Firefox crashes for 10 seconds when trying to download files, deleting downloads.sqlite, reinstalling firefox, disable all add-ons doesn't solve this problem. Help!
I am having this problem for weeks now.
What I tried:
- Defragmentation
- Reinstall Firefox on a different location
- Change download location
- Start Firefox in safe mode and try download
- Disable all add-ons and plug-ins
- Complete malware/spyware scan
- Complete virus scan
- Delete downloads.sqlite in the profile folder
- Uninstall firefox and delete the entire mozilla folder in Roaming location
- Disabling antivirus
Nothing helps! I'm only having this problem in Firefox. Downloading with Chrome for example doesn't give any problems.
How can I resolve this problem? I'm really desperate.

Graphical errors. The Address dropdown box is blacked out, and goes normal when highlighted, tabs are blacked out, buttons are half missing etc etc. This ONLY happens in firefox, reinstalled and turn all add-ons off and it persists.

I have tried disabling all Add-ons.
I've reinstalled FireFox 6 three time.
Slide show pics fail to load.
I have all of the proper Flash and Shockwave type Add-ons.
I just can't resolve the problem.
Yet my browser repeatedly locks upSending a solution that I have already tried is of no help, but I tried them all again, reloading works sometimes, I have seen in the past that others have had this problem also, of pages not completely loading. So I don't see how you can say I am the only one. When I first started using Firefox it worked great but now it doesn't, one of the updates caused this problem. I guess it's back to IE as it works fine now.

The vibrate symbol that appears on screen when turning vibrate on, continually appears on my screen and vibrates all day. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.

the back button no longer works. I have disabled all add-ons,rebooted & reset the defaults for the browser and nothing has changed. This happens on all webpages.How do I get the back button to light up again?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Each time I start Firefox a "Checking Compatibility of Add-ons" update window appears, which redirects me to a welcome to Firefox 5.0 page with my normal home page in another tab. I tried disabling all add-ons and updates as well as the force compatibility checker. I think my AVG safe-search bar might be causing the problem, but I have it disabled and never use it. Please help me get rid of this.

I am having issues with firefox timing out on some secured websites. When I use safari, I have no issues. I am hoping that I can just disable the add-ons and then re-enable one by one to resolve. I need a walkthrough for the disable process however.

I think you are looking for [[Safe Mode]]. All you have to do is hold down the ''Option'' key while Firefox is starting.
Your on the right track for finding your issue. That is exactly the approach I would take!

Are you sure you don't have to press ⌥-G (Option-G) to get @?
Anyway, sounds like a keyboard/keyboard layout mismatch.
Go to System Preferences > Language & Text > Input Sources. From "Select input methods to use" enable (check) the following

Spanish - ISO
Also enable "Show Input menu in menu bar".
The Input menu should appear to the right of your menu bar, with the icon of a national flag. From this menu, choose "Show Keyboard Viewer". Then compare the layout displayed by Keyboard Viewer with the label on your MBP's keyboard. If it doesn't match, choose a different layout from the Input menu.
My suspicion is that you're using a US keyboard with a Spanish keyboard layout, hence the difference you noted. -

Get a copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert your MPG file to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). In FCE, select one of the setups that uses AIC that best matches your clip (say, 1920x1080i60). Create a new sequence, then import the converted file.
Note that if your MPG file is actually MPEG2 you will also need the QuickTime MPEG2 Component in addition to MPEG Streamclip.
What was the source of the MPG file? How about if you open it in QuickTime, then do Window > Show Movie Inspector. Tell us what it says for codec/compression, frame size & frame rate. -
I have actually been having this issue for over a year now with the previous versions. The browser always crashes right after I start it, but it seems work well in safety mode. I have tried resetting the Firefox, disabling all the add-ons in safety mode, and reinstalling the application, but none of these methods seem to work. Seems the crash reason is "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ," whatever it means...Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

When I make my selection it can then proceed to use Firefox. However the next time I open Firefox I get the same problem.

"Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Other options it offers: Reset toolbars and controls, Delete all bookmarks except for backups, and Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults.
My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, version 6.1.
This is a new computer, came with IE 8, but I don't think I used it much before downloading and making Firefox my default browser. I made some changes in the default home page, added some bookmarks, added Firefox's suggested Add-ons, updated them, and am running AVG freeware version 10.0.1191.
Please help me get Firefox to run in normal mode.I also have this problem and it just started in the last week or so. It seems to be dependent on my home network and the problem only exists with firefox. I have used chrome and IE8 with no issues. I can verify tomorrow that it only exists in my network but one thing I was able to test is that the problem exists even on my linux boot. I am totally dumbfounded with this problem and I can't find anything that will allow the gmail page to load. All other pages I have tried load fine, all be it a little slower than normal but they load. If anyone knows of a difference between firefox and all other browsers on how it goes through the router I would appreciate the info cause I don't know of any differences.
