• Firefox sync activation dissappears when I restart firefox

I'm attempting to set up Firefox Sync on two Fedora Linux desktops to sync bookmarks between the two machines. I am able to set up Sync on the first machine just fine, and I am able to add a device on the first machine to include the second machine. (I'm syncing with the firefox sync server, not with a custom server.) However, whenever I quit and restart firefox (on either machine), the sync "activation" or "connection" dissappears: In particular, after a restart, when I select "Edit": "Preferences": "Sync" I see the initial activation screen (i.e., the screen with s single button, "Set Up Firefox Sync".
I am able to reconnect to the Sync account, so the account on the Firefox Sync server persists. Apparently, the executable "firefox" on my machine is not maintaining the connection information over a restart.
Also, a suggestion: I would like to be able to browse the sync info on the Firefox sync account separately from the sync connection. This would help me debug connection problems, would enable me to deconflict, correct, or understand erroneous or ambiguous sync's after the fact (if historical log information were provided), and would in general make me feel better about how sync works. In short, I want to be able to see exactly what's in the cloud by viewing the cloud.

Hi!
The most probable issue is that you are resetting your password after closing the browser. We have discussed this issue in this other thread: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/823376
Let me know if that helps.
Regarding your suggestion, the team is aware of the demand of viewing what's on the cloud and it's planning some improvements in that area.

I have windows 7 and I installed firefox 5.0.1. When I customize the location of the navigation toolbar buttons like home and back buttons, when I exit firefox and then open it again, it resets the buttons to default and the location of the buttons also.

• I updated Firefox and the extensions and keep getting "restart firefox for changes to take effect." Even after restarting, none of the add-ons actually update and do not appear, for instance, noscript. Please help!

There are a bunch of add-ons that recently were updated, including noscript, adblock, etc. These add-ons were updated successfully and say in the add-on window they will be installed the next time Firefox restarts. There's also a bar that says "restart firefox now" and even when clicking restart firefox, none of the updates seem to load. I had to manually download the noscript the last time to get it to work but alas with the latest update, again, same problems. i tried disabling other plugins with no impact either. Anyone else having a similar problem and does anyone know how to get this resolved?

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check.

• I can open the window only once, once i close it, i need to restart my laptop to open firefox again

i can open my firefox window only once, if i close it, i cannot open it again, it is not working. i need to restart my laptop again to open it. This had been happening from the date i did the recent update for the new version.

No, as many times as you need. Log into the App store with the same Apple ID you used when you first downloaded it. Where it says Purchase, option click and it will change to install. Next time you download it, before you install, keep a copy on a USB drive or external drive to save downloading it again and wasting power and Bandwidth.
Good Luck

• Firefox Windows "Vanish" & Re-appear on Restart

I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and Firefox 34.0.5. I have 11Firefox windows open, as I group my browsing by topic/task. Sometimes (it happened today), I attempt to switch to a different window to work on another task. I discovered that four of my windows did not appear when I clicked on the Firefox icon in the system tray. I have been running in Firefox safe mode in order to debug problems (for which I still have open issues on this forum). I had to click on "Help - Restart Firefox with add-ons disabled" to restart Firefox. Once Firefox restarted, the windows that had vanished came back to life, and I could then switch to one of the formerly missing ones. What is happening, and how can I debug the problem when it recurs? Is there any way to switch to a "hidden/vanished" window without restarting Firefox when this happens? Thanks.
--Barry Finkel

That is interesting. I have windows 7 pro too, and tried opening 11 windows, and as far as I could tell, they all worked just fine. Is this something that happens to you a lot, or just once? Tell me if that happens again will you?

A user has both Firefox and IE on his machine. A hyperlinked report opens in Firefox when the main report is being viewed in IE. Default browser is set to IE. Has anyone had this problem?

You can change the application that handles your PDFs here:

After the list loads, you can type pdf in the search box there to filter the list. Change the handler using the drop-down on the right side.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:
