Firefox can't load certain websites that Chromium can

I tried Ad Block Plus with Linux Ubuntu 11.10, and now certain websites that can be loaded with Chromium cannot be loaded with Firefox.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
* Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
* Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
* Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• Firefox won't load certain websites.

Firefix won't load some certain websites. I even have to use google chrome now, to ask advice. I did all the things said in the help page but it only seemed to turn internet connection slower! It seems that FF is having problems with save websisites and sites that redirect somewhere. like www.zone.ee, ois.ut.ee and some other ones, i can't access my gmail either. So I really need to solve this problem asap.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.<br />
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

• Safari and Firefox Won't Load Certain Websites

Starting just today, Safari nor Firefox will go to my university's website. www.weber.edu.  I've tried everything I can think of.  I reset both browers.  Restarted the computer.  I thought maybe it was my router/network, but my windows laptop had no problems loading the website.  I have an '07 iMac with the latest version of snow leopard, Safari, and Firefox.  This just happened out of the blue. It worked just fine yesterday.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Please launch the Terminal application, copy or drag -- do not type  -- the text below into the window, and press return. Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered (there may be none.) If nothing happens within 30 seconds, consider that to be no output. You can then quit Terminal.

• Firefox will not load certain websites but IE will

After upgrading to FF 29 I cannot access the addons and several other pages.
Going to addons.mozilla.org or clicking the addons button gives me a bulleted list of links.
Attempting to download an addon just says "Error Downloading"
I can go to addons.mozilla.org in IE and download and install them manually with no issues.
I have cleared the cache and cookies several times and reset the proxy to none.
I looked at about:config and there was no line for xpinstall.enabled so I added it as a boolean.
I ran malwarebytes and it found nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.

• Firefox crashes when loading certain pages and I can't get the new adobe flash to install so I can't listen to everything. I have a Linux system.

Do I need to install an other more update version? I just can't get adobe to install. Also I can't get ANY copier, printer, etc. to work on this system. I don't want to remove Linux or Firefox because they catch all the "junk". Can you help? I'm not the best at this and I will do my best.

I had that problem myself and was forced to download the installer for "other browsers" using Internet Explorer at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ . After I did that it installed correctly. You can also try downloading the FULL installers for flash at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html . Just make sure that all browser windows are closed before you run either of these.

• Firefox won't load certain websites, so I need to install an earlier version.

I've used the public forums on those websites to get support, and most people say that installing Firefox 14.01 will fix the problem. Where can I go to install Firefox 14.01? I'd prefer installing it here, on Mozilla.org, rather than going to a less reliable site.

Yes you may download Firefox 14 from an official Mozilla Firefox site see
*Install an older version of Firefox that does warn you about security risks and not to do it, but then includes a download link.
There will almost certainly be better fixes or workarounds to almost any problem than using an insecure Firefox 14. (Bar changes to how some web pages look, I can not immediately think of anything that gets fixed by downgrading to firefox 14, other than the usual problems with incompatible extensions that take a while before they are updated )
Personally I would suggest for a knowledgeable user a better solution is to go to the other extreme and run Firefox Beta as standard, and only downgrade to the secure Release if a problem occurs. (That philosophy does not work if you rely on security related binaries - but the majority of users are on legit Windows systems and can make use free MS software anyway.)
What problems are you having ?

• Firefox crashing when loading certain websites

Hi All,
After updating my firefox to the latest version (3.6.12), the browser frequently crashes on cerain websites. In particular, when i visit www.scottishproperty.co.uk. I think it may be flash related but im not sure.
I have tried the following but it has not solved the issue:
1. Followed the artice on this site for firefox crashing on certain pages
2. Uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it
3. sent error reports to firefox - but when i go to About:crashes no reports are show.
Can anyone please advise?
When i try the same url in IE, it works as normal.

If you still have problems with crashes please
# read the article: firefox crashes
# if you have problems with crashes and are using Fireox's safe mode
#* please navigate to about:crashes
#* post a couple of recent CrashIDs into your next message
Are you restricted to using Firefox in safe mode in order to prevent crashes?

• After updating to 3.6.4 firefox now crashes on certain websites that it didn't crash on before.

As an example: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/?xid=cnnnav
== Crash ID(s) ==

Same issue - however firefox will open but I can not click on only of my tool bar shortcuts - the writing on the google age is greyed out so I can not click on anything. Still no resolution? I have deleted the folders and re-installed - it will open and then locks and it will not work????

• My computer will not load certain websites

Hi,
Both Safari and Firefox will not load certain websites consistantly (Twitter is one of them). I check on my wife's computer and they can load on her computer no problem. It shows the "Problem Loading Page" message. I've cleared history, cache, everything that I can think of. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Richard

Hello,
In a browser's URL bar, put this & hit enter, does that get you to Apple?

• Need to click in address bar to load certain websites

Firefox never finishes loading certain websites. However, clicking on the site address in the address bar then immediately loads them. This also happens with all add-ons disabled. What gives?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:

• Firefox cannot load certain websites and I've tried all suggested options to fix the problem.

I cannot load certain websites (my bank, some public/civic offices, etc.) on Firefox or Internet Explorer (I usually use Firefox) and have tried all the suggested options in Firefox Help to remedy this problem: clearing cache and cookies, making sure no proxy is selected, allowing cookies). How do I fix this? I use a broadband internet connection that is shared.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
<b> To Enable SafeMode </b>
*You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
*Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

• Firefox can not load YouTube Website

I put youtube.com in address bar and Firefox can not load youtube website. It eventually times out. Any suggestions? I have tried clearing the cache, closing firefox and re-opening, downloaded firefox again, and the same problem persists.

• Firefox staying offline on certain websites

When my internet briefly disconnects and reconnects while firefox is open, firefox suddenly refuses to load certain websites, those websites (if its any help) are facebook, yahoo mail, and any google search page. These happen to be pages i access alot so im not sure if its related.
But with other pages they work normally through an internet loss and reconnection.
Basically it just loads on and on and on (however not as if the page is loading, the green circle on the tab remains grey forever) the only way to fix this is to restart firefox (very annoying since i tend to work in several tabs located within multiple windows)
This has persisted through several new profiles, firefox reinstalls, and even through Windows reinstalls, so please dont suggest that.
I dont have any antivirus running or any firewall blocking access to certain websites or anything, so this is just so weird.

Hello,
Try refreshing the page with Ctrl+F5 so that it doesn't pull from your cache. Also, you can try clearing your cache with:
* History (or > History) > Clear Recent History
* Select the categories you want to clear
Or you can clear your cache in:
* Tools (or ) > Options > Advanced > Network
* In the Cached Web Content section, Clear Now
And try accessing the pages again. See the article How to clear the Firefox cache for more information.
You also have a lot of extensions which could be causing the issue. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes). If the pages work after the internet reconnects in safe mode, an extension is likely the culprit, in that case please see the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article.
Potentially unrelated to your problem, but things that should improve your browsing experience: It could be your user agent switcher causing your user agent to show Firefox version 28, but please update to the latest Firefox (version 32.0.3).
Also, I noticed that you have two version of Flash installed - having multiple versions of the same plugin can cause issues. You can uninstall them using this tool:
* http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
And reinstall Shockwave Flash v15.0.0.152 here: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
