Firefox crashed 2 days ago and will now not open, and won't uninstall via Control panel add/remove programs; the files are still there on Windows Explorer. IE8 still works.

My PC is a fujitsuscaleo 600, last year I had a new hard drive and some extra RAM fitted and since then has been good - have used, and updated Firefox for over 6 years. in August I installed TrendMicro antivirus and for different reasons this has been uninstalled/re-installed twice. AFter letting it expire, I re-installed ParetoLogic PC health advisor (I think in August too)and allowed it to try updating some graphics drivers following a scan - this was unsuccessful so I marked them to ignore (something about my graphics card not supporting the drivers downoladed). I can see the mozilla files on WIndow Explorer but if I click 'remove' (control panel, add/remove programs) I get a very short 'hourglass' then nothing; if I click Firefox icon I get the same. Help!

I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong during the uninstall/reinstall process. In the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, look for '''Mozilla Firefox'''. Make sure to save (do not delete) your personal settings when uninstalling.

When I clicked the icon to download the add-on the download progress bar indicated that the download was underway however, when it had completed, the add-on appeared not to have downloaded - including no icon - not even if I search for one. When I tried to download the same add-on again, the download window indicated the download in a faded color and it seemed to be indicating that I already had the add-on. Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

MSN hijacks my firefox home page, no matter how many times I reset to Firefox Google. I do not have any MSN extension in my add ons, nor a BING file in my control panel add/ remove section. So how to get rid of it

I have tried the forum suggestions for re-setting my home page, how to disable add-on extensions, and how to to remove from any MSN / BING from my add/ remove in the control panel, but it persisits.
I do have IE 8 also , but only use it on websites that only function with IE, but my home page on IE is of my choice (GOOGLE) and does not reset to MSN. So whatever the problem is, it does not affect IE only Firefox

Seems that may have worked and that's great, thank you. But now I have another problem which seems to be as persistent as the search bar has been.
Now when I edit the bar and position of the buttons some of those buttons disappear when I click Ok in the customization, but reappear when I reopen the customization settings.
Why is that? When I put a space in between some of the buttons the buttons near the space will disappear and leave a blank space where it should be.
I'm beginning to be rather annoyed with this Firefox Beta to say the least and am considering returning to the version before it. Whatever I do now as far as customizing is concerned of the toolbar is reset every time I reopen Firefox. The buttons are no longer where I had set them up, the address bar is stretched to it's maximum, the Menu Bar is back the far left edge, buttons are missing that I had put there, and buttons I had removed are returned.
:| I know it may seem insignificant to some people but it annoys the crap out of me. I understand this is a beta and if there is no solution then I perhaps will use the earlier version for a while.

Emma, welcome to the forum.
You can go into Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows features on or off (In the left column). Uncheck Internet Explorer 11 and click OK. This will uninstall it. You can uninstall of install all of Windows features from there.

After updating itunes to the latest version it will now not open. I have tried reinstalling the programme, rebooting and all other suggestions, to no avail. this not the first time I have had issues with itunes. Frankly I find it completely unacceptable .

This most frustrating and completely unacceptable, especially when a company such as Apple touts itself being the leader in music technology yet does not respond directly to questions about faults in their system, but prefers to leave to disgruntled customers to try and sort it out amongst themselves
This not the first time I have had frustrating problems with the Apple system. Perhaps someone could suggest a more reliable system to switch to. Someone with a better troubleshooting system.

Going all the way back to Firefox 3.0.5 is shear foolishness, it is 14 security versions behind the last 3.0.19 release. And that version is missing at least a dozen security updates that were applied to the 3.5 and 3.6 versions after support for 3.0.x ended.
If you are not happy with Firefox 4, you should have installed Firefox 3.6.17. That is very similar to the 3.0 and has all the security fixes that have been released since support for Firefox 3.0.x ended last year.

Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.

I downloaded the mavericks install, and then my comp told me to erase my harddrive because its corrupted. All my files are on there, now it wont even let me open my laptop without having me reboot to the comp to the original state. how do i undo this all?

did you try to install Mavericks, or did you only download its installer without running it? Which version of OS X is currently installed on your MacBook Pro? Do you still have the two grey installation DVDs which originally came in the box with your MacBook Pro? Do you have backups of the files on your MacBook Pro from before you downloaded the Mavericks installer?
