[firefox] Bug in adress bar

Hello! I have a bug in firefox 10 http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6367/firef.png It happens, when I'm typing in adress bar. I'm using nvidia 295.20 driver. Does anybody else has this bug?

I have reproduced this bug with another system too:
- Ubuntu 12.04 (KDE installed after the basic install) (I did not find anything in Ubuntu forums...)
- KDE 4.8.2, now updated to 4.8.3 (the update didn't fix the bug)
- Several Qt and Gtk themes were tested, and all exhibit this behavior (Oxygen, Cleanlooks, Clearlooks, Clearlooks-Phenix, etc.)
- Using Nvidia proprietary driver (Nvidia GTS 250, default driver from Ubuntu repo)
- Firefox is now 13.01, but earlier versions used to behave the same.
- The bug does not occur in Xfce or Ubuntu's Unity.
And now something that was not mentioned in other posts, I hope this helps:
- Going to KDE Control Panel -> Desktop effects -> All effects (second tab) and DISabling the "Fade" effect (near the middle of the list, by Philip Falkner), makes this bug occur in *many* menus and windows, including native KDE menus, and including the taskbar previews!
I noticed that the autocomplete list in Firefox never fades in, even when the Fade plugin is active, so it looks related. It's just weird that the absence of a special effect causes this. If only I could find a way to make it fade in, everything would look OK :-)
Can someone send this info to KDE developers if it seems relevant? I don't have an account there...

Why freezes the Adress-Bar and the Search-Bar when I open a PDF in Firefox 4?

The Problem is, when I open a PDF in Firefox 4 (with the Adobe Reader 10 Plug-In) you cannot type anything in the adress-bar or in the Search-Bar! Also when i press the "back"-Button or open another Tab, the Adress-Bar and Search-Bar is frozen! When i press my Home Button and leave the PDF-Site it works fine again! Is this a problem of the Plug-In or a Firefox-Problem?

It seems to be a problem with Adobe Reader X Plug-in. Visit adobe.com to download and install Adobe Reader X (even if you already have it). I did this and it said "installing updated patch". Went back to Firefox to check and problem solved! :)
ps. did not need to disable any previous plug-in or even close Firefox.

Firefox 29 all kinds of buttons in adress bar

Since updating to Firefox 29 when I have short URLs in my adress bar, a long list of buttons appears next to the URL of the current page. How do I remove these? It's very annoying..

hello, the issue is likely caused by the ''rss icon 1.0.6'' extension that you have installed and is buggy in firefox 29...

When i open firefox and it brings me to my homepage, the page adress isnt in the adress bar.

EX: my homepage is Youtube.com and when i open firefox, it brings me to youtube but the adress bar says, "Go to a website", instead of the link of the page im on. it is VERY annoying and i really need the link because i actually do use it a lot!

You just need to update the setting under the Startup to not restore your previous session. Go to Tools - > Options - > General Tab. At the top it says 'When Firefox starts:' with a dropdown. Just select Show my homepage.

Ender not working in adress bar

adress bar does not work, neither with ender nor with mouse klik on right arrow

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Adress bar search uses a different engine depending on the amount of words entered

I've been trying to figure this one out for a bit... If I enter one word into the adress bar - gamespot for instance - it takes me to a bing.com search. As opposed to the gamespot.com site as it has always done up until a few hours ago. Now, at first I figured this was just a matter of firefox changing the default, so looked for a solution to this. The given solution in most cases is to change to change keyword.url - which I have done. It is set to the google url that according to most of the sites I checked is supposed to work. However, typing 'gamespot' still gives me a bing search (not a google search or the site in question).
But here's the kicker; if I type 'game spot' it takes me to the gamespot.com website. So I tried something else. 'facebook' vs. 'face book' - same thing. 'fastcars' - bing search, 'fast cars' - google search. 'firefox' - bing.com search, 'fire fox' - mozilla homepage... I take it you see what I mean by now...
I have no idea what is going on here. Seems a bit of an odd effect for any kind of malware - allthough I'm running a full scan as I type, just in case...

How to turn on the text suggestion in the adress bar?

Firefox doesn't give me any text suggestion when I type in the adress bar... It was working fine before the last update I believe...
How can I turn it back on?

Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing":

Adress bar search

I need help to change my search engine on the adress bar. The problem is : When i write a word to adress bar to search on web my mozilla firefox 4.0 browser finds it with ' Open Dns ' .. How can i change it to google or any other adress ??

If you are redirected to an Open DNS website then that means that you are using the Open DNS servers. Those servers do that by default if a DNS lookup fails and you will have to change to other DNS server if you want to change that behavior.

How do I change the order of sites when typing in the adress bar?

I usually type "go" in the adress bar if I want to go to google, then it automatically finishes and I just click enter after "go", but lately another site has taken the place so when I click enter I come to the wrong site. I have not searched for this site more than google. How can I decide which one will be the automatic one? It's really annoying!

I think you can remove suggestions from the address bar by arrowing down to the unwanted site on the auto-suggest drop-down list and pressing Delete.
Make sure to arrow to another site or edit the address before pressing Enter or using Go, because that deleted URL will still be the address bar.

I have imported bookmarks from Safari to Firefox but the bookmarks bar does not change in Firefox and match that of Safari. That's the part I need most. Any ideas why? Also, I don't see where to choose for Firefox to be my default browser.

I use a Imac with OS 10.6.7. I've just uploaded Firefox 4. I had Firefox 3 already but do not use it often. I've been using Safari. I imported bookmarks from Safari to Firefox, but the bookmarks bar in Firefox did not change to match that of Safari, and that's where the important bookmarks are. Any ideas?
Also, I can't find where to choose Firefox as my default browser.

Copy the files from the old Profile into the new Profile, replacing the existing files that are in the new Profile. That will make your new installation just like the old one.
Or if you just want your bookmarks, copy only the '''places.sqlite''' file from the old Profile into the new Profile.

Problem with 2009.02 torrents and firefox (firefox bug ?)

when i download any torrent files for 2009.02 with firefox (simply cliking on the link of the torrent), i end up with an empty file with 400 permission. (in /tmp)
i need to use "download link target here" to get a valid torrent file. (i even have to do it twice ??)
so i guess it's a bug in firefox ?
or something is wrong on the ftp site of archlinux ? why the torrent are not provided via http ?

Wow, that's weird. I just tried it and the links really don't seem to be working. It's not a Firefox bug, though. I'm sure because I downloaded the i686 Core ISO earlier today without a problem. Is the server the .torrents are hosted on down or something?
By the way, I have an unrelated question about seeding: I have no need for anything other than the i686 Core ISO, but should I download the other files just to seed? I have a really good upload speed, and I'd like to give back to the community any way I can.

If you cleared the history when you start typing another address it will look to what is stored in your Bookmarks. Could that be what you are seeing?

How to Hide adress of the form from adress bar

go in your <forms-home>forms\server - directory. there is formsweb.cfg.
All the [default] - parameters are global. If you don't set a parameter in your own section, then the fallback-parameters are stored there.
at the end of the file you should write your own settings:
e.g.
# myConfig - this is an example for your own Config-Section
[myconfig]
form=myStartForm
imageBase=codeBase
splashScreen=no
separateframe=true

HI all i am using oracle reports 10G....
now i want to ask that is there is way to hide the adress in the adress bar of internetexplorer
like

recently Firefox installed a search bar in line with my tabs. I don't want it and can't find how to get rid of it.

It seems to part of the add-ons. I was able to remove it by going to the add-ons in the Firefox menu, and taking to following steps:
Add-ons menu, Extensions, Default tab, Click "remove"
(I tried just disabling it, but it didn't seem to work, so I removed it.)
It should then ask if it's ok to restart and when it opens up again, the search box should be gone. Hope this helps, it worked for me.
