Firefox crashes constantly

I have a brand new pc laptop with Windows 7. Firefox will not stay open for me, it just constantly crashes. I have updated Firefox, Windows, drivers, and checked to see if it crashes in safe mode. It does not. I have turned off Hardware Acceleration and restarted FF. I cannot disable extensions because the FF page won't stay open long enough for me to follow those instructions.
Please advise as this is increbibly frustrating.
Thank you.

This fix worked for me, too. Here is what I did:
- Firefox->Help->Restart with add-ons disabled.
- Extensions
- On "CGPS Extension 1.0", click "Disable"
- Exit
- Restart Firefox and breathe a sigh of relief.
Big thanks to Matt2!!

  • Why does Firefox Crash Constantly?

Like others who have reported this issue, Firefox has been crashing constantly on numerous different websites. I have Windows 7 32bit which was recently re-installed, fully updated. All drivers are up to date, all add-ons are updated, all plug-ins are up to date and in fact, I've disabled most of them and yet, the crashing continues. Looking at the crash reports, it seems to be related to Java "'''''Firefox 7.0.1 Crash Report [@ js::mjit::EnterMethodJIT(JSContext*, js::StackFrame*, void*, js::Value*) ]'''''"
This has been an ongoing problem since FF4 and I have since resorted back to a portable version of FF3.6. I've been through all the troubleshooting steps included on this website. My computer is clean of any viruses, malware, spyware, etc. Starting in safe mode seems to be to only solution to this problem but completely defeats the purpose as to why I'm using it in the first place. Looking at the crash reports, it seems this is a known issue with FF:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=595351
I've been a long time user of FF but if this continues to happen, I feel the the only solution will be to switch to a more stable browser until this is fixed. If there's anyone out there, please help find a solution to this problem. It's been ongoing for far too long!

OK I knewwww I shouldve waited a little longer.  A few seconds after posting my last reply, the flash player crashed on Firefox.  This is an additional problem that happens constantly on FF.  I know there was something about some conflicts between the flash player with FF & some other flash player....but i'm not totally sure what it is & how it all works.
Plus it seems like that is something I've already gone in & tinkered with.
(I originally wrote tinkled with but then caught myself)

  • Firefox crashes constantly when opening Yahoo Mail and some other sites

Hi, since last night FF has been crashing constantly. It all started with opening yahoo mail page but just some hours ago it happened on Rolling Stone magazine's site.
I have tried all the suggested troubleshooting (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_check-to-see-if-the-crash-happens-in-safe-mode). Then I did a complete wipe and reinstall of FF as instructed here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox and the problem persists (even when no extensions and no personal data exists).
I am completely at loss here. It is my work-horse browser and I truly need it working. Please assist.
    Thank you
P.S. I have always had a hanging problem with Flash if that might lead onto something....
Here is the latest crash report that I have submitted: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/8c0f6683-050f-4ef7-bef9-0245f2140827

Here's my situation....after I've been in yahoo mail for about 4 or 5 minutes,. it suddenly freezes and I see in the upper left hand corner of the tool bar it say firefox not responding, and then sometimes it just crashes. I shut of java, and I disabled ad blocker plus and it still does it, although not as frequently. I'm not going to go into safe mode and do all the of things some have suggested. I'm not that tech savvy, if there's not a good fix, then I'll use another browser until Mozilla can fix this. It would seem to me that since Mozilla and Yahoo are going to be working together in future builds why not fix the issue rather than frustrate long time users.....

  • Firefox crashing constantly

Firefox is up to some old tricks again. it's started crashing constantly and is unusable in the current state. After between 2 to 5 tabs are open, it will become completely unresponsive. If I move a desktop away and back in my window manager, the whole thing will be just a grey box. I usually kill it with "killall firefox"
Things I've tried to fix it:
    + New profile.
    + firefox -safe-mode
    + removing all extensions
    + restarting
+ pacman -S firefox to reinstall
+ running as root, sudo firefox
Nothing seems to fix it! Can you please help me get my browser back?

Is there some output the moment it freezes? (pretty unlikely, though)
No output I can see. Tried this in multiple window managers.
Does the CPU usage rise above average?
None more than normal, 5-20% cpu
Is it site-specific, or will just visiting any random sites cause this?

as for root, I tried that because someone suggested running as a different user.
I think this should technically be called a "hang" instead of a "crash" as the window stays open but is nonresponsive.
    I've now tried:
Firefox refresh. New profile. Renaming the ~/.mozilla.firefox folder as you suggested.
    Still dies, sometimes during startup.

  • Firefox crashes constantly. Crashes when going to Yahoo or opening a new tab.

So for about a month now my Firefox crashes when I go to yahoo.com or open up a new tab, it also crashes constantly on other websites. This does not happen using chrome, I haven't tried I.E., any help is appreciated. I don't want to use chrome as my main browser.

  • Firefox crashes constantly even in safe mode

Crashes began before upgrading to 8.0.1 and now continue.
Crashes constantly even in safe mode.
    Have updated firefox and plugins.
    Have run malwarebytes and superantispyware.
Crashes while surfing with no discernible pattern and then often crashes once or twice on restart of firefox.

hello olesker, it was initially thought that this kind of crash as contained in your crash id was already fixed in firefox 11, but obviously it's still around - the bug got reopened and will be worked upon by mozilla developers on a high priority.

  • Firefox crashes constantly after about 5 min (not in Safe mode)

Basic info: using Firefox 14, was working fine until i came back from vacation, fired up my PC, and updated 3 things, Adobe Flash, Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), and AMD Catalyst control center with the new 12.8 update, then restarted.
Have slowly been attempting to pin down the cause. Uninstalled Flash, firefox still crashes. Tried moving the Mozilla folder to desktop so I could simulate a reset, firefox crashed anyway, so i put the old folder back.
Read some troubleshooting pages on the firefox page and went down the list making sure all was updated and then tried running in Safe mode. So far no crash and we are going on 15 min here, the best I've seen so far.
Note: Just realized my Java version was out of date, uninstalled the old versions and installed the new version. Will see if this helps.
Note 2: Nope, Firefox is still crashing regularly. Java was not the issue. Didn't think so, but was hoping....

Hi edasvangen, try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
(WIN) orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced<br>
(MAC) Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved (or at least greatly improved)?

  • Firefox crashes constantly on my Macbook pro. It opens the start page during 7 seconds and then it crashes. Reinstall, del profile, empty cache did not help

I cannot open Firefox anymore on my MacBook Pro. When I try to open Firefox, the start page appears during 7 seconds and then Firefox closes and opens a crash report. During these 7 seconds I can't use any button in Firefox. I deleted everything From firefox and Mozilla in my library and in my cache. After I did a reinstall from Firefox. But the problem keeps on existing.

  • Firefox crashes constantly, Please Help

Here is last crash id.. bp-8d15cf50-4ba1-4375-8a12-54d2c2130224 I dont know what to do.

hello, unfortunately this seems to be a crash that is appearing in firefox 19 on windows 8 with AMD Radeon HD 6XXX/7XXX graphics cards - developers are investigating the causes of it...
the beta version of firefox doesn't seem to be affected by this issue, so you might want to consider switching to it (at least for the moment):
    https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/
another option is to downgrade to the to the former version - the auto-update in firefox 18 for the affected systems is now disabled and will be turned back on when a fix is available: [[Install an older version of Firefox]]

  • Firefox crashes constantly regardless of webpage

    firefox is crashing constantly

I have to join the chorus. Firefox completely hoses at least twice a day, usually in the middle of work that ends up being lost. FRUSTRATING!!!!!
The only way to resolve the problem is to end the process in Task Manager, which shows unbelievable suction of memory resources. Talk about the Big Gig Mozilla in the room. Back to IE.

  • Firefox crashes constantly at startup

Worked perfectly for years, now it doesn't matter which version of Firefox I try (use App cleaner prior to each reinstall) or if I start in Safe Mode, it always crashes at startup or immediately upon opening. Major PITA as I use Constant Contact and it's the only Mac browser they support.
Could it be related to a recent security update? Any ideas???

  • My firefox crashes constantly. I have uninstalled it, tried older versions, and run anti virus checks. Can someone give me any idea of how to fix this?

This has been happening for about two months. It started suddenly, but happens many times a day now.

    That's the million dollar question.
You could split them in half and re-enable 50% of them. If it doesn't crash, then you know the culprit resides somewhere in the remaining half.

  • Since the last update, Firefox crashes constantly if the "Rewind and Fastforward Buttons" add-on is enabled: is there a solution, please?

Since the crashing started yesterday, I have opened Ff in safe mode, disabled all the add-ons and then re-enabled them (all except the Rewind etc. one) and Ff now seems to be stable again. The Rewind is a very valuable add-on and I regret very much having to disable it. The last crash report ID is below.

    Alex,
Thank you for referring me to the add-ons page. The edition of "Rewind..." it advises is the one that I have been using and is now causing the crashes, so obviously, and very reluctantly, I shall have to do without it! Are there any developers out there, I wonder, who can come to the rescue?
    Thanks again.
