Firefox blocks popup even when website is allowed. How to fix?

On my banking web page, when I move from the account balance page to the bill pay page (still using the same web address) Firefox blocks the move even though I have this web site set up in my exceptions for pop up blocking. The same thing happens when I try to go back to the accounts page from the bill pay page. I do not have the problem with any other financial web site that I use.

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Load images automatically 2) Enable JavaScript
-> Remove Checkmark from Block Pop-up windows -> click Exceptions... button -> type the address of the website on which you want to Allow Pop-up windows to appear e.g. www.google.com -> click Allow -> click OK
-> Click OK on Options window

I had to reset Firefox and it works fine now with one exception: It blocks popups even though I don't want it to. I have unchecked the box in Options that relates to blocking popups. I have rebooted several times all to no avail. Practically every web site I seek is blocked until I hit the "allow" button that appears when I try to open the site. I can't find anything in the tech docs to answer this question and don't know where else to look.

Once I had the problem that firefox was opening the pop-up windows even when I didn't want them to be opened. Well I don't know how I corrected the problem. I think you should try to reset your settings and then try again.

*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

Strangely enough even though I had gotten the " Install failed....Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer....The install could not copy the necessary support files" I had left it on the screen and left the room for awhile. I walked back into my computer room a few minutes ago and the window on the screen stated that the SL OS 10.6.4 had successfully installed. I am now very carefully checking things out to make sure the fonts are where they should be. With the exception of some updating it appears all may be well.
PS. Below is a note I was writing to Kurt (also assisting me) to try and detail what had happened. Added it in case it could be of any value to you

Thank you for response. following is series of events to my best recollection.
I would typically not have been this stupid/ignorant but was doing this in a hurry with someone asking me questions...wasn't paying attn. to what I was doing
• downloaded new fonts
• opened downloaded fonts, clicked font icons to open and install them.
• typed "fonts" in spotlight (with the intention of moving new fonts into font folder)The Spotlight results window revealed 5 or 6 font folders. I ignorantly started to try a clean up by installing all fonts into a single folder (not thinking about system fonts)
Sometimes when you are moving a folder the window you moved it from will jump around..well this occurred and I mistakenly released the folder on the desk top. This caused a copy to be made. After some investigation I realized it was a copy of the required system fonts that were still located in the original "spotlight results" window.
• I attempted to delete the copy..when I did an administrator password box appeared I entered the password and the result was both system font folders were deleted (the original & the desk top copy I erroneously made)
• Now windows open but are blank with sometimes faded mini sized icons. If I click one of the mini icons i get a new blank window. I am unable to give any instruction, have total blank menus, dialog boxes, etc.

Why does firefox update itself even when i tell it not to? Everytime it updates itself it messes up and crashes, make it stop. I like firefox but if I keep having to unistall and reinstall it ever month to every other month I am going to be done with it

Fire Fox updates itself even after I tell it not to. The new version it updates to crashes, adobe flash player doesn't work on it and it takes forever to load when it does work. I have used fire fox for years now but if this keeps up I will find something else to use.

I also have this problem of Firefox updating by itself even when I turn off auto-update.
For whatever reason, there are situations where you do not want to update or download a large file, because you're working offline, have a slow connection, or have a very low download allowance etc. Usually the update doesn't work and cause Firefox to crash. After that it cannot be started again. This is with Firefox Portable but I think I've had this problem the normal Firefox. With the portable version I can just back up a single folder but it is still time wasting and annoying.
I've noticed that when I start Firefox with auto-update turned off, it changes the options to auto-update, it also does this periodically. So every time I start Firefox I have to turn off auto-update, and I have to do this from to time because Firefox will by itself turn back on the auto-update.

Yes, someone stole my original apple id in 2009. Now i bought another iphone in late 2012 , Created another apple id due to Apple not being able to help me access my original apple id. Which now since 2 months ago someone or company, or bank stole my second apple id. My iphone 4s with Sprint has no celluar connection supossedly due to no internet that is what sprint said but I looked it up on apple and it stated that there is a cellluar block on my iphone4s.
So I guess I will have to go in person to Sprint so they can explain that to me and why I was lied to on the phone earlier. Back to my 2nd stolen apple id that I registered my macbook,airport express router, and iphone4s and apple TV. So who ever stole this apple id obviously took over all my mac products I had registered to it. Enough about that back to trying to use time machine....Everytime i do, my macbook just starts acting all screwed up. I bought a WD external drive for Mac but I believe someone must have claimed it too. Since there is 75gb on it that I can't access. Kind of like my Macbook stating I can't save or have access to the Root . That is another thing after reinstalling snow lepoard which works great until I update it. Which is a problem because everytime I update it to 10.6.8 All the permissions are changed the graphics look horrible and I get redirected so bad its not funny. The email account is a joke. Also I notice my stationary for email is in Spanish not sure why and on Iworks the document samples are also in spanish. Now I dont speak any other language except ENGLISH AND HAVE LIVED IN UNITEDSTATES MY ENTIRE LIFE. But my internet provider Fibrant which swears they are local shows it is in the UK also when i try to access my email for that account it states it is not safe , certificate is expired and someone might be trying to impersonate my server. Needless to say it is getting old. I had this same problem with Timewarner and Att except att would just remove my ethernet driver then laugh when i would call and ask what the problem was. Then later I find out when I had DSL that somehow the phone number they had listed was change to being a digit off from my DSL account which again they laughed and thought it was funny. Enough about that. I need to know how to get access to my Apple id. I gave up on the first one but the second one I did have access to until I registered all my apple products. What is up with every thing I have with a usb port being corrupt. When I go to a website I'm interested in a ribbon comes up at the top of the screen telling me to "allow". But when I click this it disappears for a second and then comes right back asking again. I have to check the X in order to get it to go away and that doesn't always work. I've even "allowed" certain sites on the options pages but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

There may be a problem with malware if unrelated pop-ups are opening or you are redirected to unrequested websites.
Do a malware check with some malware scan programs.<br />

Will not allow popups even when listed as exception

I can't get firefox to allow any popups. I list site as an exception and still no pop ups. I need certain sites pop ups. An example would be a financial site.

Firefox blocks file downloads that other browsers allow and when scanned by trends micro anti-virus shows clean. how do I fix this?

firefox will block about 25% of files downloaded & I have yet to find a file type that WON'T be blocked & once blocked it is blocked every time.

That message most likely is generated by the Safe Browsing filter, which is a service based on site reputation data from Google. Something changed recently and this service is blocking many more sites.
Unlike the download block notice in Google Chrome, Firefox does not currently have a button to override the block. That is under consideration for a future version.
Currently, the only workaround for this is to temporarily turn off Safe Browsing, do the download, then turn it back on again. Or since you are using a Trend Micro product, you might already have protection against accessing untrustworthy websites in which case you could just turn it off. (Please check your product information.)
