Firefox caught 10 Trojan-backdoor programs- message; "Install Security Defender 898.exe" . I attempted to Install but Avast stopped download. Is this SecurityDefender sanctioned by Firefox?

I am still running Win XP on a Dell desktop using Avast Antivirus (licensed ).
I opened a link while working in my g-mail account.

  • Application Manager thinks a program is installed but it's not.

    The Application Manager says Fireworks is installed, but it's not. I think the application got deleted, but the only way to redownload it is via the Application Manger, which thinks its there.
    Any ideas on how to fix this? Adobe Support said the wait was 2 hours and nobody is available to chat.

    because it was not well un install, for all those who read this too works, this was for muse but you can find any program. it will uninstall clean and then you will be able to install.
    was not well uninstalled, i gave them a hard time a little. i'm on mac if you are not still follow the links and go back on its track to find the pc page.

  • Creative programs will install but will not open with same error message

    Hello guys thanks for any help you can provide.
    I installed creative cloud and install a few programs. None of the programs will open and I receive the same error message for each one.
    Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 cannot be opened because of a problem.

    All programs on creative say they are up to date. They have not been registered as I have not successfully opened one yet. I am running a ate 2014 MBP with a 2.8 i7 processor, 16 gb of ram and a 1tb solid state drive with 600gb of space free.
    I have uninstalled the programs and have reinstalled with the same result. I have also followed solutions for other problems for programs not starting or loading, with no success. Any help on solving this problem or direction to a previous posted solution would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the response. I deleted all the programs, and then removed creative cloud. Then I ran the creative cloud cleaner, and rebooted. I reinstalled and so far everything seems to be working.

    That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
    I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

    If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • CC programs are installed but CC desktop says they are not

    I have Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, Dreamweaver CC installed on my PC.  The Cloud Updater lists them all under "Find New Apps" as [yet to] "Install".  These programs were all initially installed through the CC panel.  But I can update each one separately by opening any of the program outside of the CC window and selecting "Updates" in the single program and then updating them all through the Adobe Application Manager.  What's going on, please?
    And what will happen to the existing programs if I go ahead and select "Install" from the CC panel given that they are already installed?

    Kindly provide the screenshot of creative cloud apps panel so that we can assist you appropriately.
    Please check the version of the that you have install on your machine, also check the version that are available to install in Creative Cloud app.
    Meanwhile, try the below mentioned steps.
    If the version in apps seems latest then try click on update/install for any of the application.

  • Updated DIVX now Firefox doesn't show/stream video at all. This has happened previously and had to re-install but that didn't work this time. Anyone help please?

    This only happens when I update DIVX and only affects Firefox. The previous occasions when thiss happened I had to re-install the web player for Firefox, but even that hasn't worked.
    I had been watching video stream fine prior to update and it is fine in IE6.
    On webpage, vid box shows until play clicked then just a blank space where it should be.

    Have you tried exporting a 10 second section of the footage to see if the issue shows up once the seqeunce is actually exported from the timeline. I edit on CS5 with windows 7 pro at work quite often and have no issues so I assure you that isn't the issue. I also edit with AVCHD footage when at home and work quite freqeuntly as well so I'm positive that isn't the issue. It sounds like a GPU driver has been corrupted in the way it interacts with premiere pro. What type of GPU do you have? If it supports MPE's GPU acceleration have you tried turning it off and seeing if that makes any difference?
    Anyways though try to export a 10 second test section of your timeline to see if when the clip is exported from premiere it will play normally in windows media player or vlc or w/e media player you want to use. If it exports fine then you can almost be positive it's a corrupted video card driver. If that's the case I'd re-install your GPU's driver and also check your gpu makers website to see if they have a updated driver avaiable.

  • Update message offers to download 3.6.16 as a security and stability update for 3.6.13, but will not download on Mac OS 10.4.11

    The first time I received the update message, I clicked on "Update Firefox," it spent awhile downloading, then presented an error message stating that I didn't have "enough privileges" for the update. Since I keep getting the same update message several times a day (extremely annoying), I tried updating two more times (most of the time I just close the update message). Both times it just kept downloading and downloading, and hadn't finished by the time I shut down for the day. If I am not allowed to update, I do wish that the update messages would STOP! I have 3.6.13 and will be replacing this computer soon, so I would rather just leave things as they are and not keep getting pestered to do something that can't be done.

    Using your link, I downloaded the new version. When I dragged the Firefox icon into the applications folder, it asked if I wanted the new version to replace the existing one, and I said yes. I was then told that it couldn't be done because I had insufficient privileges for some items. Is the reason for this that I didn't trash the old version BEFORE dragging the new one into the applications folder (under the assumption that "replace" meant that the old version was trashed as the new one was installed)? If not, it appears that I am back to the same problem I've had before.
    Since I'll be replacing this computer soon, it seems too troublesome to bother with this update. I'd just like the update reminders to go away!

    After two frustrating days loading CC on my computer I find that the apps will not download!!! It took Tech Support two days to help disable and enable dozens of items in my computer to finally load CC. Simply clicking on the App in CC did not work. I received the error message - Download appears corrupted please try again in a few minutes (-60).

  • Dialogue box says Safari installed, but nothing there

    I cannot install Safari, Quicktime or iTunes on a dell laptop with Vista SP2. The installer says that the programs are installed but there is nothing on the desktop, in the program files, and no search turns anything up. Not sure what is going on.     Okay ... the Apple Application Support stage of things might be a factor on the iTunes install here too. Since we're doing installs on a mostly clean machine, I'm suspecting interference from your security software, and we'll try attending to that possibility first.
    Probably best to print off a copy of these instructions first, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to have a web browser running.
    First download and save fresh versions of Safari and iTunes installers to your hard drive. (Don't run the installs on line, and don't start the installs just yet.)
    Restart the PC. *Do not open any applications after the restart.* Now disconnect from your network and/or the internet.
    Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
    Now try a Safari install by doubleclicking on the SafariSetup.exe you downloaded earlier.
    If that seems to go through okay, try an iTunes install by doubleclicicking on the iTunesSetup.exe you downloaded earlier.
    After the install attempts, reenable your security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or internet.
    Any better luck with those install attempts, Carl? (If you ended up with error messages or install failures again, let us know what they said, or describe to us what seemed to be happening this time around.)
