Firefox continues to crash on startup. Cannot fix!

After starting firefox, 5 to 10 seconds in it will just spontaneously close. I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox more times than I care to admit. (In fact, I have completely deleted the entire appdata local mozilla folder before installing) I have started in safe mode, still crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash, java, and several other things. Still crashes. There is no crash report. When I go to about:crashes, it has nothing. (I need to go there quickly, because after all, it crashes!)
I've read dozens of similar articles, and have carefully tried the directions of every imaginable response, and still it crashes. Resets, reinstalls, disabling addon, safe mode, everything. No other browsers on my system (windows 7) is giving me any problems whatsoever.
Please, tell me how I can use it without crashing, and please please please release a fix!

Do you see any crash reports in your %APPDATA% folder?
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.

  • Firefox continues to crash unexpectedly. The report mesage suggests that the information I send will help Firefox to cure the problem but I never hear anything from them. How is someone who isn't a computer geek supposed to solve this problem?

Firefox continues to crash unexpectedly. When it does a message requests me to send a report that is supposed to help Firefox understand the problem but I never hear from them again. Just how is someone who isn't a computer geek able to understand all the detailed discussions from other users. My Firefox is completely up to date. Is there anyone who can explain what is happening in simple terms?

    Hi Mariah ~
It's Shaunn, the original poster. Thanks for your posting. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's having this problem.
Now that you mention it, I'm having the exact same problem on Facebook as well, when I play Family Feud.
I wish someone would investigate and post a solution to this problem. No-one from Playlist has responded, and no-one "Officially" from Firefox either.
So Mariah, I appreciate you and your post.
If you find anything out...from anywhere...would you please let me know. You can post it right here and I'll get an email from Firefox.
I'll do the same for you.
Enjoy your day and good luck.
    Shaunn

  • Why does Firefox continue to crash?

Can someone please suggest why Firefox continues to crash when attempting to download a file. It happens every time, without fail.
    * I have deleted the downloads.sqlite file (more than once) to no effect.
    * I have disabled AVG firewall etc - to no effect.
    * Firefox originally crashed on the latest version, so I downgraded to v5.0.1 - to no effect. I have checked using AVG and an online virus/spyware checker and can find no infection.
    * I have submitted 17 crash reports since 29 September, but when I right click on any of them, and try to open in a new tab, I receive the following messge: “We couldn't find the OOID you're after. If you recently submitted this crash, it may still be in the queue.”
My OS is Vista Business 32 bit. Thank you for any help & advice.

  • Firefox 22 update crashes on startup in server 2008 R2 terminal environment. Downgrading back to 21 works fine though.

Firefox updated to version 22 and immediately started crashing on startup. Doing a completely clean reinstall does not solve the problem, as soon as the install finishes it immediately crashes. I have since installed version 21 from an old install file and it is working fine, so something with version 22 apparently does not like our Server 2008 R2 terminal environment. The server has the latest OS updates and AV/malware scans are performed routinely.

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
    Thanks in advance!

  • PE9 crashing on startup, cannot proceed (Mac)

My son has been using a new iMac 3.2 since Christmas running a newly installed PE9.  He has been editing a variety of short videos, experimenting with effects and so on.  He has been experiencing crashes in PE several times each day but now, after the last one, we cannot restart the program.  On startup, the purple window comes up and goes through all the "Loading..." messages in rapid sequence, and then we get the box "Adobe Premiere Elements 9 quit unexpectedly", with the offer to send a report to Apple.
Switching to a different login of course allows PE to start normally, so apparently it is being hosed upon trying to reload something out of my son's previous edits somehow but I'm unsure where to look or what log file to inspect to try to figure out how to clear whatever is going on here.
    Thanks,
    eno

There were some similar Mac issues, posted to the PrPro CS5 forum.
In most of those cases, things were reset by switching the account to a form of administrator, and then switching it back. Unfortunately, I do not use a Mac, and have to admit being ill-informed about them. Because of that, I did not follow the exact instructions closely enough to outline the steps (seemed simple to me), or even point you to the exact place for the settings. Still, seemed simple and this only had to be done on a temporary basis, and could then be reset.
You might want to do a Search of the CS5 forum for terms like "Mac, crashes on startup, etc." as those words probably appeared in the threads. You will probably understand the instructions, far better than I did. IIRC, Todd Kopriva (Todd_Kopriva), and Adobe employee commented in many of those threads, so you might first set the Search to filter on him, in the Options area.
Good luck, and wish that I could remember the exact details, but those instructions worked easily for most.

  • Why does Firefox 33 keep crashing at startup?

As soon as I start Firefox, It immediately crashes. The only way I have found to gain access to it is through starting in safe mode. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, to no effect.
From reading through the error logs, it looks as if there is an access violation.

hello, probably that's an issue with hardware acceleration - please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]].
or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

  • Firefox adobe flash player plugin continues to crash, how do i fix this?

with each update from adobe and from Firefox, flash player becomes more unstable. the last time it was stable was when adobe was still in 10th version but once it reach 11th version it became unstable. i have did everything the tread has offer to do from updating to the latest flash player and updating Firefox. uninstall Firefox and uninstall flash player and then reinstalling it. I have reset Firefox to its default settings. i keep my system clean of cookies and other things using CC cleaner and disk cleanup. i have the fast internet service provider and i have disable my antivirus software to make sure it was not interfering. i have tried safe mode. and have disable video accelerator as well. to no prevail. i know this has to be a flaw in the update. when it crashes a box appears saying a "script as stop working or is busy would you like to continue or stop plugin" of course i stop it because it will just freeze the computer if i don't. this occurs on a daily basics now. it would also appear that it slows down my internet speed while the process is running as evident of when it crashes my internet moves extremely faster than normal. i love Firefox and do not wont to switch. i know i can not return to internet explorer its terrible unstable and prone to virus but now Firefox is acting up. is their a add on or something to fix this issue that's been troubling users for the last 2 years. i have windows 7 home premium 64 bit computer. i have gone as far as performing a factory restore.

I have been chasing my tail with this problem for several years. Perhaps it is a problem common to Window 7 / 64 bit. At any rate you'd think that both Adobe and the Firefox developers could find a solution.
I'll try the above fix but if no solution is forthcoming I will be changing back to IE. After all the very reason I came to the Firefox browser was that IE was at the time not up to the challenge. It looks like the tables are now reversed.

I updated to the latest version of Ff V19 is it?
I am on WinXP with AVG (8.5.455) antivirus. Both are fully uptodate.
In AVG I have disabled "Link Scanner" and "Resident Shield" in case these were interfeering with Ff.
Google Chrome is behaving the same - crash report dialog appears immediatly on launch (and on PC start up).

Thank you madperson for taking the time to answer my question.
I found two Toolbars; Searchqu and ALOT, and removed them both.
I suspect Searchqu was the culprit because I saw "datamngr" flash by as the uninstaller was working away.
Thanks heaps, I i hope someone finds my answer useful as well.
