Firefox cannot connect

Suddenly Firefox will not connect anymore. IE does. Thunderbird does. The last thing I remember is that I went to one of my regular sites (a local news station) and a message came up saying it wanted to load something. I declined.
Here's an error message from the console: Error: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1'] is undefined
Source File: chrome://dotnetassistant/content/bootstrap.js
Line: 33
I've run two separate virus scans, deleted some .js files, rebooted with add-ons off, deleted extensions and uninstalled and installed the whole program....... NOTHING!

It's not a virus issue. That message indicates that you have an add-on installed which is incompatible with the current version of Firefox.
You appear to have Windows 7 installed, so you should have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SPI installed. That being the case, download this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/microsoft-net-framework-assist/

  • Firefox cannot connect to internet, although internet explorer will, this problem just starter today, any ideas of what I should dpo

Everytime I try to use firefox I get a message saying Firefox cannot connect to the internet. It was working fine yesterday. I can connect without any problems using Internet Explorer, so I know it is not my internet connection?

    Thanks, for responding.
I did a hard reset of the linksys router. I changed the name of the wireless network. I did this using the PC that is wired to the router. The PC continues to work just fine.
The G4 continues to be able to log-in in the wireless network, but there is no internet connection with the G4. Under Network Status, the G4 says "Airport is connected to the network. Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet" Is this something I should try to fix?
    Thanks!

How do I get it to connect without deleting and reinstalling.

    Hi Paul.gifford,
There are a couple of troubleshooting tricks that you can try in order to resolve this issue.
#Open a new tab and swipe over to the history panel
#Long tap on the entry and remove the cannot connect entry
#Close Firefox from the app manager
    # Toggle the connection on the mobile device if you are on wifi
    # Open Firefox and open a new tab to the website you were trying to visit.

  • Firefox cannot connect to Internet.

Firefox 5.0 cannot connect to the Internet after changing the connection from my corporate connection to any other connection. Changing from any other connection to the corporate gives the same problem with the Firefox. IE 7 can connect to the Internet after the changing. Closing and restarting the Firefox allows to connect, but the closing loses all the open pages in the tabs.
The network setting is to use the system proxy settings.
How to resolve the problem? How to make Firefox not to lose connection, as IE7 does not lose?

The default Firefox home page is on your own machine, so sound like it is your Firewall.

    Hello,
Could you try to apply the following update for SQL Server and apply the latest update for VS 2013?

Another option may be repairing the installation.

  • Firefox cannot connect to internet yet other programs can!

Whenever I load Firefox 3.6.7 It doesn't connect to the internet. It constantly says "Unable to connect" however, other browsers such as Opera, I.E, Chrome, these work, also same for Firefox 4.0 Beta 1 too.
    What is the problem?

  • Why does "problem loading page" appear when i try to run firefox? I can access the relevent page via internet explorer but firefox cannot connect to the web/

A few days ago Firefox stopped working when using shortcut or exe. file. The message http://en-gb.start3.mozilla.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official appears, although when i paste this address into internet explorer it works. What is preventing firefox from connecting?

Actually, dchristie, your solution didn't help at all. If I wanted to use IE, I wouldn't have installed Firefox. IE is a good browser, but doesn't have features Firefox has. Also, when Firefox crashes windows can kill it and you can restart it no problem. When IE crashes, since it is so tightly integrated into windows, windows itself becomes unstable and you have to reboot.

  • Firefox cannot connect to any websites, although other browsers have no trouble doing so..

I had a problem with a Seagate drive and they connectd remotely to my computer. Hundreds of Windows showed up as part of making the conection and FireFox crashed.
    I have since:
    * Uninstalled Firefox
    * Downloaded a new copy (it fwould not work)
    * Followed all advice I could find on the Mozilla support site including clearing all history
Still Firefox will not connect to any website. Here is the error message I get:
    Unable to connect:
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at nytimes.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Firefox 6 won't settle down as the next release Firefox 7 is already planned to be released later this month.
You shouldn't be using Firefox 5 because it doesn't have the patch to disable the DigiNotar certificates that was the reason for Firefox 6.0.2.<br />
Using unsupported Firefox versions is at your own risk and makes you vulnerable to attacks.
