Firefox captures Alt+Shift, but Alt+Shift+" is set as a dead key for my layout.

I do some typing in other languages, so I've set up a custom keyboard layout with all the accented characters.
I've set Alt+Shift+" as the dead key for the diaeresis (e.g., alt+shit+" i gives ï).
They layout works system-wide, and I can use my other dead keys in Firefox, but not that one.
It's not absolutely necessary, but it's pretty annoying.

Some keyboard layouts like the "US International keyboard layout" can use the double quote (") as a dead key to add a diaeresis (I have a compose key on Linux), maybe that works better.

Shortcut key for Firefox icon won't start multiple sessions

If is set up a shortcut key for the desktop icon to start firefox, it can start one but not multiple windows/sessions of firefox. I want it to start a new firefox window, just like I can with IE, even if firefox is already running. How can I fix this?

Firefox(3.6.8) just wouldn't start,but did allow me to uninstall it.
Which I did, removing all personal data. (second time)
I then installed older version (3.6) , and is up and running again.

Thanks for prompt response - I tried what you suggested but I'm afraid it has not helped. It seems as though the line of number keys along the top aren't actually doing what is printed on them. Some are OK, but the further towards the right hand side of the keyboard you go, the less predicatable it becomes. So whilst the second key from the left gives me 1 and ! when holding the shift key, by the time I get to the 6 when I press and hold shift I get ^ rather than & symbol which is what is actually printed on the key. The & symbol is actually on the next key along - and when I hit the key with 8 I get * rather than the ( which is printed on they key but actually located on the next key along. Things get even more muddled by the time I am over on the right hand side as rather than a question mark (I have had to type the word as I cannot find the symbol anywhere!) I get this _ and the other symbol marked on the key is a comma, but I get - instead. It is going to drive me mad if every time I want to type something it is a guessing game....! What do you suggest - question mark

To type a big polish (latin2) letter one must press:
shift + alt + one_letter
or
alt + shift + one_letter
It always made no difference but today I discovered that only
alt + shift + one_letter

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

Ctrl+Shift do not shift between languages in Firefox and Opera browers

Pressing Ctrl+Shift on the keyboard do not shift between languages when typing in Firefox and Opera browsers, but it works fine in Word and other applications. I have Windows XP SP3. My browsers are updated.

Firefox has menu items that use the Shift and Ctrl modifier keys (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+Z = Redo) and those can interfere, especially when typing in a text area.
You might have more luck with Alt and Shift instead.
Try to assign different keyboard shortcuts to each of the installed languages instead of using a key sequence to cycle between installed language layouts.

When I open a new window in FFox7, how can I make it automatically appear exactly on top of the previous window -- not resized, not shifted, but directly on top?

I used to set Firefox to full screen; but my new monitor is too big to do that. So I sized the Firefox window to the size I want, and I carefully centered it (using a tape measure to get it as close to dead center as possible).
But everytime I open a new window, it appears shifted slightly to the right (I think that's called cascading, but I'm not sure). While some might like this feature, I prefer it open exactly on top of the previous window; and it's a pain to have to shift the new window manually every time I open one.
How do I set Firefox to open new windows right on top of the parent window (and the same size), covering it up completely?

Can I switch calendars (Ex. "night shift" to "day shift" cal) with a repeating event, but ONLY for that one event?? It asks "for all events or only this event" if i change the time. But it changes ALL events when i try and switch calendars. Any help??

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar. I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts". But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days. I want to change that in my calendar. When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event. no problem....just this single event. but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event. can anyone help with this??? am i doing something wrong? is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program??? i used to do this and never had any problems. what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)

The numeric keypad keys needs to be used to enter the Alt+0169 © ©©© on a laptop that often means turning on numlock and using the alt+and the keys being mapped for the numeric keypad. Usind the standart number keys does not work alt+0169 produces nothing....

Prelude CC subclips, timecode shifts but are consistent shifts

Logging DSLR footage from Prelude CC and creating Subclips that are sent to Premiere CC do not retain the correct timecode and slip by a consistent amount for the clip. Leading me to believe it is not a drop frame or non-dropped frame issue. Test have had time code off by 6sec and 3 frames, and 2sec and 6 frames. But that offset is consistent for the duration of the subclip.
Reproducing the bug:
create subclip in Prelude CC and send that clip to Premiere CC, place in the time line. Apply the Timecode preset and match frame to any portion of the subclip. The time code is off by a consistent amount. And the matched frame is off by the same amount. It is not only a display issue, it is an actual shift in the matched frame. Meaning the source and the program monitor are not "matching" frame.
Creating a subclip within Premiere and applying the timecode preset, then matching frame, displays the correct timecode and the correct matched frame. This appears to be a bug in Prelude.

Do you mean there is a shift for time code when you apply Timecode effect to a sub clip which is sent from Prelude ? I want to confirm with you whether you have adjusted the "Time Display" from Effect Controls panel. It should be matched exactly with frame rate of this clip. I tried some footages with different frame rates, and there isn't any shift. You can refer to my attached screen shot for that parameter in PPro.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I do not recall the problem occurring when Windows 7 was first released. This has been happening for several months now with all versions of Firefox. 3, 4, and 5. I have searched online for a solution to this problem. I have tried every fix listed here and online that I could find. The problem remains. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.

Update firefox, it asked me to update flash, I tried to update flash but it said I had to close firefox. A box came up and said the Flash install would continue when I closed firefox. I closed all firefox windows and no update of flash occurred. I tried relaunching firefox but got the "Doesn't start when starting as administrator. Error Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." message. I rebooted the system, no improvement. I tried to run firefox as administrator and got the same message. Either I find a fix or I won't be able to use firefox and will have to go back to ie.

Firefox is already running but is not responding" error message - How to fix it

I am not sure where to post this. But after trying everything from this site I came to my own fix.
This stopped the failure to close problem in Firefox [please pardon my lack of computer terms]
#1 Uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it and it still didn't restart correctly
#2 Start menu [ %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ ] and deleted all firefox files
#3 Uninstalled Firefox and re-installed again
#4 Start menu [firefox.exe -p ] and deleted profile info and created a new profile
#5 Open Firefox Right clicked for Menu Bar
#6 select Tools
First off I did change my start page and I unchecked all Tab buttons [i don't like tabs]
#7 Privacy Tab
check-- [Tell sites I do no want to be tracked] [may be optional]
check-- [Never Remember History] ******** and firefox restarted
Location Bar-- check-- or select-- [ Nothing ] [may be optional]
then clicked ok
Then I again tried my old setting of [use custom settings for history ]
When I changed the [Never Remember History] to [use custom settings for history] and restarted firefox.
I attempted to try this and all the restart problems popped up again
Please note
This could not be Undone. Attempting to change from [use custom settings for history] back to [Never Remember History] would not correct the hang problem, so I had to start all over from the beginning. And that did work.
I did loose my Bookmarks in the reset but I will live with it!
I have restarted 20 times without a failure where it was two or three times. so it seems to work now.
Sorry about my poor message abilities above. As I get older my attention to detail seems to be falling a bit.
To cap what this is about.
I started into checking the [options] page and with every page I altered I clicked yes and closed. Then checked for a response in Firefox.
Everything worked fine until I got to the Privacy Tab.
Again I am sorry about my crappy writing.
Perhaps you smart folks can figure a way to fix this without loss of data.
