's. I had this same random crashing problem with the 6.0 and 6.01 versions also.

    Malware does evolve, as do the countermeasures, it is worth trying more than one site/product to scan your machine, and considering asking questions on one of the specialist forums. Always of course try to scan with up-to-date software.
    The link I posted earlier mentioning breakpad may help you determine whether Firefox did actually crash, and whether or not a crash report was submitted, the list of links in ''about:crashes'' are prefixed ''bp-'' if a crash report was submitted, and if you click the links Firefox will attempt to submit them. Your OS should also attempt to log crashes.
    Are you still ok if you use Firefox in safe mode with all plugins disabled, if so that tends to indicate problems are caused by hardware acceleration or some plugin or other software extension to Firefox.
    I know it is of no help to you to say Firefox including Firefox 6 works ok on my XP, but that does help to confirm the problem may not be an intrinsic problem in Firefox. Also although there are quite a few reports of hangs and crashes that is always likely to happen when there is a userbase of 100s of millions. Firefox is highly customisable, that is often seen as an advantage, but the downside is there are all sorts of possible combinations of additional factors needing to be taken into account when troubleshooting, and the reason for suggesting
    * update all plugins and extensions
    * update firefox itself
    * try in safe mode
    * disable or uninstall all plugins
    * consider trying a beta, aurora, or even nightly channel to see if any recent changes to Firefox have resolved issues.

  • Firefox CLOSES (no crash message) when websites with streaming video are loaded.

    Before it is suggested, I have fully updated the browser, and updating flash more times than I can count. In addition, this has been going on through many firefox updates, so it is not limited to just the recent update.
    I run Firefox on OSX Tiger, and for about a year now firefox has about a 50% chance of randomly closing whenever I view a website that has streaming video content. Some examples are ESPN, Hulu, MLB.tv and YouTube.
    It is NOT an official crash though. No crash reports are registered, no error messages are given, Firefox simply closes completely with not so much as a "terminal error" pop-up. I usually have to watch content from sites that use steaming content on Safari just because Firefox is so unstable on my system when loading ANY video content.
    This issue is NOT limited to flash, as Firefox will do the same thing with non-flash video with pretty much the same regularity.
    PLEASE don't just tell me to update again, I've done that countless times for each and every update of Firefox in the last year. It has NEVER worked. Although I'm 95% sure that flash is installed fine, because I never have any problems with it on Safari.
    Thank you for any help you can give me.

  • Firefox Flash plugin crashes when FF launched with "Run as different user"

    I often start Firefox in Windows 7 (x64) using the "Run as different user" mechanism. After upgrading my Flash plugin to v11 (11.8.800.94), the browser will hang for several minutes when visiting any page that contains Flash content. When Firefox becomes responsive again, scrolling a page with Flash content will cause the app to hang again. Disabling the Flash plugin eliminates the problem.
    It seems the plugin is silently crashing -- I'm not alerted to a plugin crash in any way (no dialog or yellow "Flash player crashed" notice at the top of the window), but after FF hangs I will see a new crash report entry in the FF about:crashes list. An example crash report is available at https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ff452291-b5b2-44e4-a172-416792130818
    The plugin does not crash when Firefox is running under the same account that is logged onto Windows interactively -- only when running FF as a different user. For example, if I log onto Windows with user account Adam and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist. If I close FF and launch it as user Bob (shift+right-click Firefox Shortcut, choose "Run as different user"), the problem will appear. However, if I log into Windows as user Bob and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist.
    I have tried the following as troubleshooting steps, all to no effect:
    Create new Windows user accounts to rule out potential Windows or Firefox profile issues.
    Use another PC (also Windows 7 x64). The same behavior occurs on both PCs
    Disable AVG antivirus.
    Upgrade Firefox to latest version (23.0.1).
    Disable Flash hardware acceleration.
    Give both user accounts full local admin privileges.
    Can anyone suggest something to try next?
    Update: Per the troubleshooting instructions at < http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 >, I was able to eliminate the problem by adding the line
    ProtectedMode=0
    to my C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg file to disable Flash Player Protected Mode. There are instructions on that page for submitting a Protected Mode-related bug, and I will follow through with that.

    Maybe you did't understand my previous statement. There are no crashes in FF 3.6, There is no previous evidence FF 14 was ever here, I completely uninstalled all trace of Firefox, no app data, no preferences, no cache. I will upgrade to FF14 so I can send IDs,
    so here ya go.

  • Firefox has been crashing randomly for the past ten or so hours for me.

    When I got home from work I installed the latest Flash update when it popped up on my desktop. I watched a few videos on YouTube and Twitch and when I attempted to stream a video I started having the issue. At first I thought it was Flash or video related so I stopped using those for a bit. Then it happened on Facebook and several other sites. I've run in safe mode, turned off hardware acceleration. Filed numerous reports via the crash box. When that comes up I can't get any details on the crash and when I go to the about:crashes it mentions TlsGetValue in the signature for the crashes, starting around 9:49 pm central. Please help as this is getting extremely annoying.

    Thank you for the input madperson, hopefully this will work and I can update back when the situation is fixed.
