Disabling Hardware Acceleration (HA) may ordinarily mean some graphics rendering is slower. However in your case Firefox is crashing on startup with HA enabled.
Updating your graphics drivers, may help, or conversely if a driver update was involved, rolling back the driver may occasionally help. It is also possible the problem may be resolved in some future Firefox update.
* See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/restore-driver-previous-version
Hardware Acceleration is disabled in Firefox's Safe Mode.
As already mentioned above by Jeff.
Another method of starting in safemode is to
* Launch Firefox with:
Use Run {WindowsKey +R } -> ''firefox.exe -safe-mode''
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments
*See also [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode]]'''_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode'''
Understanding your Crash Reports is beyond my knowledge but I note
Crash signatures involved included
* @0x0 | nvwgf2um.dll@0xcdc6b
* LocalFileLoader::RemoveFileStream(LocalFileLoader::FontFileStream*)
* NDXGI::CDevice::DeallocateCB(void*, _D3DDDICB_DEALLOCATE const*)
* sgfxu32.dll@0x8a8c
I will mark jeff.'s answer as the thread solution.

Firefox crashes at start in Safe mode - On one user account on PC only
I have done everything on Firefox crash checklist
No '''Report ID''' since no start.
So no nothing in further support? See below
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes#w_check-to-see-if-the-crash-happens-in-safe-mode
'''Get help fixing this crash'''
Figuring out the cause of a crash can be difficult. If you've tried the steps above and can't get Firefox to stop crashing, the steps below will show you how to collect information about your crash so our volunteers can help you.
1. In the Firefox Location bar, type about:crashes and hit Enter. A page listing submitted crash reports will appear. '''NO START so no Firefox Location bar'''
2. Right-click on the latest crash under Report ID and choose Open Link in New Tab. '''NO START so NO Firefox Report ID and not possible to choose Open Link in New Tab'''.
A tab will open to a page on crash-stats.mozilla.com, saying that "Your report is being processed". When it is finished processing, your report will load. '''NO START so NO Firefox Report ID and NO report will load so dead end and no help or support possible'''
3. Click this special link to ask for help with your crash.
Note: This link is only valid for help with crashes.
'''I have done this but can not find my question nor any answer neither. So what is next step to find support help?'''Hi Max,
Congratulations, at least you made a stab at solving the problem. I think a lot of users used to glance at that KB article ([[firefox crashes]]) and give up trying!
Hopefully the crash instructions will be further modified soon, (some of us consider the following is an [/kb/Firefox%20crashes/discuss/1855 omission] that needs correcting) have a look at this article for an explanation of how to get the crash ID from your OS even without using firefox:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports
The XP OS is likely to use smoke and mirrors to make it look like you have a totally
separate installation of firefox for each account, but normally you have the one set of (most) program files, and then for firefox separate [[profiles]]. So this indicates the problem is likely to be in the profile of the problem account, or down to a plugin, malware or other issue relating to that account.
(I note you have already scanned for malware with MSE, that should detect a particular trojan that is a top cause of firefox 6 crashes)
If you create a new clean profile in that account hopefully it will solve the crash problem, you can then address the issue of copying settings, bookmarks. passwords etc back. BUT before attempting that ensure that you disable all plugins, ([[safe mode]] does not disable plugins) if you have not already done so. Some plugins may not show up in Firefox's list, you may need to look at the OS program lists.
I note you mention banking, a particular utility ''IDvault'' (I think Comcast supply it) has been causing crashes. Are you using IDvault ?
(IDvault should be fixed soon bug684748; version 1.0.627 may have been fixed, but standalone version 5.9.627 has not yet been fixed )

Firefox crashes at start up, even in safe mode
Firefox crashes on start up. Crashes in safe mode as well. Tried steps on articles. Was watching adobe flash player when it crashed first time.
Any other recent crash IDs (maybe some have links to bugs or other posts)
Crash report: [https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ba759d32-e684-4f6c-813b-679ce2111005 ba759d32-e684-4f6c-813b-679ce2111005]
Crash signature: nsSecureBrowserUIImpl::OnLocationChange(nsIWebProgress*, nsIRequest*, nsIURI*)
That one does not seem to give any useful info at present.
Malware is one common cause of crashes, and that may produce variable crash reports, it is probably worth doing full scans with multiple tools/software to try to rule out the possibility of malware.
*See [[is my firefox problem a result of malware]]
Besides trying in safe mode did you also try disabling all plugins whilst in safe mode. (If it crashes before then, are you able to create a new profile and try that ? ) Also if crashing before about:crashes may be entered have you seen http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports
Sorry I am not able to give a useful answer at the moment. -
Firefox crashes on start-up, even in safe mode
Back in March/April 2012, Firefox started crashing for me on start up, possibly after the automatic/remote installation of MS security patches. After that time, I've not been able to start Firefox without it going directly to the Mozilla Crash Reporter. I've tried everything I could think of including safe-mode, uninstall/re-install, uninstall/back-up profiles directory/wipe profiles and all registry entries/re-install. This continues to fail since version 11(?) through 13.0.1. Even Sea Monkey crashes same manner. BTW, clicking on the "Details" button in the Mozilla Crash Reporter has no effect for me. I was trying it to help fill in the Troubleshooting Information box below as I can't get to "Help > Troubleshooting Information" as Firefox doesn't start.
What was the location of the file?

Firefox crashes on start-up; cannot get it to work. Any detailed solutions to try?
I've read through so many helping websites but I just can't find a solution to fix Firefox, it constantly crashes upon start-up. So I can't activiate Safe-Mode, or open it up or anything to fix it.
I also suspect that this rundll32.exe host has to do something with it. The messages came right after Firefox crashed. Should it be deleted?
Please help. This is bothering me so much. I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!Since a few days we have a lot of crashes with [http://www.trusteer.com/product/trusteer-rapport Trusteer Rapport]. If you have this program, try to disable it and see if that stops the crashing.
You can stop Rapport using Start Menu > Programs > Trusteer Rapport > Stop Rapport
You can ask their helpdesk when an updated version of their product will be made available or, if you don't need this software, uninstall it.
http://www.trusteer.com/support/en/report-problem
If you do not have Rapport, then we need to have a crash report ID. When you send Mozilla a crash report it just puts it in a giant database. We have no way of looking it up without the Report ID. I have no idea what is wrong without looking up the crash report. Please get the Report ID of your latest crash report.
Firefox crashes when starting up on Win2k3 Terminal Server
Firefox 3.x works, however after upgrading to 10.0.2 it will crash whenever starting up.
Platform: Windows 2003 Terminal Server with Citrix.
We have excluded the firefox.exe from the ctxhook and it doesn't help (we know this fixes crashing on startup on Xendesktop deployments).Thanks for pointing out that crash-stats website. DgApi.dll is Digital Guardian by Verdasys. Essentially monitoring software that the company uses to make sure users are not doing anything they shouldn't. Disabling that fixed it.

Firefox crashes when starting up, does work in savemode.
Firefox crashes most of the time when you start it up.
I've already done a whole lot of things, like:
-updating everything (firefox, plugins, addons).
-removing addons
-disabling / turning off plugins
It does NOT happen in save mode, so that makes you wonder.
I think it has something to do with one of these things:
- I updated Shockwave for Director (adobe), but the older version is still visible as a plugin. I cannot delete this plugin, though it is not installed on my computer anymore and it has no use whatsoever. I can however turn it off to see if this does the trick. It does not help, but maybe really deleting it does help? I don't know because I can't delete it.
- FireFox runs in SandBox by Avast! Sometimes it does seem like this is the problem, but sometimes he still crashes even though I open FF without SandBox.
- it does seem like hardwarespeed-up has something to do with it. But I'm not sure.
My questions: does anybody know how to really remove the old Shockwave for Director plugin?
Is it possible this is caused by sandbox avast?
How can I establish the hardwarespeed-up being turned off? I can turn it off, this does seem to help: it won't crash. However, when I open FF again, it is being turned on again.Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
*https://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/
If it does work in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") -
Hello!
I downloaded the latest version of Firefox for Windows XP but it always crashes on start-up. Mozilla Crash Reporter appears. I am not able to start Firefox in safe mode.

and bp-74c78b9f-ad72-446e-aa0a-d8aef2130429.
I immensely appreciate any assistance you are able to provide. Thank You!hello, from the crash report you've submitted it seems like the crash might be adware/malware related. the file on your pc causing the crash is named ''datamngr.dll''.
first, please go to the windows control panel / programs section and see if you have any toolbars, imesh, MediaBar, data manager or other similar suspicious programs installed - if so remove them...
afterwards please run a full scan of your system with different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx microsoft safety scanner].

Firefox crashes on start, even after complete reinstallation. No add-ons.
Every time I open FF, it completely freezes within 5 seconds. I've uninstalled & reinstalled, I've removed FF & all traces of its data using Revo uninstaller, then reinstalled, and still get the same results. I've seen where malware could cause this kind of problem, so I've run full scans with Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, Microsoft Security Scanner, and Kaspersky Security scanner. They all came back clean.
I'd love to submit a crash report, but apparently these crashes aren't generating them. The only thing in AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports is an InstallTime file, dated today (the date of my most recent reinstall). I also can't add any troubleshooting information, as FF crashes before I can add anything.
Here's exactly what happens: I launch FF, whish responsive for the first couple seconds. After that, it freezes completely, and eventually "(Not Responding)" is added to the title bar. A little bit later, Windows pops up, asking if I'd like to check for a solution. That's it.
Win 7 Pro, FF 18.0.2.Hello bob287, can you start Firefox in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#os=win7&browser=fx18 Safe Mode] by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox ?
also, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
thank you -
Firefox crashes on start. Profile manager also crashes. Already reset.
Firefox crashes before it even fully starts. I tried to do the profile manager trick but profile manager crashes, too. I started in safe mode and did the reset Firefox thing, that didn't help.
I deleted the cache while in safe mode.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled, twice. I tried all the options in the safe mode dialog (disable addons, Reset Toolbars, etc).

Firefox crashes before starting in Win 8.1
Was using Firefox then shut it down. Opened PhotoImpact Pro 13 and was using that when about 10 minutes later I reopened Firefox. It crashed without opening. Couldn't get it to start. Other browsers worked fine. Searched internet, tried resolutions like: Restarting PC, refreshing FIrefox, troubleshooting PC, starting Firefox in Safe Mode (wouldn't start), deleted Firefox, did clean reinstall, nothing worked. Even replaced wifi net connection with cable, in case wifi adapter was interfering somehow.
I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit.Hi, we're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#On the keyboard, press [Windows] [[Image:Windows key]] + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, type '''%APPDATA%''' and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!

I have check for a virus, via AVG; none found on a scan of the whole computer.
I have called up Firefox at least twice to reach UWO & its Convergence pgm to get my mail. Convergence asks for my security password. I have entered it very carefully several times on two separate tries of Convergence, & it is not recognized. The only thing unusual that has happened is the Firefox crash immediately before I called up Convergence. I think this password is a Firefox thing, required whenever the site wants a password.
What do I do now?Firefox shouldn't require to enter a password to start, so if you need one then you may not have the official version from the Mozilla servers.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
