Firefox can't connect to any servers after updating my computer.

I have vista. When I read the help comments. They were for XP. I have no tool options/advanced tabs to click on that I can find. I have to access the internet through outlook. Also my Email has been giving me error messages. I hadn't used my computer in over 2 months so I had a lot of updates not just Firefox.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Safari can't connect to any servers or webpages

    Hi,
I have my internet running without issues. I use Firefox, and currently viewing this page and typing.
Also I can access an FTP server elsewhere in another country.
However when I open Safari, I can't seem to get on any websites with "Safari can't connect to the Server" no matter where I go.
I tried to go on Apple site to download Safari but only available version is the Snow Leopard.
Any idea how I can fix this problem?

Update your DNS to a known-good server, such as OpenDNS or Google DNS.
Reference Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage ... - Support - Apple for more information.
If using known-good DNS doesn't resolve the issue, turn off plugins and extensions in Safari. Check to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, then one of the plugins or extensions is causing the issue. Follow Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may ... - Support - Apple for more information.
If the issue is not resolved by addressing the DNS or add-ons, then start by emptying Safari caches. If that doesn't help, then reset Safari (note: you will lose auto fill contents, such as saved passwords, for example). If it still doesn't work, there are additional steps, but the DNS or add-ons are most likely the cause.

  • Can't connect to music store after updating itunes; ?connection refused?

Can someone from itunes please help. i mean ****. i guess u guys don't think of the people in ur forums that have problems. i have a problem accessing the music store. it says the network connection was refused. please check ur settings...blah blah blah. anyway the point is there are tons of people with this problem, no solutions, end of story. and lots of people have been having this problem right after updating their itunes. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? just tell us how to fix our music store. then maybe people would actually still use itunes instead of limewire.

The iTunes Music Store uses both HTTP Port 80 and 443. Make sure both are open in any firewall, and also make sure that the following domains are exempted in any firewall/filtering software:
    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
You might want to completely shut down any firewall temporarily, just to see if that makes a difference. If you can then connect, you know it's a problem with your firewall.
Another possibility is an erroneous entry in the Hosts file. This tip from Mark Holly resolved problem for another poster (please note that I have not tried this fix so I cannot vouch for nor support the suggestion: I provide it only as a suggestion that worked for someone else):
NOTE: this will change a Windows operating system file. This could cause you problems if not done correctly.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to the following folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
In this folder is file called 'hosts'. Open it using Wordpad.
On the poster's pc there was in this file one long line. At the end of this line was "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com:. phobos.apple.com is the web address for the music store. What "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com" is doing is telling the pc to look for the web address only on the computer rather than the internet. By remove this section of the line and saving the changes you may then be able to access the music store without any problems.
IMPORTANT: Before making the changes to the hosts file I highly recommend making a backup of it. That way you can restore the original if other problems occur.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPad can't connect to vodafone 3G after update

After updating to iOS5.1 from 5.0.1 my iPad can no longer connect to a vodafone 3g network.  It continually shows "No Service" or "Searching". Manually searching for a service provider only lists O2 or Orange - yet my iPhone right next to it will also list the vodafone connection.  The sim in the iPad works fine in the iPhone, and the working sim in the iPhone doesn't work in the iPad.  Since Apple will not allow a downgrade to 5.0.1 is there another fix for this "feature"!?

As long as Vodafone hasn't gone down.. I had similar messages when Telecom XT was off line for a few hours.
Try removing the sim card and then reseat it.
Otherwise it's probably a trip to the Vodafone store

  • Can't connect to Airport Express after updating software

I ran Software Update today on my Intel Mini which updated iTunes to 7.3 and apparently included a security patch that I did not take note of. Since then I cannot connect to my Airport Express which is hooked up to my stereo system. The AE works fine when I connect to it from a PC in my home. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestion Juan. I did a hard reset and reconfigured the AX. I was able to stream music to it from iTunes, but a few minutes later I noticed that my internet connection was stalled, as was my connection to email. So I rebooted the Mini and the internet and email are now working, but once again it won't connect to the Airport Express through iTunes...? It is almost as if it can no longer connect to the internet and stream music simultaneously. I don't know if it matters, but after the hard reset I set up the AX to "join my existing network", which is a Netgear wireless router. I assumed that the Mini's internet connection is thru the Netgear device, and by setting up the AX the way I did it would only be used for the stereo system. Should I have done something different?

  • Firefox will not bring up any webpages after updating to v3.6.7 and then 3.6.8

Everything ran well in v 3.6.6. Today it seemingly upgraded to v3.6.7 and then a Mozilla web page strongly suggested upgrading to v.3.6.8. I did. Sometime after this Norton 360 v3 found some bad files and quarantined them and needed a reboot. After that reboot no web pages would work in FF. I followed the Norton 360 connection thread and that did not help. I also received a new router yesterday, but v3.6.6 worked fine today and IE works now, so I doubt that the router is the reason. Right now I would be happy to revert to 3.6.6 or else uninstall and try from scratch. I have tried a few reboots, but they did not help.

We will try it this afternoon, after school is out. However, as I said, our problem is not limited to Firefox.
    Hmmm.
Firefox 4.0 and Safari 5.0.4 do not work.
Chrome and Omniweb both work, after 10 or 15 seconds.

  • I can't connect AppleTV to iTunes after updating to Lion

I updated to Lion today, along with all the iTunes/iWork/Java/etc updates that were available on Software Update.  Now my AppleTV can't recognize my iTunes library on my computer.
My wifi is on and working fine, my Home Sharing is still set up in iTunes and on AppleTV.
I used to use Little Snitch (which would sometimes cause problems) but I updated it to the latest Lion-friendly version (v 2.4) and it still didn't work, so I uninstalled it (using the provided uninstaller that is included in the download package - not by simply throwing it away).
I've restarted both iTunes as well as the computer (to avoid Resume issues).
So far nothing has worked.  Please advise!

I too had the same problem with Apple TV, once I downloaded OS X Lion to my iMac desktop and MacBook Pro. I called Apple TV support and they recommended doing a full reboot of my AT&T Uverse system (TV, Internet, and Phone).  Well, after the full reboot, all is well!  I can now access my iTunes Library, Netflex, etc. I was also able to restore wireless capability for my HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer even though HP plans to release new drivers for OS X Lion.  So then, I highly suggest rebooting your entire home cable system after downloading OS X Lion.  Surely there is need for additional patches and new Apple TV software but this immediately cured my problem.  Please note too that at Apple Downloads, you will find a Java release for OS X Lion.

  • Airport Extreme can't connect to any server

I can't connect to any websites using my Airport Extreme, which worked fine until yesterday, everything is set up correctly and Network assistant tells me I'm connected to the internet. Every website I try to open (in Safari, Opera, and Firefox) gives me a message that I can't connect to the server, same with Mail. Everything works fine with an Airport Express or plugging directly to the modem. All of this started yesterday when my internet was down, but the airport never came back. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, and yes I've unplugged everything about 400 times. Anyone experience anything like this before?
    josh

It sounds like when the Internet went down, the modem got "confused" and didn't remember that the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) was connected to it.
    Please try the following:
o Power-down the modem, AEBSn & computers. Order is not critical.
o While the power is off, check to see if the modem employs a backup batter. If it does, temporarily remove it, and then, replace it.
o Power-on the modem. If it has one, press and hold the modem's reset button for at least 3-5 seconds. After power-up or reset, wait at least 10-15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s).
Your computers should be able to access the Internet (& access web sites) now. Please post back your results.
