Firefox can't find "my AOL favorites" when I click on it in "bookmarks" menu. Always worked before.

I am not sure you are able to just copy and paste your old profile. Create a new profile in Firefox (see [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]), then see the article [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] to find what you can salvage.

Firefox is my browser on my iMac that I click on when I want to go on Internet or to my favorites list. I have not done anything to make it now say "Server not found." I have to click the link several time before it will load and sometimes when they do load it does not show the page right. It is like the HTML is messed up or something. I have tried everything I can think of. I started in safe mode, still did it., I removed add-ons, still did it., I reset Firefox and still did it., I completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed Firefox and it still does it. I have tried Malware Bytes Anti-Malware scans and Avast boot-time scans and found no malware or viruses. I have found that those websites open the first time with no problems on my IE9 and they used to do so in Firefox 26.0. I'm at my wit's end. The website links are in my bookmarks and are used all the time so they are trusted and my avast is set to allow them. They range from news websites to gun websites and everything I have read says that Mozilla does not filter those unless something has changed recently.

Firefox can't find the file at (a location is specified) when either "Navigate previous" (and next) buttons are pressed in an HTML5 skin (but OK in IE/Chrome).

I create HTML5 help projects from a package called MadCap Flare. It uses what they call an HTML5 'skin' that sets the style/layout of the page and also includes 'Navigate previous' and 'Navigate next' buttons. When viewing the help and pressing these navigate buttons in IE8 or Chrome 32 there is no problem, but in Firefox 27 I get the following: (typical error for pressing a button on any page)

I should correct that last entry and state that the | charactacters are generated automatically in the Toc-Path for each 'book' name in the online help, and are not something manually created, whereas the : characters have come from the TOC book topic names (which were manually entered names and are what we would ideally require). But, because 'previous' and 'next' topics within nested TOC books without colon (:) characters CAN be browsed successfully when just | characters are present in the Toc-Path, the limitation would appear to be solely due to the : characters.

My home page is google and it works but when I open a new tab it displays an error message :Firefox can't find the file at chrome://quick_start/content/index.ht

I've made sure a dozen times that my home page is set correctly, and when I hit the home button next to the search bar it works and takes me right to google BUT whenever i open a new tab i get the error that my page cannot load and the web url that it keeps trying to remember is in the error message:

of course the last dot is not the url anymore but the end of the sentence for the error message, but i don't ever use chrome ever on my laptop only my cell so what is going on????? help fix god please!!!!!!

Do you have the FastStart extension?

I frequently get the "Firefox can't find the server" error message. Refreshing the page normally causes the page to load, although sometimes it takes more than one try.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When I open Firefox I get this message: “Firefox can't find the file at /b". As a browser Firefox is working for me but I have to click the google search button to connect to the internet. If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

every time that I try to click on a link for Playfish free gifts for apps that I play through Facebook or through an email to a link being offered by Playfish, I get the following message:

I have cleaned cache, checked firewall, allowed in pop-up blocker, everything and nothing works... I can play the apps with no problem, it is only when trying to collect the items offered as gifts from Playfish.

Lower "firefox can't find the server at"

when Firefox fails to get to a server, it bumps the message box "firefox can't find the server at [server]".
example: i'm on my main tab, opening several links with middle click. while on it, firefox gets me to a background tab for that message. then when i get back to my main tab, i forget where i was...
the way i want to work is that the message will appear only when i click on that tab (and possibly have the tab flash to some other color until then).
is it possible?
is there an addon or about:config twaek that can change it?

Sometimes the page may have changed in the meantime, but the tab you've gone back to hasn't refreshed to reflect that. Hitting the F5 key to reload the page will work if that is indeed the case.
Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit, possibly the one called "Redirect Remover" you have installed.

Try resetting your proxy server. Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Settings and select one. I must do this every time I restart Firefox -- but at least after that, I'm okay until the next restart.

I frequently get the "Firefox can't find the server at ..." message but in most cases clicking "refresh" gets to the relevant website. Based on limited usage of IE, IE doesn't give the same problems. In attempting to resolve the issue I've deleted and reallowed Firefox through the firewall, tried starting in safe mode, cleared the cache, made suggested additional entries though About:config, etc. all to no avail. Judging from discussion threads this problem appears to be very common but none of the solutions I've tried work. Any suggestions for possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

This problem has occurred frequently since upgrading to 3.6 and upwards, all the way to 6.0. It is so persistent a problem that I am seriously considering bidding farewell to Firefox for a while.
I have IE, Chrome, Opera, Netscape and ArmorSurf as alternatives. Even the old Netscape Navigator (version 9+) gives me less problems than Firefox.
Another major annoyance with Firefox: Upgrades too often cause the loss of previously functioning add-ons (some of which had cost money for the premium versions).
Firefox has lost its razzle-dazzle for me. Too bad.

Do you have any idea how to get rid of this annoying pop-up? I searched for that file name on Google, but nothing came up.
This only started happening after the Scareware program, Open Cloud Security, infected my computer a few days ago. My wife got into my registry to remove Open Cloud, but now I am left with this annoying Firefox problem. I have to close the annoying window TWICE to get back to Drudge.
