Firefox causes Windows 7 Device Manager to constantly refresh/reset

When I execute Firefox, my Windows 7 Device Manager begins to constantly reset/refresh.
This happens about every 10 seconds.
Even when I have disabled all extensions and add-ons and I have removed and reinstalled Firefox, the behavior still happens.
The behavior disappears if I (i) terminate Firefox, (ii) run Explorer or (iii) run Chrome.
Any thoughts?

  • USB-6509 Stops being recognized by Windows 7 device manager.

    I am currently using a USB-6509 under Windows 7.
On a freshly formatted machine I have no trouble setting up the device using the National Insturments Measurement & Automation Software version 9.4.
Some windows updates were pushed to the computer that my USB-6509 was connected to, causing the computer to reboot in the middle of use. When the machine came back up the USB device couldn't be found by the Measurement & Automation Software, nor by Windows Device Manager. I did a complete uninstall of the software and reinstalled, this did not fix the issue. I uninstalled 9.4 and installed 9.5 and this too has not resolved the issue.
Inside device manager windows will show "Static Digital Firmware Loader" under "Data Acquistion Devices". But there is nothing installed pointing to the USB-6509.
The green light on the back has yet to come back on. I would prefer not to reformat if at all possible. Any suggestions?

I was having this exact issue.  "NI Device Loader" was running on the machine, but stopping and restarting this service by itself was what finally caused the device to start working again after lots of rebooting and other troubleshooting steps.  Thanks for the tip.

  • Ipad not connecting to Windows 7 (not showing up in windows explorer or Itunes)on to windows 7 device manager driver

After having someone fix problems with my windows, I now cannot connect my ipad to my computer or itunes.  I get a yellow triangle with exclamation point in the device manager.  I have tried to uninstall and install, and disable and unable.  I also tried reinstalling itunes.  However, nothing has worked.  It might be a problem with the correct driver not being on the computer.  It finds Apple Mobile Device USB Driver but cannot install because "one of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time."  Any ideas?

    Hey ct1110,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. The following resource provides some great steps, some of which you may have already tried. Specifically, I recommend running through the steps in “5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed”:

  • Are there any Windows 10 Device Management API?

We are looking to develop a semi MDM solution for windows 10. Are there any new api that have been release in this regard. Here are the specific tasks we would like to accomplish:
Put a device into kiosk mode programmatically.
Monitor the screen of a windows 10 device on a different device (send the screen feed through in a p2p format)
Restrict / only show white listed applications
Install apps onto devices through Windows custom app store, or ability to push apps to devices.
We can accomplish all these tasks in Android Lollipop.
Does anyone know if there are any new api or any other way or carrying out the above actions?
(Note the MDM is for an educational institution, who require the functionality.)
Thank you for any of your inputs.

In order to play this file, you need to upgrade
your media player to a version compatible with
    Windows Media Rights Manager V7.
Only Windows versions are compatible. You can't play these on a Mac.

  • The Utilisation of Firefox causes Windows Vista Language Bar to disappear.

Every time I open Firefox, Windows Vista Language Bar will be missing. Once I close Firefox, Language Bar reappear. It causes trouble whenever I wanna write in different languages.

I disabled the auto-updates after the second auto-update yesterday (and after the Time Machine restore to 10.9.1). The update had already been downloaded prior to that. Apps started nagging me this morning about the update - again. There is no "cancel" option, all I do is click on "Remind me tomorrow". I suspect it will install it again anyway in the days ahead, or I may go ahead and do the update and see if the nav bar is still there given the Preferences > General fix. Thanks.

  • Firefox causing windows to report unauthorised version

The next boot after upgrading the Firefox version to 33.1.1, my machine reported that the version of windows installed is unauthorised" - despite being dealer bought, and authenticated on installation by Microsoft some years ago.
I waited out the unauthorised windows message (white text and a black screen before the windows balls appear) and the machine did boot without apparent error. And It has done so for another 2 boot cycles. One hopes it continues to do so. And then went looking for a reason.
I trolled the Microsoft Answers website for a cause, and a common thread began to emerge. Many users reported the conditions I experienced, and the 1st question asked of them was "what have you installed or upgraded immediately prior to the event" and there's a lengthy lengthy list of users with Firefox as the change causing item over quite a few years. Which was when I realised that I too had just done that (upgrade FF).
A track record of causing unauthorised version issues with windows is really something no software product wants to have. Yet the number of events listing FF in this respect on the MS sites makes it seem pretty conclusive. And every time someone like me has this sort of event and finds that data eats your product' credibility. Firefox has been pushing their 3 month upgrade cycle. A bit more care and attention to basic issues is more desirable than any great rush to get a new marginally better version on the streets. Every 6 months for a version release would be more than acceptable if it was tested properly against the platform it must run on and avoided this sort of problem.

    Phillipp,
Originally, I thought this was a windows problem. I went to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us, logged in and searched on 'unauthorised version of windows".
You asked for a thread. There isn't one in particular, just a '''pattern''' in the many responses to that search term that are there. You'll need to read more than just a few of the entries to see it.
The search turned up lots of user entries with statements like "I've used a fully activated windows for years and suddenly it's telling me the windows version is unauthorised. why?" A common question by MS in reply is what did you last install or upgrade before the event, and many of the users replied Firefox. . . . The MS suggestions seemed to usually involve safe mode and uninstall actions.
I haven't done any of that - no need to yet - the unauthorised version message hasn't re-appeared, but once bitten several times shy. I know several users who have not had the problem also, so it looks to be very irregular, however the list of users with the unauthorised version problem citing firefox are not isolated cases either. My reaction on reading those posts would have been - if I did not already use FF - don't go near it. Software relies on reputation and those who have a bad experience with a program often do not advise the programmers of that - just steer clear and tell others to do the same. So I am telling you about it . . . .
The reality of FF being implicated in some way in these unauthorised version messages is clear in the entries on the MS website. It's possible that Mozilla has never seen them or heard of the issue, but that doesn't make the problem non-existent. The point of my message is that Mozilla needs to get its act together in this space, identify what can cause that message (talk to MS??) and ensure that it does not happen during new version testing.
You guys have a better link to the developers than any other I have seen. Pass this along.

  • Missing drivers in Windows 7 Device Manager

    Hello,
I just installed Windows 7 in my 24 inch iMac and everything went smooth, but I have missing 2 drivers:
    1.- Built-in iSight (PID 8502)
    2.- Coprocesador (DEV 0AA3)
For 1.- I dont know how to search for that driver.
For 2.- I searched in pcidatabase.com and it refers to an nForce driver from NVIDIA, the problem is that my iMac has an ATI video card.
    I will appreciate any help
    Thank you.

    Hi:
You  probably need this driver for the unknown device.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-131788-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Try manually installing the IMEI driver by browsing to the driver folder since the auto install didn't work.

    Try this bluetooth driver.

  • Firefox causes windows 7 to crash

When trying to open firefox, the screen freezes and windows reboots. Same happens to thunderbird too. Apparently all other programs are functioning. Try reinstall and the same happens. Try fresh reinstall (with all configuration files deleted automatically and manually) and the same still happens. Computer model is HP touchsmart tm2t. Cannot obtain Crash ID.

    Sorry to bump this thread.
Firefox 4 beta (pre8) crashed to me also with a horrible bsod (all blurred, so probably it crashed my ATI video card).
The thing is that it happened few minutes after i installed Mathemathica Player 7, and played some examples from Wolfram.
    For example:

I guess this two APPs don't behave nice with each other, probably since they both access the video card.

  • Iphone 4 makes an continuous intermittent vibration/buzzing sound when plugged into any of computer's 3 usb ports; does not show in itunes or Windows Vista device manager. No problem charging the phone with other power sources. What's going on?

This problem happened intermittently in the past but now happens every time I plug in the phone. I suspect it might be a problem with my computer, an Acer Aspire 4530, perhaps with it's charging function via usb ports? The phone makes the same buzzing sound twice when I connect to other power sources, but continues when connected to computer. I have this issue even when the phone is 100% charged.

  • My Photosmart eStn C510a is disabled in Windows 7 64-bit device manager

After a successful install the printer appears under "Multifunction adapters" in Windows 7 device manager.  The device manager indicates that the device is disabled.
If I enable it, the printer shows up as an "Other device" with an indication that there is no driver installed.  I have run setup several times and this keeps happening.  I also tried manually updating the driver by pointing to my Temp directory (which is where setup unzips its files) but it says no driver found.
The printer seems to be working OK accept for this anomoly.  Can anyone help?

  • Some odd warnings and messages for my Helix in the Lenovo Device Manager "Check Up" screen

If I open up the Lenovo Solution Center software, and go to the Check Up tab and select Device Manager, it shows a warning that says "One or more devices have problems", and lists two drivers that show "Unknown device" with a status of "Not installed".
There's no other information and I'm not sure what to make of this. Does anyone else have this issue? If I open up the Windows 8 Device Manager and expand all nodes in the tree, I don't see any devices with warning icons.
Also if I go back to the Hardware Scan button in the Check Up tab, and run it, althought he scan passes, it shows a Warning for the SMART short self test, and notes that the test is "Not supported", with a result code of WHD01V000-WIVZ2I. Is this anything to be concerned about? Note that it's not a failure, but a non supported test. Does anyone else's Helix complete this test?

I have the exact same problem with regard to 2 unknown devices not installed.  I got the message after first getting the Helix and running the updates.  I called Lenovo support and the tech could not figure it out and her response was "Well if is not causing any problems, I would not worry about it"  which sounds like an excuse to just get me off the line.  I was in a hurry to get somewhere and so did not push the issue.
The message only says 2 divices not installed, but does not tell you which ones.  The tech said that if it was a real problem, the message would tell me what divices are not loaded.
I have seen another post or two from people with the same issue but not suggested fixes.
