Firefox consumes almost 100% of one CPU unit regularly every 2 mins for cca 30sec.

Every 2 mins (cca) one core of the CPU gets busy with firefox process. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall whole firefox but without success. I have removed all unnecessary ad-ons I had. Although last one I have added was Firebug (cca one month ago)[the issues begin cca one week ago].

  • Firefox use 100% of one CPU (Mac)

    I use last firefox (32) on MacOS X 10.6.8.
    Sometime firefox start using 100% a one CPU, from that time the only way to stop it was to quit (it take severals seconds, sometime it hang). When it start i can close all windows, firefox continue using 100% CPU.
    I follow standard instructions (update to lastest, disable plugins and extensions...) it do not work.
    I not a configuration to reproduce the problem : keep iCloud mail open in one tab is the way to reproduce the problem sometime after a few minutes, sometime after some hours : but it also happend sometime with no iCloud open...

  • MobileDeviceHelper running @ 100% on one CPU Core

    Hi, anyone suggest anything to fix one of my CPU cores runs MobileDeviceHelper (32Bit) at 100% consistently after iTunes is started.
    The machine is a new build with Windows 8 64bit all updates and patches applied. All latest manufacturer chipset and other relevant drivers and every other part of the machine works perfectly. If I end the process, distnoted (32 bit) then replaces it and takes over with another core running at 100%. Ending that process and mobiledevicehelper comes back at one core 100% usage, then ending that and it behaves.
    I have tried restarting the machine, installing updates, disabling the task in task manager, resetting the network adapter (winsock reset) and disabling ApplePush, and itunes helper at startup but am out of ideas now! I haven't even sync'd my phone to it yet.
    Im fast thinking iTunes seems to be getting more buggy each release (I haven't been able to burn an audio cd on the new machine as it crashes while attempting to, but other software can burn the same playlist and file after dragging out of the iTunes playlist) yet iTunes on my Macbook runs fine!

    oh and its iTunes 12.1.1.4 64Bit with Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit all latest updates.
    As a workaround I have found the two files, renamed them so iTunes cant call them and everything still works fine which begs the questions what are they doing that uses 100% of one CPU core! I haven't setup my iPhone as a remote, or my AppleTVs yet, hoping they don't rely on these services!

  • Speakers use 100% of one CPU - Pavilion dv7

    HP Pavilion dv7-4153cl
    I have had two warnings about something using 100% of one CPU. The first one while using Dragon NS. The second was loading a program.
    When I clicked the warning, a box came up listing the speakers but nothing seemed to be a problem.
    Should I be concerned about these pop-ups?
    Why does it warn me?
    Does it slow down the computer?

    Well I understand that auto save is already present and saving your doc every 5 mins. But then why do you think, this did not happen yesterday in the following case?? I wrote one page of a long document and wanted to format it before proceeding. I selected the part to be formatted and instead erased it. I could not find that page again. I had to rewrite the matter.

  • Firefox using almost 100% CPU - hogging resources - hanging

    After several hours of operating Firefox starts using almost 100% CPU - with peaks of 100% occurring in rapid succession - FF hangs until CPU useage drops below 100%
    Followed recommended troubleshooting as recommended on this site:
    * Started in Safe mode - no problems occurred.
    * Disabled all extensions; Plug-ins left operating.
    * No replication of problems.
    * Enable 1/2 of extensions up to Flashblock - restarted - seems ok
    * Enable most remaining extensions
    * (There are 3 Java extesnions - only enabling one) - again seems ok
    * Some hours later - problem reoccurred. Each time CPU useage peaked at 100% (according to Task Manager) the Firefox Window flickered & was unresponsive.
    * Deleted cache - no change
    * Disabled recently added programs - no change
    FF opens and closes normally & completely. '''Problem only seems to occur after FF has been operating for some time'''
    This has occurred intermittantly before but has become chronic over the last few days. Apologies if I've been repetitive or explained poorly - FF has hung several times while typing this.

    No issue for me, after 4 loops my CPU load was around 18%.
    Firefox 33.1.1 under Windows Vista.

  • With many open tabs (80+) Firefox regularly (every 10sec) hangs for a few seconds because of session storing where the CPU is at 100%. Btw that is the reason why videos in Firefox are hanging every 10sec, too. Why is this operation so demanding?

    When I'm using Firefox for a long time and I'm working with several open windows and many open tabs (80+), Firefox hangs/freezes every 10sec for 1-3sec. This is very annoying. The reason for this seems to be the session store operation, which gets executed every 10sec. In my experience (or rather on my computer) this isn't noticeable when I'm just working with around 40 open tabs.
    This also seems to be the reason for hanging videos in firefox (although youtube is quite robust; others are not) because they stop every 10sec, too. For this time (the 1-3sec) the taskmanager tells me that firefox is using all the available cpu power. I'm really wondering why the session store operation has such an influence on Firefox' behaviour.
    My computer is a Core 2 Duo E6600 with 3GB RAM and a decent hdd.

    Just some additional info:
    I just had the problem again, and it even occurred when I did not have any tab open! I did not even use Firefox, but just wanted to start to use it, but it did not respond. There was _nothing_ open, and when I checked the TaskManager, the memory consumption was up to 300 MB, and the CPU was again at 100%. After the CPU was down to 0% again, the memory slowly decreased as well. First, to ~260, then to ~200, now to ~170 MB. Maybe it will decrease even further...

  • When I set up Contacts on iCloud, Contacts on my Mac consumes about 100% of a CPU, per Activity Monitor. Does that make sense?

    I don't think this should be happening, but I haven't been able to find any reference to such a situation in Apple Support or on Forums.

    I'm trying to do this. I unchecked Contacts, restarted my Mac and lo and behold, Contacts was rechecked! I unchecked it and checked Activity Monitor. By the time I returned to System Preferences, Contacts was rechecked. This happened 3 times. Now it has remained rechecked, AddressBookSourceSync is consuming over 90% of a CPU (mostly over 95%). I'm letting it go for about half an hour. I'm debating whether to let it go and see if it settles down (no evidence that it will). CPU time is over 30 minutes now. I think I'm going to quit (or Force Quit) AddressBookSourceSync, follow the suggested steps and see what happens.

  • Synchronizing 3 tables of data from one server to another every 10 mins?

    i am required to do implement the following setup.
    i have 2 servers which are running almost the identical copy of the database in both. the primary server is connected to the real time data feed which pomps in data.
    there is a particular table set (consisting of 3 tables) which should be "synchronized" with the secondary db for every 15 mins.
    apart of replication. what would you suggest to me on building a mechanism to to this synchronization in between the 2 tables of the 2 servers?
    please explain me all the stuff as basic as possible since i am very new to Oracle.

    Dear novicedba,
    It can be a logical standby database and you may connect and query the logical standby database. Since you are running on 10g, you simply can not open the physical standby database and start the managed recovery process (MRP), too bad but it is an Oracle 11g feature.
    So what you can do is you can create a logical standby database with will be on open state, so you can query the logical stanby at the end of the day or i presume you can use CA (Continuous Access) that i don't have that much idea but it is useful. You can replicate the physical parts of the database with that CA thing. I am sorry but i don't have that much idea about system level replication but i can give you detailed information about the Data Guard.
    Hope That Helps.

    In the Newbie Corner of the forums, there are a few stickied threads that are recommended reads.  One of which is this one.
    If the logs are not too too much, then it can be posted here with code tags. If it is crazy big, pastebin it and then post the link.
    If this is really all the information it gives about the journal being nuts, then you might want to enable debug levels of logging for the journal and then see if you can gather more information that way.  This can either by done by using a drop-in snippet to the unit file, or by turning on debug levels for the entire system from the kernel command line.
    The journal is not designed in such a way that it can be continously written to.  There are safeguards in place to ensure that masively spamming services are cut off after a certain number of log messages in a given timeframe.  Additionally, even the flush from the journal in RAM to the disk is only done periodically.

  • Firefox sometimes takes 100% of one of my four CPUs under Windows (7)

    A few times a day I'll hear the CPU fan running, or my PC starts responding slowly. Sometimes it won't open (maximize) from the task bar. I usually have to Control-Alt-Delete to go to processes. When I do, Fire Fox is using 100% of of of my quad CPU's processors. I have to kill the process to fix the problem.

    I see the same problem as your client in Firefox 16 on Windows 7. To fix the problem, add clear: left to the style for leftColMain
    #leftColMain {
        clear: left;     float: left;
        padding: 30px 0 0;

  • Process: "kernel_task" taking up almost 100% of CPU

    A few hours ago, I noticed my MBP start hanging and generally processing very slow. Apps would freeze at random times, and generally a lot of odd behavior.
    I checked the activity monitor to see what might be causing this. It turns out, the process "kernel_task" is using almost 100% of my CPU. It has stayed within the 70-100% range, and has yet to go down. I tried many things, including restarting my Mac many times, but it remains the same.
    Does anyone know why "kernel_task" is taking up so much of my CPU? Is there a way to somehow "reset" the process to get it back to normal? Any help would be much appreciated, since my Mac is, for just about all purposes, useless right now. It took me about an hour just to get to this page and type this message.
    Thanks in advance!
    P.S. I attached a screenshot of the process in the Activity Monitor. You can view it here: http://images12.fotki.com/v203/filejMEm/9ae47/8/1659168/8691947/kernel_task.png

    I just want to add that I think the "kernel_task" might have started eating CPU when I stopped a RAR program in the middle of extracting an archive. I'm not 100% sure though that this is when the problem started.

  • V 6.0.1 is slow and i just got a Norton notification that it is using close to 100% of one of my CPUS - it's the only application open , only one tab!

    I recently upgraded my Firefox and it has been slowing down my laptop ever since - delayed reaction when I type, for example. I just started my laptop this evening, and opened one Firefox window. I then got a message from Norton (File Insight), saying that 100% of one CPU is being used. Can you confirm whether this is the updated version of Firefox causing this? Should I downgrade?

    I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
    I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
    I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
    In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
    If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
