Firefox becomes completely unresponsive after loading Bejeweled Blitz on FaceBook.

It is the only place it has occurred. I like to play and so does wifey. '''Sometimes''' the game will load (without hanging) and as soon as you click on anything within the game box (except the spin button) it freezes and hangs. It doesn't report it to Mozilla that I am aware of and the only generated report is to Microsoft.
I am running Win7 64-bit, Firefox 3.6.10 with full updated plug-ins.
The only thing I have found that will "sorta" get around this is defining the 'dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs' in the about:config down to -1. I don't know what this will do with other sites and its still not a real fix for this problem, as it seems to repeat after a reload of the page.
I have tried a reinstall of Firefox; scanned computer for viruses; tried the troubleshooting suggestions; turned off all of my extensions.
This problem only occurs when loading Bejeweled Blitz on FaceBook, and nowhere else that I have experienced so far.

You know what? I finally figured it out. I got an error message about AutoPager. I disabled it and the problem went away.
I would like to know though, how did it happen? I have had AutoPager longer than I have been playing Bejeweled Blitz.
The error message said something about a script not loading properly on the page. If you took the time to read this, thanks for your attention, and sorry to have wasted anyone's time.
It figures, I have a problem with it for a few weeks now and as soon as I ask about it, I find a solution. What a crock.

I'm not able to close and restart Firefox at all, since the computer becomes completely unresponsive, save for mouse input. Task Manager is also of no use.

  • Everytime I open Firefox it functions for a matter of seconds before freezing and becoming completely unresponsive, what can be done about this?

After freezing up today(which it has done from time to time before), Firefox has now become completely unresponsive. I have repeatedly attempted to restart it but the program will freeze up almost immeadiately every time, each time requiring a close via the task manager.
Nothing has changed since last night except for this unresponsivness. I just tried uninstalling my older version and downloading the current version but the problem has persisted. What else can I try?

I have the same problem on two Windows 7 x64 installations.
    Firefox 4.0.1
    Addons in common: Firebug
Firefox does not crash, it just becomes unresponsive, but the moment it becomes responsive again (couple seconds to 15 seconds or more,) it will just become unresponsive again. There is next to no CPU usage and there is nothing running in the background that could possible slow it down. I also notice that FF momentarily will stop responding for around 1/2 to 1 second. Then continue to be fine. I'm finding that Chrome is acting up as well but IE is working fine. I also found that Google.com seems to exacerbate the problem.

  • Everytime I put my Mac Mini to Sleep, Finder becomes completely unresponsive.  How do i fix this?

    Hi,
Everytime I put my Mac Mini to Sleep, Finder becomes completely unresponsive.  I've tried several Terminal commands to kill/quit/relaunch it, but nothing seems to work.  Once my Mac has been put to sleep there is nothing I can do to get it back after I have woken it up.  I always have to restart my computer, and even then, I have to hold the power button to shut it down because it will never fully shut down from the restart.  I have a feeling that Finder is still running in the background and not allowing the mac to shut down.  I'd rather not have to reinstall my OS.  Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Hi Andrew, what all is connected USB wise?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for Sleep/Wake problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Why does my 2012 Retina Macbook Pro's trackpad become extremely unresponsive after I plug in a USB mouse? The only trackpad command that works is the left click, I can't select text or press down and hold the trackpad to do anything else until I restart.

My trackpad becomes REALLY unresponsive after I plug in a USB mouse. It seems like the cursor is broken and stuck on a permanent left click or something. I'm unable to select text or do any other sort of action that requires you to hold down the trackpad and drag. Mouse icons don't update as I scroll over different text and links. The trackpad is usually stuck in this unresponsive state until I restart my macbook which is extremely inconvenient if I have to do this after every time I use a USB mouse. Are there any fixes to this?

    Melophage,
I don't leave it outside. Usually when I leave it overnight, I do so under the same conditions as when I leave it plugged in, and this morning I only left it for about an hour in my house and it did the same thing.
    LowLuster,
I actually have a new hard drive I bought a while back and have been meaning to switch it out with the one that's in there now. I'll follow your instruction, then make the switch I had planned on and report back.

  • Images aren't completely visible after loading in Photoshop CS6

I've been using CS3.  Without un-installing CS3, I installed CS6 . . . actually both 64bit & 32bit.  I had several problems when running.  For example, images often were not completely visible after loading . . . part of the image showed as transparent.  I could duplicate the layer & all was ok, with both the new & original layers.  This hasn't been a major problem, but is a nuisance & indicates that something is not right.  Several features even cause "Photoshop CS6 has stopped working".  Thankfully, I could always fall back to CS3 when a problem cropped up, altho' it was a pain having to save so often.
I deactivated CS6 and uninstalled (via Control Panel).  I then re-installed, installed updates & re-activated . . . same problem when images load.  I just re-installed, so I haven't had a chance to test other things.
I've postponed installing Lightroom4, hoping to solve CS6 problems first.
    Any suggestions?

I downloaded & installed Nvidia GeForce G210 driver.  Started CS6 . . . opened several JPG images . . . each was completely visible after loading.  That sometimes happened before, so I'm not completely sure it's fixed . . . time will tell.
Now I have another (different problem) . . . The Type tool will not work.  I get "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialized."
For what it's worth . . . each time I clicked to make the above Bold & italics  I got a Windows Internet Explorer message "Are you sure you want to leave this page?"
EDIT . . . I rebooted (again) & everything seems to be working . . . EXCEPT the Windows Internet Explorer message "Are you sure you want to leave this page?"

  • Firefox UI becomes completely unresponsive in debugging mode.

I'm using Firefox for web development, and set breakpoints with the `debugger` keyword, or the breakpoint UI in the "Debugger" section of the "Web Developer" tools. I remember that used to work on older versions, but recently it started failing.
Now, when I enter debugging mode (i.e. hit a breakpoint), the debugger UI shows, but it is completely unresponsive: the mouse cursor doesn't change when I hover over any widget, and clicking does nothing.
The only way to get any response is CTRL-r refresh which *sometimes* works, as well as closing the entire Firefox window. Of course, that means I can't actually use it to debug.
I'm on Xubuntu 13.10, running latest stable 64bit Firefox (3.1.1). I also verified the exact same bug on the nightly binary release (firefox-36.0a1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2) as well as the recently released Developer Edition (firefox-35.0a2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2).

    HI dunpealer,
Please do file a bug on this and make sure to put version 35 and os linux on bugzilla.mozilla.org.
I am sorry it took so long to get back to you, I also can reproduce this. If you have any questions about bugzilla we are happy to help here as well.
    Thank you!

  • IPhone 4 becoming completely unresponsive for no obvious reason.

My iPhone had been charging overnight with no previous problems ever encountered since i first bought it just over two months ago.
After checking the time on it (apparently working fine), i got up half an hour later putting the iPhone in my pocket.
WHen i next checked it, it had become totally unresponsive and seemed to have completely died.
It had definitely been fully charged and plugging it in to a charger has no response.
Plugging into a computer also has no response.
Attempting to reset by holding down sleep+home for ten seconds also carries no response.
Very frustrating and and i would be very grateful for any help recieved

Ochman, the same issue happened to me, simply hold down both the home and power buttons for 10 seconds then release the power button while still pressing on the home button. The apple logo should pop on screen and the phone should start loading again.

  • Firefox become not responsive after every 10 minutes for few seconds, and it back again.

Firefox 4 become not responding after every few minutes ( mainly 10 minutes). And it came back to its normal state within 10-15 seconds. I reinstall windows and Firefox, but same problem occur. On using chrome 11 and IE 9 I have no problem. I also check that there is no problem on using Firefox 3.
I mainly use Firefox for my web browsing, but due to Firefox 4 I totally disappointed. What should I do for now?

You have an add-on installed called Internet Download Manager. It's on Mozilla's Add-on Blocklist @ https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/ at the foot of the page.
Uninstall it by clicking the orange Firefox button, go to Add-ons and then remove it in the Extensions menu.
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your other add-ons is the culprit.

  • After I update to firefox 4.0 it wont load any of my facebook games. And I don't know how to fix it. Please help Internet Explorer sucks!

I updated to firefox 4.0 and it wont load any of my facebook games.

Facebook games are usually Flash based.<br />
Your More system details list show that you have the Flash plugin, so that should be working.<br />
Make sure that you do not block Flash.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Firefox becomes very sluggish after several hours of usage

In the past 2 weeks, after several hours of use, firefox becomes very sluggish. Cannot switch tabs easily. Cannot type emails easily, etc. If reboot computer, works fine at first, but again, after several hours, becomes sluggish again. This happens to both my computers which are on a network. A technician suggested a virus, but have not seen any virus messages. Use AVG 2013 virus software.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
    See:
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Firewalls
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Why had iTunes become completely unresponsive?

Over the past few months itunes has become increasingly unresponsive, I now hate the those spinning colours.  I have a large movie and music library stored on an external hard drive (WD 1.5 TB) and I have used just over half its capacity and it connects to a desktop Mac 5 (bought in 2009 I think?).  Every action is met with the spinning colours, scrolling a library to pick movies to download to my iphone 4s can take 30 minutes and syncing a movie to the phone takes over an hour.  The final straw has been IOS7 which I installed yesterday.  Every item I try to sync to the phone fails.  I don't use the cloud as I haven't got my head round why it works for me (I get how it works in general terms)
I'm sure there's an easy fix or theres a capacity issue but right now I'm soo out of love with all Apple products I feel like scrapping the lots and starting again with a PC and Android.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to speed things up,  this feels like I have a ZX Spectrum and I'm back in the 80's
    Thanks

  • OS keyboard and mouse completely unresponsive after 10.6.1 update.

    Hello,
Snow Leopard was running fine. I updated to 10.6.1 and now the computer boots up normally (background programs seem to be running fine) but the keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive. I am even unable to dim the screen, change the volume etc etc. I was able to go into safe mode but then keyboard and mouse again are unresponsive.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

I had something very similar happen. I shut the lid on my MacBook. When I opened it up, I tried to type in my password (I have it password protected when it sleeps) and none of the keystrokes did anything. I had to hit the power-off button to cold boot the computer.

  • After being open for a while (with several tabs) Firefox becomes generally unresponsive and stops playing sound - videos will still play, but no sound.

This problem has only begun happening recently. I commonly keep my Firefox open overnight with websites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs including but not limited to Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube. Sometimes, after several hours/days of not restarting Firefox or my computer, Firefox begins to become unresponsive - that is to say, pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser, and videos will take up to 30 seconds to begin playing. In addition to this, sound will stop playing; if I begin a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive loading, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, websites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, will stop making sound.
Note that this is different from a flash plugin crash - when flash crashes, both audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; if I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens again the same way until I restart my computer completely.
Also of note: I have had, in the past, this same thing happen but rainymood.com continued playing, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I'm not sure where to begin. Also, sometimes this is only a Firefox-specific problem, meaning other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my entire computer stop making sounds, except for Ventrilo, which works but is also unresponsive at first.

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
